Someone had arrived at the hospital with a massive, deadly heart attack.
A patient with no pulse . . . .
Everyone there, fighting to keep this man alive.
. . . . and a surgeon with no other choice.
He's dead! He's gone! There's no life in him.
How they both walked out of the hospital alive.
Miracles are real! And they're real today.
Well, welcome to this edition of The 700 Club, folks. It's the week of miracles, and we're going to talk about some of the most extraordinary things. We have a man who died. He had a massive coronary; he died. The doctor had called the code; he was dead. His doctor is here, and the man is here on this program today to tell you about it. Dramatic! Extraordinary!
Amazing stories. And this all on the heals of our Heaven and Hell series that we did a couple of weeks ago.
That's right. Hey, welcome back. You've been over to the Ukraine?
I've been in Ukraine and had a wonderful trip, went north, south, east, west. We were all over the country.
Do they love you in the Ukraine?
Well, they love The 700 Club in Ukraine, Pat. We have many, many friends there, and it was so exciting to see that.
How wonderful! Well, we'll hear more about it later. Well, folks, the European Union is having a serious problem with Greece. They're yet to approve a second bailout, and the financial fiasco has big ramifications, not only in Greece and Europe but across the globe.
Well, some are saying that Greece may have to say goodbye to the Euro just to fix its deep economic problems. Dale Hurd has more from Germany.
While EU leaders try to agree on another plan to save Greece from collapse, the biggest skeptics are probably on the streets of Athens. What has happened to Greece is called a "recession" but looks more like a depression. The Greek economy will shrink at least 5 percent this year. Industrial production, which fell 20 percent last year, is still dropping like a rock. Real unemployment is 20 percent, but for young people it's 42 percent. And the previous International Monetary Fund bailout of Greece has proven to be just money down the drain. This Greek says it's like receiving a jolt of electroshock therapy. The country is revived briefly through help from the IMF, but the truth is that Greece is already dead. Greece's debt is so high that even if politicians do defy protestors and make the cuts in spending, the government will still owe three times the entire national income. For the wealthiest EU nations like Germany who have had to give Greece money, it looks increasingly hopeless. (Idstein, Germany): The Germans look at the mess in Greece and know they don't want to pay the bill for it any more, and there is increasing talk here that it may be time for Greece to leave the Euro Zone.
I think this would be the best for the Greek people.
Klaus-Peter Willsch sits on the budget committee in Germany's Bundestag, or parliament, and says the one-size-fits-all nature of a strong Euro is preventing Greece from recovering.
If they would have their own currency, they could devaluate.
Another plan, Willsch says, would be the creation of two Euro Zones, one for rich members like France and Germany, and one for the poorer like Greece, Spain and Portugal. And it's not at all certain the latest Greek bailout will work. The Euro currency head has warned it could backfire, with lenders raising the cost of borrowing for the other struggling EU nations like Spain where the protests are getting started. And it could send the EU into an even deeper crisis. Dale Hurd, CBN News, Near Frankfort, Germany.
There was a bank in Austria called The Credit-Anstalt. It went under, and that triggered the greatest depression we had seen in that century. You never can tell what will trigger it, and this could be the trigger. But it's time—Greece is just gone, and they might as well devalue. They might as well default on their debts. They were not going to pay it. But right now, I think they're paying something like 18 percent on Greek bonds. Just imagine what it would be like if the United States that owes so much I forget right now, trillions of dollars. If you had up that and started charging 15 percent interest on it.
Wow! What's the answer for them, though?
They've just go to start all over again and get their house in order.
With their own currency?
With their own currency and see if they can't rebuild, but they've got to—I mean, what do the sell? They sell olives and olive oil. They sell cork and fabrics and textiles, and all sorts of things they can sell for currency, and they've just got to start getting it back together. I mean, after all, that was the first great democracy, and I don't know what's happened to them, but that's what welfare states will do. That's what all this government spending will do. Ladies and gentlemen here in America, if the people who run this country don't get their act together—that is the canary in the coal mine. It's giving us a warning. We'd better take it, and I don't think anybody in Washington is heeding. Well, Wendy Griffith has more of our top stories from the CBN News room. On this day, we're going to talk about the supernatural. Wendy.
Sounds very exciting. Thanks, Pat. But first, it's now been more than 90 days since America's military joined the NATO-led mission to remove Muammar Gaddafi from Libya. House Republicans say the president must now get authorization from Congress under the War Powers Resolution. But there are no signs he plans to do it. The White House says he doesn't have to, because there are no ground forces in Libya, but even some democrats disagree.
I think the War Powers Act and Constitution make it clear that hostilities by remote control are still hostilities.
I was in the White House and the NSC staff not long after the War Powers Act was passed, and I believe that President Obama has complied with the law, consistent in a manner with virtually all of his predecessors. I don't think he's breaking any new ground here.
