WASHINGTON -- The official portrait for Mother Teresa's canonization ceremony has been unveiled.

"St. Teresa of Kolkata: Carrier of God's Love" was presented to the public Thursday at the St. John Paul II Shrine in Washington, D.C.

The portrait was painted by renowned artist Chas Fagan of Charlotte, North Carolina and commissioned by the Knights of Columbus.

It became the official canonization ceremony portrait after catching the eye of the Vatican.

Mother Teresa, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, dedicated her life to caring for the poorest of the poor in India.

"She answered God's call, and for her God's call was a radical call: to leave everything and to start the missionaries of charity" said Patrick Kelly, Executive Director of the St. John Paul II Shrine.

Hundreds of thousands are expected at Mother Teresa's canonization ceremony in front of St. Peter's Basilica Sunday in the Vatican.

The ceremony will be led by Pope Francis.
