Fashioning Hope from Your Love

Sinat is a 31-year-old widow and mother of two. She’s been struggling to provide for her daughters as a tailor during the pandemic in Cambodia.

“Everyone is scared of COVID,” she said. “People stopped working. They stopped buying clothes. They only bought food. Before I earned $50 a month but now I barely make $10. I barely had anything for my daughters to eat.”

Then Sinat ran out of food and money.

“I remember one time, I didn’t even have 10 cents in my pocket. I tried to find fish, frogs or fruit but I didn’t find any because I had never tried to catch them before.”

Then CBN’s Orphan’s Promise learned about her situation and helped Sinat with food packs on several different occasions.  “This really helped my family,” she said. “My children were not starving any more.”

Then we helped Sinat to expand her tailoring business. We paid for her to attend a class to improve her skills. “I can now make shirts, pants and women’s clothing too!” she said with pride.

She told us that her business was finally picking up. “People are starting to buy clothes again. I am now earning double the income that I used to make.”

With her new skills and the money she earned, Sinat was able to buy two more sewing machines. She says she has so much work she’s been able to hire others to help her to increase production. “I am filled with hope. Thank you!”