Republican Sen. John McCain is expected to offer a resolution in support of the mission, but other legislators have suggested cutting funding.
Defense Secretary Robert Gates is calling for the U.S. military to keep up the pressure in Afghanistan. That comes as others in Washington are calling for the U.S. to end our involvement there. Afghan President Hamid Karzai says American forces risk becoming occupiers if air strikes in the region continue. But Gates says the US is trying to end the war through negotiations with the Taliban. He says those talks will only succeed if U.S. pressure on the Taliban continues. Pat, what do you think?
Well, the Taliban are going to wait us out. They've made it clear that we're going to leave, and they will wait. They're very patient. They say we'll more or less cease hostilities. We'll stand down and let the Americans walk out, then we'll go after them. Hopefully, they'll capture a lot of our heavy equipment as we phase out. They want to pick up our equipment, then they'll use it to fight. But Karzai is a loser. I think the administration is corrupt. His election was corrupt. His family is corrupt. And the opium trade is appalling. We could have shut down those poppies in a matter of a few weeks in a surgical air strike or whatever you do with the insecticides and the defoliants that they use to kill plants. We could have done that very easily.
Seems like that should have been a given. Why didn't it happen?
Well, they kept saying the Afghans need the opium to supply their economy. Well, that's a pact with the devil. These are a bunch of corrupt warlords over there, and we're in bed with them. They ask for these things, and we're giving them to it. We're doing it on our dollar and on the lives of our brave men and women. Wendy.
Pat, it was a busy weekend for Republican presidential contenders. Many were looking for an edge in this wide open race. Congressman Raul Paul of Texas won the presidential straw poll at the Republican leadership conference. Former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman came in second. At the same conference, Texas Governor Rick Perry started sounding more and more like a potential candidate.
See I've got more confidence in America's energy and character. I totally believe it's time to reconnect with the greatest attributes of our nation, to regain that resilient spirit and recapture that love of freedom, remembering its true price.
Meanwhile, Mitt Romney refused to sign a pro-life pledge put out by the Susan B. Anthony group. He says the pledge was broad and could have unintended implications. Michele Bachmann called Romney's decision not to sign the pro-life pledge distressing.
It's down to the wire for New York's gay marriage legislation. Governor Andrew Cuomo has been pressuring lawmakers to legalize same-sex marriage. But Christians are concerned the measure infringes on religious freedoms. Charlene Israel has that story.
With the clock ticking away, opponents and supporters are standing their ground over whether same-sex marriage should be legalized in the state.
Whose business is it and why does anybody get hurt? That's what I don't understand.
Currently 31 state senators, including two Republicans, are in favor of the same-sex bill. Three Republican senators remain undecided. One reason the vote has been stalled: Republicans want solid legal protections for religious institutions that believe gay marriage is wrong.
We want to make sure that there are provisions in there to protect against unintended consequences.
Specifically under the bill, clergy have the right to decide whether they want to perform same-sex marriages.
What we don't want to see is religious organizations being opened up to litigation because of a new set and a new era of law.
It's not a civil rights issue. I disagree with that. It has to be something that's immutable, one of the conditions for it to be a civil rights issue. This lifestyle is not immutable.
On Sunday, at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City, Archbishop Timothy Dolan continued his campaign against the legislation.
Marriage is already defined as the life-long union between one man and one woman in love bringing about children, and I don't think it's political and just to stand up and say, "Let's not tamper with that."
Charlene Israel, CBN News.
Twenty-two-year-old Rory McIlroy has became the youngest golfer to win the U.S. Open since 1923. The Northern Ireland native shattered records, finishing at 16 under par. McIlroy celebrated his win with his dad Sunday. His father worked three jobs in order to help his son pursue his passion for golf. As soon as McIlroy took his last shot, he went straight up to his dad, gave him a hug, and told him "Happy Father's Day." What a great gift, Pat.
What a great player! Twenty-two years old; he's got a natural swing. Everybody's been looking for Tiger Woods. Tiger set some marvelous records, but his body just wouldn't stand it any longer. Imagine when you're 35 years old your body gives out. You can't play golf anymore. But he's got problems with his ankles and his knees, and I don't know what all else.
Well, it was really inspiring to see such a young man do so well.
Well, coming back from the Masters where he blew up in the Masters, and that would be hanging over his head, and instead of cursing and doing all the stuff that Tiger did, he just said, "I hope this builds character." I mean, everybody just loved him for it.
Yes, they really did. It was so wonderful to see him with his dad at the end of the game.
All man! Well, anyhow, we've got a new champion, and if he keeps it up, he's going to knock them all dead. Every time he shows up, he's going to outplay anybody out there. He hits long drives. He's got a natural swing.
Makes you want to play golf.
Not me.
Makes me want to play golf.
He's too good.
Well, not with him.
