Pray for America - Day 34

10-19-2020

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.  – Matthew 5:16

DAY 34: "Heed"

Have you ever seen yellow caution signs along the road, warning drivers about dangerous curves or intersections ahead? Do you heed and slow down?

In Romans 12, Paul gives us a clear warning not to be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Evidence of conforming to the world will appear throughout our everyday lives. If we’re not mindful of God’s ways, the choices we make, the words we speak, what we read, watch, or even what we believe, will easily pull us into conforming to the patterns of this world. To be alert, we must know how to keep our testimonies distinctly set apart from the world. How do we do that? Paul gives us the answer: by the transforming of our minds—a proactive move we make to change how we think. In Philippians 4, we are encouraged to think on things that are true, noble, just, pure, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy. Heeding God’s Word by focusing on what we should be thinking about, the process of renewing our minds begins. Ultimately, we are transformed, becoming a light to a lost and dying world.

Pray that believers across America heed God’s Word, becoming set apart from the world in clear and noticeable ways. Pray that with renewed minds, we are transformed to live our lives glorifying God.
