Operation Blessing is in Houston helping flood victims rebuild while providing emotional and spiritual support by praying with them.

Resident Hearlean Heart, 70, said she was sleeping when water began flooding her driveway. A friend called her to check on her.

"By that time I'm thinking, 'I'm here by myself, can't swim - let me call my son,'" Heart recalled.

By the time her son arrived, the water was flowing into her house.

"He came in through the door and the water rushed in," Heart said. They grabbed some of her necessities and then left.

"By the time we got out the door, it really was high and rushing in with dirty water," she said.

When the flood waters receded, allowing Heart to return, she realized how badly she needed help repairing her home.

Operation Blessing volunteers stepped in to give her a hand.

"They're not charging me - money that I don't have - I think they're great. It's a blessing from God," Heart shared. "They already know what to do and that's a blessing, give me some kind of relief.

"We'll survive this," she continued. "It's just hard, especially when you get older. You can't lift; you can't do things like you used to."

More than 100 volunteers partnered with Operation Blessing. The aid group is also responding to help quake victims in Japan and Ecuador as well.