Well, years ago, we worked on a farm, and we had chickens and I had chickens. It's always fun to set a hand over some eggs and watch the little baby chicks emerge. It's kind of nice. Well, it's no longer considered old fashioned to raise chickens in your backyard. Guess, what? It's the latest urban craze. Heather Sells traveled to Brooklyn, New York. A tree grows in Brooklyn. Well, little baby chicks grow in Brooklyn. Heather's going to tell us how those backyard enthusiasts are literally egging each other on.
For New York City's eight million residents, jockeying for space is a 24/7 exercise. Still, hundreds of them are seeking out nooks and crannies to raise chickens. Jennifer Lyon sees it as a simple way to return to childhood experiences and connect with the land.
It's so hard to get out of the city. It's so hard to get connected to nature, so having chickens is a little moment that you feed them in the mornings. You collect your eggs in the evening, and it's something really real and tangible part of your life.
So why has raising chickens in the backyard become so popular? The chicken farmers we spoke with say simply because it's so easy to care for them.
I think it's just everybody sort of wants to go back to kind of a simpler time.
Martha Lazar and other chicken keepers say part of the draw is that these birds require little attention. Water and food daily, of course, and a weekly cleaning of the coup.
It's a lot of fun. We really enjoy having them, and it makes for good party conversation.
People have been keeping chickens in New York City for the history of New York City. It's a city of immigrants, of migrants.
Owen Taylor is the city's resident chicken expert. On staff with a non-profit group, Just Food, he advises schools and community gardening groups across New York. And in the last five years, he's seen interest grow exponentially. Some 500 current or wannabe chicken farmers have joined the city's online chicken meet-up group. Taylor says they cross the demographic spectrum, but their motivation falls into two main areas.
People who grew up with chickens are really excited about getting back into it. At the same time, people who are interested in local food, sustainable food, knowing where their food came from are also getting into it.
Across the country, some 90 thousand people are getting into it. That's according to BackyardChickens.com. Just four years ago, the organization had only 50 members. There are many incentives. Parents like chickens for their kids. The droppings make great fertilizer for gardens, and one point of perhaps unanimous agreement: the eggs are unlike any other.
Even if you get organic eggs in the grocery store, if you put that egg up to one of my backyard eggs, you will notice the difference just in the raw form, and then you will taste the difference. It's like a creamy, buttery kind of taste, where a store egg, or even an organic store egg will taste a little mealy and little kind of flat tasting.
If there's a point of debate within the chicken community it's this: just how to view them, friend or fowl?
For me, they're livestock. We eat them. When they get too old, we'll make stock out of them. They're coq au vin.
But for others like Lazar, they are strictly pets and would never be eaten. It appears to be an idyllic life for the most part. But it's not a smooth ride for everyone. Backyard Chickens has tracked some 500 cities nationwide that allow backyard fowl. But in other communities it's illegal, mainly because of fears about sanitation and noise. That's why Taylor advises those who want new chickens develop neighborhood support, even in places like New York where it's legal.
We tell people to talk to their neighbors before keeping chickens to let them know that chickens are legal, to let them know that they will not smell or bring in flies or vermin, because they'll be well cared for.
Also in New York most neighbors are appeased, because roosters aren't allowed. Advocates like Taylor hope the current craze becomes a permanent part of the urban landscape.
I'm hoping it's not a fashion or trend but actually going back to our history as an agricultural people.
And for those in the fast lane, just maybe these simply creatures really will spark a better way of life.
I work 75 hours a week, and there's this thing about I'll come outside, and I'll see the chickens, and if I'm in my "go-go-go," I sort of force myself to stop and slow down and have a little chat with them. It's a forced slow-down which is really nice.
Reporting in Brooklyn, Heather Sells, CBN News.
Well, having raised chickens, I want you to know it isn't quite as antiseptic as that piece made it seem to be.
I have not raised chickens, but I've been around people who have. I will tell you this. When they are raised like that, they do taste different. They are fabulous.
Absolutely. The chicken meat and the eggs and everything if you give them the right kind of food. But you call them and they come to you. You know, "Chick, chick, chick," and they come running to get their food, so it's very interesting.
Some of them are quite beautiful actually.
At CBN a few years ago, we started something when Ben Kinchlow was here called, "Freedom Patches." And we went into the inner cities, places like Philadelphia, and there was some vacant land, not a whole lot of land, but there's always land. And these city dwellers each had a little patch. And we gave them a hoe, a bag of seed, a bag of fertilizer and some instructions in what to do. And so they had their own little gardens. They were canning vegetables, and it was a sustainable thing, so they're not at the mercy of the economy. It's really nice.
We're at the mercy I think of food that's coming from sources that you're not sure of.
Sure.
I think more and more people are becoming concerned about that.
Absolutely. Well, anyhow so much for the rural life. Those of you who yearn for it, it's always there.
If they can do it in New York, you can do it anywhere, right?
I'm one with horses and have to clean the stalls, and you know how it is. Manure isn't quite as romantic as they made it sound. And chicken manure, by the way, I might add, for those of you that garden, it's very hot. You cannot put it directly on vegetables; it'll kill them, because it is too hot. So you have to . . . .
