Desperate Widower Gains Everything Back After Cyclone

Cyclone Fani did massive damage to the coastal tourist destination of Puri, India.

Lokapradhan said, “In Puri, we get a lot of storms, but nothing that bad happens.  But this cyclone caused great destruction.”

Lokapradhan is a widower, and a single father of three.  Before cyclone Fani hit, he drove a rickshaw to support his children. In the cyclone, he lost his home, and his rickshaw.

“There was nothing I could do but cry,” explained Lokapradhan. “How will I feed my children? In the morning, when my children ask for something to eat, I have nothing to give them.”

When Operation Blessing arrived on the scene to give people food, we met Lokapradhan and heard about everything he lost.  The government is helping him rebuild his house, but without his rickshaw, he had no income.  So, we gave him a new electric rickshaw, something he never could have afforded himself.

Lokapradhan said, “I never imagined anyone would come and buy an electric rickshaw for me! Operation Blessing came all the way here to do that?  It’s wonderful!”

With the new rickshaw, Lokapradhan is getting more business and earning more money than he ever did before.

“In my time of need, Operation Blessing was there to help me,” said Lokapradhan. “I am now inspired to work even harder for my family. You are such a big encouragement. Thank you!”
