As lawmakers grapple with how to secure our border and debate over immigration reform, the immigrants who are currently protected under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program continue to live in limbo. Their permits must be renewed every two years, and with the policy that allows them to live and work in the US constantly threatened by legal challenges, anything beyond those two-year increments feels uncertain. While there is bipartisan support for a permanent solution for DACA recipients, also known as Dreamers, nothing has ever passed both chambers of Congress. Capitol Hill correspondent Abigail Robertson recently spoke with one Dreamer about the tension of living life dependent on a bipartisan solution that seems to always be just out of reach.