Disburse it a little bit?
. . . . disperse it is a good word.
But it is good.
It's good but only in small quantities. Or maybe let it stay around for a while. But straight off the chicken into the garden, and your plants will start getting a little chicken sick. All right, what's next?
Well, we are kicking off our "Secrets of the Supernatural" week, and we start with one of the biggest miracles of all: a doctor who raised a man from the dead.
You'll hear both sides of that story when we return.
Hi there, neighbor. Pat Boone here for my good friends at Swiss America, the company that makes retirement dreams come true with gold. Tomorrow . . . .
It was the most incredible pain you can think of.
Trapped underneath a big rig . . . .
I should have bled to death in just a few minutes.
. . . . with 10,000 pounds across his chest.
Like a blunt guillotine and just crushed me in half.
. . . . and two Angels by his side.
The Angels were there to somehow hold me together.
Tomorrow on The 700 Club.
Recently we asked our fans on our Facebook if they've ever experienced the supernatural. Guess what, 90 percent of you in that category said, "Yes we have." Throughout this week, you'll meet people who agree. They're the ones who have seen angels, who have had visions and survived impossible things. This week we'll unlock the secrets of the supernatural. But first, we wanted to find out who believes in these miracles and why.
Yeah.
Why's that?
I believe in God. God can do anything.
Yes, some things happen that surprise you, maybe like you are at the right time in the right place. It's luck.
They might just see it as a coincidence, or it just depends on the individual's belief.
Well, I grew up Catholic. I think it was kind of like in my belief.
Well, I think childbirth is a miracle, that two people can make like another child.
They're always out there. You've just got to be ready, to have your eyes open and look for them.
You've heard stories of young people breaking their necks and never being able to walk again, and three weeks later they're walking. Is that a miracle or is it just because a doctor just misdiagnosed the kid? You tell me.
I still believe in miracles, yeah.
Well, could a miracle be a misdiagnoses? If anyone knows, it's Dr. Chauncey Crandall. Chauncey is a world-renowned cardiologist, and he prays for every patient he sees, including a man name Jeff Markin who died on an operating table.
On the morning of September 20, 2006, Jeff Markin remembers heading for work as usual. What he doesn't remember is driving himself to the hospital. He had called his boss and told him he didn't feel well. His boss was concerned and convinced Jeff to go to the emergency room. Somehow Jeff made it. Once he got there, he collapsed. Dr. Chauncey Crandall was doing rounds in the intensive care unit that morning.
An alert call came over the PA system that someone had arrived at the hospital with a massive deadly heart attack. And then a second call went out over the PA system and specifically asked for me, because I was the cardiologist on that day. When I arrived there, it was like a war zone. It was like being in battle. It was chaos, everyone there fighting to keep this man alive.
The ER staff worked on Jeff for 40 minutes. They shocked him a dozen times. Despite their efforts, there was no response. Once Dr. Crandall decided the team had done everything possible, he called the time of death.
Well, Chauncey Crandall is joining us right now. It's good to have you back on the 700 Club.
Thank you Pat, thank you.
Before I get into this story, just real quick, what do you do? Are you chief cardiologist in the hospital? What is your title? What experience have you got in these things?
Well, I'm director of Interventional Cardiology, Pat. At one of the large hospitals in Florida.
Director of Interventional Cardiology.
Correct.
And you were trained where?
I was trained to Yale and Duke and Medical College of Virginia.
And you've had years of experience in dealing with these matters?
Yes, 25 years.
You do open-heart surgery?
Well, I do the balloons and the stints.
How many of them have you done?
Tens and tens of thousands.
Okay, so you're not an amateur is what I'm trying to get it. This wasn't anything new to you.
No, I'm a conventional cardiologist. I love academics. I love research, and I pursue the best of science.
So you walked in this room that you were the head man and it's chaos.
It is chaos. When anyone dies, Pat, it's chaos; because we are all trained to work on this individual. We call an alert call, and everyone from all the corners of the hospital run to that room where that individual is being "coded." And Jeff was being coded that day, Pat. There was no life in his body. His body was a pitch black with cyanosis, with death. These doctors had worked on Jeff for 40 minutes, and there was no life in him. They wanted my opinion, "Dr. Crandall, is there anything that we can do to save this man?" And I said no, Pat. You've done everything. We need to end this. We need to call the code.
And so you did.
We called the code. He was dead. His arms were laying on the side of the stretcher, and the nurse was preparing his body for the morgue, sponging it down, cleaning it down. Everyone left the room except the nurse and myself.
And then what happened?
