Pray for America - Day 25

10-12-2020

My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let Your glory be above all the earth.  – Psalm 57:7, 11

DAY 25: "From Disappointment to Praise"

How do we react when we are greatly disappointed? Do we become despondent and forlorn? Or do we give praise and thanksgiving to God and bless His name?

King David had his heart set on building a temple for God. However, the Lord told David that he would not be the one to build the temple because he had been a man of war and had shed blood on the earth. Instead, God would place the responsibility into the hands of David’s son Solomon. David must have felt incredible disappointment when he heard God’s words. But what came out of his heart was a proclamation of thanksgiving and praise to the glorious name of God. In 1 Chronicles 29, David blessed the Lord, declaring that the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty belonged to Him; and that everything in heaven and on the earth is His; and that from His hand He gives strength to all. David’s declaration serves as an example for us in rising above our disappointments to bring adoration and praise to the glorious name of God.

Pray for God’s people throughout America that when discouragement and sadness enter our hearts, we will draw from God’s strength within us to rise up and bless the name of the Lord. In unity, let us all give Him praise!
