Did You Know?

As the oldest center of copper production in the ancient world and the most extensive example of early mining in existence, Timna Valley hosted miners as early as the 5th millennium B.C.

And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put into his mind. (2 Chronicles 9:23 ESV)

If you’re looking for stunning desert landscape in Israel, look no further; Timna Park is the place to go. The best time to visit is between November and April when the weather is pleasantly cool and dry.

Timna Park is home to a must-see attraction, Solomon’s Pillars. As you may know, King Solomon is most known for his gift from God – understanding and discernment. With his gift, Solomon turned Israel into an architectural spotlight of the middle east.

The sandstone pillars have been strategically molded by wind and water. Pictures do not do them justice; you must see them in person. Their sheer size will have you in awe and overwhelmed by God’s presence. It is almost as if you can feel His presence from the pillars' size and weight.

Another stop to add to your itinerary is the copper mines. Scientists and historians believe that these were likely some of the very first mines to have been built on earth. They are at least six thousand years old and were mined by ancient Egyptians and Israelites under the rule of King Solomon.

Once you check off Solomon’s Pillars and the copper mines off your list, there are plenty of restaurants, overnight camping and sunset tours available.