Well I left the room, too. I wanted to get started with my work that morning. But a voice came to me. It was the voice of God, Pat. And the voice said, "Turnaround and pray for that man." And I said to myself, "I can't pray for him, Lord. He's dead. There's nothing I can do." And I denied that voice, and I kept walking. And the voice came back again, "Turnaround and pray for that man." So I walked back in the room, Pat. I stood next to the body, and I said, "What am I going to pray, Lord? How do I pray? I've never prayed for a dead man like this." And all of a sudden, the Holy Spirit took over, Pat. And my prayer was this, "Father God, I cry out for this man's soul. If he does not know you as Lord and Savior, raise him from the dead now, in Jesus' name." The nurse was shocked. She looked at me. "What are you doing?" were the thoughts in her eyes. And all of a sudden the emergency room physician came in, and I said, "Shock this man one more time." He said, "No, Dr. Crandall; he's gone." I said, "Shock him one more time." And he brought those paddles over and blasted that body, and instantly a perfect heartbeat came back. And the abdomen started moving, Pat, and the hands started moving, and the feet started moving; and the nurse screamed, "What have you done?" I said, "I don't know, but we have to deal with this." And we took that man down to the intensive care unit; and three days later, Pat, he woke up with the most amazing story.
Well, he's here right now, you brought them. Dr. Crandall prayed a dead patient back to life, but don't take our word for it. The patient, Jeff Markin, is here with us right now..
Jeff, good to see you.
Thank you.
God bless you. You don't look dead to me.
I don't feel dead, either. I feel great.
Well, what's it feel like to be dead? Did you feel anything?
Peace.
Peace?
Total peace.
Did you know you were dying? You came into this room, and you fell, and here you're on this table.
I have no remembrance, recollection of that day and the incidents that happened other than my outer body and realizing that I had passed on. I just had total peace and tranquility during that time.
But you realized you had quote, "Passed on." You knew you were dead.
Oh, yeah.
But you were alive; your body was dead.
I would say that's a good description of what happened.
Did you see something or hear something?
Well, I mean, first recollection was standing in the back of the funeral home and wondering where all my friends and family were. I thought I had been loved, but nothing was going on. That's when I realized it was for me, that funeral.
You're sad, because nobody came to your funeral when you were dead?
Well I think the thing was, Pat, he said, "I was so disappointed. I was so disappointed." He kept repeating that statement, because no one was there. He was alone for eternity, Pat.
Wow! Then what happened?
Well, as that faded away, I remember staring at some bright lights that were all swirling over my head; and all of a sudden a very nondescript image came out of those lights. The lights actually stopped, and this image came out and told me that he was there to look over me and to make sure that everything was going to be okay. I didn't know exactly what he meant, because I didn't know what was going on. He said he had to go, but he would return. And the lights started swirling, and they stopped again. Again, I don't know the timeline, but then he did reappear; and he assured me that everything was going to be fine and that I was going to be good.
Who was the "he?" Was it Jesus? Was it an angel? Or do you know?
He didn't identify himself as an angel, but that's the only person or thing I could say that would be there to look over me. I can't believe that Satan would be there to look over me and make sure the that I was going to be fine.
Well, when he spoke those words, was there a feeling of peace or comfort?
Oh, yeah. I had total peace and harmony at that time. I had no worries. I just had it in his hands; and when he assured me that everything was going to be fine, he said he had to go. The next thing you know, I was waking up in my daughter's arms.
That's incredible. Were you aware of what Dr. Crandall had been doing, that he'd prayed for you? You were aware of that?
I wasn't aware until several days later when he was doing his rounds and checking up on me, that he told me the extent. My daughter told me that I had a heart attack, but I didn't know how severe it was until Dr. Crandall came in.
So, you went to see him, Chauncey.
Well, you know really he woke up three days later. He was in the intensive care unit. And when he was in the emergency room, a nurse came to me after we prayed for Jeff, and said, "I'm so mad at you. Why did you pray for that man? And now look at him; he's alive. He's going to be brain dead!" And three days later Jeff was in his room, and I walked in, and I said, "Jeff, tell me where you were that day," because it was the most amazing event. And he explained the story like he just did. But I said, "Jeff, today has to be the day of salvation. We need to bring you to Jesus." And there in that hospital room, you know, I grabbed his hand, and Jeff and I prayed. He accepted the Lord that day in the hospital room.
Yes, I did.
And the nurse that was giving me all the difficulty was standing outside that room. And when I walked out after praying with Jeff and after Jeff accepting Christ as Lord and Savior, this nurse said Dr. Crandall, "Your God must be real."
Wow!
And she said, "I cannot believe that this man is alive, and he's not brain dead. Your Lord must be real."
Jeff, what's your life like now? How different or is it different?
Oh, totally different. I'm definitely more humble, and I appreciate everything that goes on around me on a daily basis. But my walk in Christ has grown so strong. It took me about two years of walking, studying, going to sermons, and then I was re-baptized through our church. And at that time, my came so in balance and peaceful; and everything was in harmony. The light of God has just so shown on me that I don't have any dark spots in my life at all.
