Watch Sheila Walsh share her thoughts on why character trumps charisma and how being transparent and real leads to healing and a life of fulfillment.

A few months ago I spoke with former 700 Club co-host and Women of Faith's Sheila Walsh about her latest book, The Longing in Me: How Everything you Crave leads to the Heart of God.

In it she details the painful journeys of her life which include her father becoming violent after suffering a brain aneurysm, and the time she spent in a psychiatric hospital after a mental breakdown.

Sheila said she often covered up the pain of feeling unworthy by becoming busy with ministry.

"I lived the first 34 years of my life hiding," she told me. "I think when you've got pain in your life and you don't know what to do with it you find some kind of mask that works. Some times we use food, too much or too little or we use stuff or relationships.  I found the perfect mask -- ministry!"
