Pray for America - Day 3

09-23-2020

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.
— Ephesians 3:20-21

DAY 3: "Giving the Best of What We Have"

In today’s world, we are so busy. How can we possibly commit to pray for America? Stop and say these four words aloud: “One nation under God.” Say them again. Do you think that America as we know it today is still “one nation under God”? I think we would agree that we are not. Instead, we are a desperate people running out of time. Urgency is now our decree, and we must become prayer warriors in relentless pursuit of our merciful God.

In Exodus 35, God commanded Moses to speak to the people of Israel about the need for offerings to be brought to the tabernacle. There were many artisans, craftsmen, seamstresses, builders, and others who brought the finest of what they had. Rulers brought gems; women brought beautiful thread and linen. And many brought a variety of materials for all kinds of work. Daily, they continued to bring offerings until they had given more than enough and were told to stop! How did such a huge task result in such incredible giving? The people who responded had three things in common: hearts that had been stirred, spirits that were willing, and the desire to give the very best of what they had to the Lord.

When our hearts have been stirred by God to pray for America, and our spirits are willing to persist in pleading for mercy on behalf of our beloved country, we will make the time to pray—busy or not. And by His power, we, too, will give Him the best of what we have.