Has that person, that "being" come back to see you ever?
No.
Never? Has the Lord appeared and spoken to you?
No.
No?
I think he has spoken to me in other ways, by going to church and making my walk stronger. And the people that I come in contact with and tell my testimony to. I believe God is talking to me in that way. By being here four and half years after the fact, the roots of the testimony are still spreading.
Amen.
I don't think that it's born it's fruit.
Sure. Well, Chauncey, something caused the heart attack.
Oh yes, he had a massive heart attack. Massive heart attack.
Now, was that healed? Have you fixed that?
Well, he had to have some work on his heart, but the heart attack was extreme. Massive! Huge heart damage. And really, his heart is almost back to normal now, Pat.
Phew! Man.
Simply by praying, Pat.
I hear you. I think you ought to pray for people. I don't know. You all feel your faith rising with this man of medicine and man of God that's here? He's got a tremendous faith. I think you ought to pray. There are people in this audience. They may have heart trouble, they may have all kinds of trouble. But it doesn't matter, does it?
Well, let's pray. "Father God, in the mighty name of Jesus, you are great, Lord Father, and you are perfect in every way, and you are the only Lord, Father God. We thank you for your son, Jesus." And all of you that are looking out there, we pray to you. "We send the Holy Spirit, Jesus, to you that your bodies are healed, that you are mended and that you have a long life. And we bind cancer, and we bind heart disease. And we bind infirmity in your house, and we cast it out of your homes and command it to leave right now in Jesus' name. And everyone in this room, we speak healing over your body that you live a long life, that you are well and that you are healed, in Jesus' mighty name, amen."
Amen. Man, it's good to have you guys with us. Chauncey has written a book called, Raising the Dead, A Doctor Encounters the Miraculous. You really ought to get a copy of this. Where do they get it?

And it has Jeff's story in there, one of many stories.
So this isn't the only one you've seen? You see a number of . . . .
I've seen two others.
Two others, raising the dead?

Well, still ahead, a tornado sucks an eight-year-old boy right out of his bedroom.
As he reached for RJ, the wind came and just the whole house blew.
In an instant I see RJ move and the walls go right behind him.
Hear how he walked out of that storm next.
I stuck my head in the sink. I filled it up with my head in the water; in a few minutes I'd be gone. And I remember at that moment, jerking my head out of the water. All of a sudden, the room fills with this glorious light. And I turn around to see what's going on, and there is Jesus. And He's standing in front of me with this big grin and smile on his face. And it was at that lowest point that He met me.

Welcome back to The 700 Club.
The rash of wildfires blazing throughout the West shows no sign of dying out. So far this year, the flames consumed 1.2 million acres. That's more than in all of 2010. Three dozen wildfires are burning in 10 states. Hardest hit are Texas and Arizona where severe drought is feeding the fire.
We need rain. We really need rain.
Our biggest challenge right now is drought conditions, extreme fire danger.
In Arizona more than 1000 firefighters are taking on two huge blazes. Those fires have consumed at least 44 homes and forced thousands to evacuate. In Texas the fires closed I-45, the major highway between Dallas and Houston. Officials evacuated about 200 families from the town of Midland.
CBN World Reach in Thailand held their fourth annual Kids Camp. The camp gives children the opportunity to learn about Jesus through games, songs, and other activities. Children ages six through fourteen can attend. The children's parents are given the opportunity to hear the Gospel message as well. This year 115 children and parents attended the event; 27 children decided to follow Jesus. You can find out more about CBN World Reach by logging on to CBN.com/WorldReach. Pat and Terry will be back right after this.

Well, throughout this week we're running poll questions on our website, and today's question is, "Do you believe that God still heals today like he did in the New Testament?"
You can weigh in on that by logging on to CBN.Com. We'll have the results for you tomorrow. Well, 2011 has been called the year of the tornado, and the year isn't even half over. So far, more than 1000 tornadoes have killed more than 500 people. Eight-year-old JR Eppes should have been one of them after he was sucked out of his bedroom.
I could see my eight-year-old getting up on the top bunk; and right when he's getting up, and I'm getting ready to grab him, the shearing comes in so quick. So in an instant, I see RJ move and the walls go right behind him.
On Aril 27, 2011, a fierce tornado sucked 8-year-old Reginald Eppes, Jr., out of his bedroom. His parents, Reginald Sr. and Danielle, remember the desperate prayers they prayed as their lives unraveled in the furious winds. That storm was part of a violent tornado outbreak across the South that left some 350 people dead and entire communities in ruins. In the town of Cottondale, Alabama, the Eppes' quiet neighborhood was caught off guard just after 5 a.m.
I noticed that the wind was kind of strong, but I didn't think much about it.
She says "Baby, do you want get the boys up?" And I said, "Uh," and before I could finish that statement, the lights went out, and the winds started going, and the windows blew.
