President Barack Obama has arrived in Germany as part of what's likely to be his final overseas trip as president.

The tour has turned into a global reassurance mission as Obama works to convince Europeans of American stability.

He just wrapped up his visit to Greece, where he told Europeans not to worry about President-elect Donald Trump.

"Progress follows a winding path -- sometimes forward, sometimes back -- but as long as we retain our faith in democracy, as long as we retain our faith in the people, as long as we don't waiver from the central principles that ensure a lively, open debate, then our future will be okay," Obama said.

He is the first president to visit the debt-plagued country in 17 years. His trip was primarily focused on plans to help reduce that debt and deal with the onslaught of Syrian refugees.

On Thursday, Obama meets with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who he has called one of his best partners.

On Friday, he'll meet with the leaders of France, Italy, Spain and Britain.
