In Paris, I interviewed philosopher and writer Pascal Bruckner, author of the new book, Le Fantisme de l'Apocalypse (The Fanaticism of the Apocalypse).

Bruckner, who supports protecting the environment, calls the belief in a catastropic climate change scenario a "pagan religion," in which "Mother Earth is suffering," man "has sinned and must be punished," and the punishment will be an environmental apocalypse.

I also used some of Bruckner's comments in my piece on climate change as an article of faith in Europe.

Is support for the Tea Party drying up and are more Americans looking at the movement negatively? A new poll produced for ABC News says the answer is yes.

Should Mitt Romney be less guarded about his Mormon faith? It’s an interesting and legitimate question. Politico looks at that issue this morning. See below for an excerpt from the article.

What does The Brody File think? I think it is high risk, high reward but ultimately the more Romney doesn’t speak about his faith, the more people might wonder why exactly. Remember, Romney’s Mormon faith WILL be vetted in the General Election by the media, whether he likes it or not. It may have been vetted in 2008 during the GOP Primaries but never at the General Election level.

There was a great editorial put out over the weekend by Ralph Reed, the founder of the influential Faith and Freedom Coalition. I highly suggest you read it.

The entire column is a below. Reed accurately describes what Mitt Romney needs to do in the fall to win The White House.

In June 2010, my exclusive report on the radical materials being sold at Halalco--the Washington, D.C. area’s largest Islamic supermarket--first aired on CBN. I recounted my investigation into Halalco, which is located in Falls Church, Va., just minutes from the nation’s capital, in Chapter 5 of my book, The Terrorist Next Door.

A Christian conservative congressional candidate in North Carolina is about to release a new campaign ad that invokes the Bible and the immorality of the debt crisis.

Ethan Wingfield, who is just 26 years old and is running for the open seat in North Carolina’s District 11, tells The Brody File:

“Congress should stop reading Obama’s book, give up the New York Times, and pick up The Bible. They can start with Proverbs 22:7. ‘The borrower is slave to the lender.’ Washington either hasn’t read that, or doesn’t care. But I do.”

This “war on women” storyline reeks of political opportunism on both sides of the aisle. First of all, to say many in the GOP are conducting a “war on women” is so simplistic in nature that it deserves less newspaper ink and more laughter.

So let me get this straight: Republicans are conducting a war on women because they back pro-life policies and believe contraception options shouldn’t be forced on religious institutions? This is a “war on women” because they don’t want taxpayer money going to fund abortions through Planned Parenthood?

The White House issued this statement on North Korea’s missile launch.

Despite the failure of its attempted missile launch, North Korea’s provocative action threatens regional security, violates international law and contravenes its own recent commitments. While this action is not surprising given North Korea’s pattern of aggressive behavior, any missile activity by North Korea is of concern to the international community. The United States remains vigilant in the face of North Korean provocations, and is fully committed to the security our allies in the region.

Rejection is a painful thing we all experience from time to time. But, some experience it frequently; and it can cause psychologically and spiritual damage if you do not handle rejection well. Rejection is all about exclusion of some kind. That exclusion can be social, relational, from peers, family, friends and romantic relationships. A group or an individual can be rejected.

When we struggle with addiction or any other challenge, we may say and do things we wouldn’t normally. We may choose to disobey God as Jonah did in the Old Testament. When we run from God, we have preferred our will instead of God’s.