So I went to grab Joel, my younger son, and Reginald grabbed James Peter and went to grab R.J.; and as he reached for R.J., the wind came and the whole house blew.
The violent tornado ripped through this neighborhood, shredding houses in its path. It completely tore the Eppes' home off its foundation right here, taking little R.J. with it.
I didn't have time to be fearful. My concern was, my 8-year-old is gone. Okay, what do I have? I have my 6-year-old. I was praying over him, and I said, "Daddy's got you, so don't worry." I said, "I'm not going to let you go, buddy."
We were just kneeling there calling out to God for Him to protect us. I had to absolutely rely on God and trust that He was going to protect my son.
The winds died down, and within seconds Reginald and Danielle say they witnessed a miracle.
When it was all over, I called for RJ twice. "R.J.! R.J.!" And the lightning struck, and I could see his silhouette that he was walking back to us.
R.J. had only minor cuts and a few bumps and bruises.
I did have a sense of relief when I saw RJ walking back to me. Because he was walking towards me, I knew that he was fine.
There's no words can tell you how I felt, because I was just happy.
I saw a log float past me, so I actually knew that I was in the tornado. I think I woke up when I was about to float down.
I'm not sure how far the wind carried him, but I know that he walked back to me. Very few of my possessions are still whole, and yet my 52-pound son is completely fine except for a couple of scrapes that were on his back.
Reginald, Sr., was treated for three broken ribs and a collapsed lung, injuries he sustained when he was hit by a flying appliance during the tornado.
That's pretty astounding, because if you look at it, there was too much debris. It was just too much devastation to have such minor injuries.
Reginald has since returned to work as a firefighter. Even now amid the debris and splintered memories, the Eppes have hope for their family's future.
"Soon you'll be rebuilding your dream house."
"Building our dream house; that's right."
"I see the smiles."
"Yes."
"Will it be bigger?"
"Yes!"
I'm standing on these grounds, and we get to start over. We get to open the book, flip the page and start stroking the pen on a new life.
For Reginald and Danielle, the miraculous survival of their son, R.J., and their entire family has only strengthened their faith in Jesus.
Our faith that we have as a family, that's what sustains us through our whole ordeal. I think that's what allowed us to see that when you lose everything, you lose nothing at all, because He's the one that sustains us and keeps us together. You can buy a house. You can buy clothes and cars. But you can't buy your children and your wife, the things that actually mean something.
Jesus carried us all. It's a miracle that all of our lives were spared and that we were all safe. It's an absolute miracle! I think it illustrates His love for us, His divine protection and His care.
Instead of getting thrown to the other side of my neighbor's house, I was right beside my parents. It's a miracle that I was alive.
Wow, if that doesn't build your faith, nothing will. Goodness sakes. I mean just considering all of the death that's been a part of these thousand plus tornadoes, this is an amazing miracle.
You get sucked out of the side of the house. We never could really figure out where he went. He said he was over in the neighbor's yard, but . . . .
And gently sat back down on the ground. Unbelievable.
God answers prayer. So, are we going to pray? What's going to happen?
Yes, we're going to pray.
Well, folks, you've heard some of these stories. You're going to hear many more this week. We deal with a God. His name is Yahweh. You read in the Old Testament, capital L, capital O, capital R, capital D. You see that over and over again. Praise the Lord, O my soul. It's a translation of Yahweh, and it means, "He who causes everything to be." So the God we serve is the one who is responsible for everything. He made the world. He made everything in it. He did it all. And it's no problem with Him to answer your prayer. All He says is, "Yes, do it." "Let there be," and it is. "Let there be light and may the earth come forth," and it does, because He speaks the Word. And He's given us the authority as His children to believe for this kind of thing. Now, I'm not talking about some hocus-pocus, mind over matter kind of thing. I'm talking about praying to the Lord God of Hosts. Now, Terry and I are going to join hands together, and we're going to believe God for you, whatever that need is. "Father, Lord, we join together. Even as you taught us, we join together. And we pray in Jesus' name. Now Lord, we know with you all things are possible. With you, nothing is impossible. And so we come before you the needs of people. There are people in this audience who are suffering. They've had strokes. They've got cancer. They have heart conditions. They have valves that aren't working. They have varicose veins. They have tumors. They have deafness and blindness. Lord, we pray right now that you'll fix them.
Yes.
In the name of Jesus, Lord we speak forth the miracle power of the Lord God of Hosts. In the name of Jesus, receive an answer to your prayer. May the Lord touch you, fix you, touch. And may the power of God be upon you where ever you are. Begin to praise Him and thank Him. Terry, did God give you something?
Here's somebody. You've been diagnosed with COPD and you are so fearful about that but God has just completely healed you. Just breathe freely now as all of that just dissipates. And there's someone else, you've been diagnosed with polyps in your sinus cavity, down your vocal cords. God is completely taking that away from you. Receive it now in Jesus' name.
