President Pays Respects to Fallen SEALS

As suspected President Obama has arrived in Dover, Del., where the remains of the 30 Navy SEALS killed in Eastern Afghanistan over the weekend arrived today.

The remains are considered "unidentified" until they are positively identified by the Armed Forces Mortuary Affairs Office. The transfer ceremony is closed to the press.

Military officials say it was most likely insurgents who shot down the Navy's Chinook helicopter as it was landing. Experts say the attack occurred when the helicopter was most vulnerable as landings are slow and predictable.

Most of the SEALS were a part of the Navy's elite SEAL Team 6, the counterterrorism unit that raided Osama Bin Laden's hideout in Pakistan and killed the Al Qaeda leader.

Saturday was the deadliest day in the history of the U.S. led war in Afghanistan.

President Obama did not publicly announce that he would attend the transfer ceremony, but cancelled another previously scheduled event early this morning.
