Americans all across the country are gearing up to celebrate Father's Day this Sunday.
The holiday is a lot less popular than all the buzz surrounding Mother's Day.
Father's Day was created in 1910, when Sonora Dodd of Spokane, Washington came up with the idea of celebrating Dads. She was listening to a sermon on Mother's Day in 1909 when she thought about how to honor her father, William Smart, a widowed Civil War veteran, raising six children on a farm.
But it didn't get official federal recognition until 1972 in a proclamation from President Richard Nixon.
So why do people put more into celebrating Moms than Dads?
CBN News spoke with Christopher Preston of "Preston's Practical Perspectives" for the answer to that question, who also explained why it's important for Dads to pray for their children.