Thank you Lord. Thank you Jesus. Receive an answer. Whatever it is, receive an answer. Just raise your hands and began to thank the Lord. You might touch whatever it is that hurts and say in Jesus' name, be healed. Thank you, Lord, amen. Amen. Praise God.
Well, we've got some questions. You ready to answer some?
We've got questions? I guess. I'll let you know.
This is from Benjamin who says, "Why are some people healed, but others aren't? Is it a lack of faith?"
You know, I think Kathryn Kuhlman said, when she gets to God she's going to ask Him that question. Because we really don't know.
We don't know.
We really don't know. Is it lack of faith? Are we praying for the wrong thing? Is a demonic when we should be casting out demons, instead we're asking for healing? When Jesus was here on earth there wasn't one sick person who came to Him who wasn't healed. Not one. But He knew whether it was psychosomatic. He knew whether it was demonic. He knew whether it was physical. He knew whether it was a curse from the ancestors. He knew all these things. And so when he dealt with people, "There, immediately." We don't know that. We don't have the knowledge that Jesus did. If we did, we could do better if we have the power. Somehow we see through a glass darkly. So why don't some people get healed? I don't know.
I don't either.
I really don't know. But somebody said the greatest hindrance to faith is so-called, "Holy invalids." They're people who you think, "Well they're holy; they ought to be healed. And they're not being healed, so God must be at fault." Not at fault. You never know what's going on in somebody's mind or heart. You never know what's going on inside of their heart. All right.
Okay, this is Kristi who says, "We've lived in a home many years ago, and on several occasions, we saw or felt a ghost. For some reason it never frightened us. Is there such a thing as a "Good" ghost?"
No, there's no such thing as a quote, "Good ghost." I believe that these manifestations are demon spirits. It may be because you are Christians they didn't molest you; they didn't hurt you.
Or bother you in anyway. Sometimes they're just annoying.
Yeah. But they're not ghosts. They're not dead people. What they are, are demons. And there are demons in the world and they can manifest themselves as the dead departed.
This is Dawn who says, "I have a question about ghosts. Are they our deceased ancestors trying to communicate with us or something demonic?"
I just think I answered it. Aunt Mazi doesn't communicate with you. She's gone and if she's a Christian, you'll join her in Heaven later on. But not now. She's not going to come back and talk to you.
Okay, this is Marquita who says, "When someone dies, can they come back as someone else? I'm wondering because my daughter acts a lot like my grandmother who died before she was born."
There could be a so-called, "Familiar spirit." Like the family that the spirit knew everything about your grandmother and can bring those characteristics to the child.
Or it could be just a natural hereditary factor, right?
Yeah, but it's happening after. The woman's dead and this child is growing up. It could be hereditary, sure. But there's more than that probably. I don't believe in reincarnation. The Bible is very explicit. It's appointed unto man once to die, and after that the judgment. We do not die and come back in different forms. And I think that's the Hindu version of a cycle, a wheel of life where this certain karma attaches to you, and you come back as a dog and you come back as a dung beetle, and you come back as Marie Antoinette, and you come back as Cleopatra, and you keep coming back as something. No way. Appointed unto men, once to die, and after that the judgment. And when you see what Jesus had to say about the rich man and the beggar, Lazarus and Dives, the rich man died; he was in Hell. He looked up and saw Abraham, and he saw the beggar. They all had their earthly identity, and they knew exactly what they were doing. But they weren't coming back to earth to talk to us, nor were they coming back in a different form. Okay.
This is Shannon who says, "I have had some visions of different people walking through the air. What could it mean?" Probably just what you're saying.
I think we've got to acknowledge the fact that some people are naturally psychic. They have powers that are paranormal or whatever it is that they can see beyond the realm. What we see is what's here. But they can see beyond that. God sees beyond it, and there's an invisible world beyond what we can imagine. There is something called the "gift" or the "manifestation of discerning spirits." And you can see the spirits behind people. So you see stuff like this. Maybe it is that you have a heightened sense, or maybe there is a manifestation of discerning spirits. I don't know. All right.
This is Nancy. "Does God answer the prayers of an unbeliever?"
Sure, He does. I think He answers the prayers which will lead them to Jesus. He's not going to bless an unbeliever. In other words, an unbeliever saying, "Oh God, give me money." And he's in sin and unbelief and so he gets money. He says, "I was having fornication and drunkenness and doing séances, and I got a lot of money. So it must be that was the key." God will not do that. He will not establish you in sin. But on the other hand, if you're legitimately seeking Him, He will allow you to be found by Him, and He will answer your prayer.
Absolutely. And we thank you for your questions. We do love to hear from you.
It's so nice to have you back from the Ukraine.
Thank you, it's a wonderful to be back.
God bless you. Well, tomorrow, he severed five major arteries, should have died, but he lived because there were two angels by his side. You don't want to miss it on tomorrow's show. We leave you with these words from Hebrews . . . .
"It is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him."
Tomorrow . . .
