Pray for America - Day 30

10-13-2020

Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.  – Proverbs 9:9

DAY 30: "Obedience"

Any seasoned teacher is able to identify which students want to learn and which ones do not. How teachable are we in learning God’s Word, and how obedient are we in applying it to our lives?

Psalm 119:33-40 is a wonderful passage on being teachable and learning obedience. When we want the Lord to teach us about His commands, obedience is our commitment to keep them. When we ask the Lord to give us understanding, obedience is offering an open and earnest heart. When we ask for faithfulness to His commands, obedience is being delighted when He holds us accountable. When we ask that our hearts stay close to His Word and away from greediness, obedience is not being surprised when He sends us alerts if we stray. When we ask that we stop looking at worthless things, obedience is being thankful when the cable goes out or the internet goes down. When we ask to be established in His Word, obedience requires a devoted heart open to understanding the fear of the Lord. When we ask Him to turn us away from criticism, obedience is knowing we will be judged with the same measure we judge others. When we want more of Him, obedience is marveling as our soul is revived in His righteousness.

Pray that all God’s children throughout America will have teachable and obedient hearts before God.
