'Fuller House' Wins Big, Candace Cameron Bure Shares How Cast 'Pray for Each Other'
"Fuller House" won the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Funny TV Show this weekend, and as Candace Cameron Bure accepted the award, she shared how prayer has played an important role for the cast of the show.
"Family sticks together no matter what," she stated in her speech, which she later put on Instagram. "They stick together through the hard times. They support each other. They encourage one another. They pray for each other, and they stand by their side no matter how tough it gets. And a loving family that sticks together also celebrates the really good times together."
Bure has not been shy when it comes to her faith, even when she's been facing opposition. During her time as a co-host of ABC's The View from 2015-2016, Bure maintained and shared about her faith and conservative views while sitting at the table with progressive co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar.
While on the nationally syndicated television program "The Wendy Williams Show" last year, Bure discussed the experience.
"My whole goal for that show was to be kind and respectful and to truly represent Christ in my speech. When I talk to people, I want to listen, and have compassion, or empathy, or see where you are at in your life so that I can understand your point of view," stated Bure. "I don't know anyone that has ever changed because someone yelled and screamed at them."
"I don't win every battle but I'm fighting (for my values). I know it's honoring to God," she added. "Every little difference, every little fight, makes a difference for God."
Williams asked Bure, "Do you ever get criticism for your faith in terms of acting jobs and things?"
"I have experienced discrimination in the faith department for sure in my career," Bure replied. "But I don't experience it as much now because I think so many people know me for it. I think they look to me for my faith, but if they're not looking for that they just don't hire me. It's not thrown in my face like, 'We're not having her on'."
Though she experiences discrimination, the "Fuller House" actress and author told Matthew Faraci, the host of The Dove Channel's original series "Frankly Faraci", that "kindness always wins."
"No matter what, kindness wins," shared Bure. "It doesn't mean backing down; there's a difference. I can stand my ground and keep the love and be kind."
Bure also recently posted this Bible verse saying, "To know you God, is life. Amen"
And she posted this great video about how she's observing Lent this year, saying, " My goal for this season is to start each day thinking about Jesus. Starting today, Ash Wednesday, and through Easter I will have daily posts in the morning on my Instagram and Facebook Story that have a name or attribute of Jesus. I would love for you to join me (if you’re inclined) as we Discover the Real Jesus one word at a time."
