It was the most incredible pain you can think of. Trapped underneath a big rig . . . . I should have bled to death in just a few minutes. . . . . with 10,000 pounds across his chest. Like a blunt guillotine and just crushed me in half. . . . . and two Angels by his side. The Angels were there to somehow hold me together. Well, you’ve asked for it, and this week you’re going to get it, a week of supernatural, a week of miracles, a week where angels come to people, secrets of the supernatural. You don’t want to miss one minute of it. See how one man was rescued from almost certain death when two angels lifted the truck that was crushing his body. All you need to do is log on to our chat room at CBN.com. But first in the news, the situation in Japan remains bleak. Three months after the earthquake and tsunami sparked a nuclear crisis, more than 90,00 evacuees are trying to cope in the aftermath. But as Charlene Israel reports, Christians in Japan are reaching out despite the danger to themselves. Despite the danger of deadly radiation, workers at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant still come to work. For at least seven men, it's a daily test of their faith in God's divine power to protect them from harm. Akira Sato is their pastor. Some go there bravely, but they are also fearful. But they have faith in God and our church is supporting them with prayer. American missionary Scot Eaton used to teach English at the church. It’s just a few miles away from the plant. He tells of one plant worker who sought refuge at the church’s shelter after the earthquake and tsunami. In the time he was with the church, he became a Christian and felt God was telling him to go back and share this message with his co-workers. Many members of the church and the community evacuated the outskirts of Tokyo. This group of refugees channeled their despair and anger into their drums. Yokoyama is the leader of the group. He says the drums are therapy. Everything I had, my business, my house, I built with my own hands, my family and I had to leave everything behind. When I am at home, I begin to panic; but when I am playing, I have happiness even for a short while. While Pastor Sato's church moved far away from their community, many evacuees stayed near their homes, even though radiation levels are dangerously high. Here, a Christian church is helping some 2,500 refugees by giving "life starter kits." Each kit includes basic needs like kitchenware, appliances, and even some furnishings. Pastor Toyomi Sanga of Grace Community Service said the kits bring hope to the evacuees. We met a mother and her daughter, and both are single moms. They contemplated on committing suicide together, but when we met them, they said they realized God is alive. As we meet the needs of the refugees and pray for them, they asked why we do this. And we tell them the Bible says we need to love in action. That great love in action despite the fact they might well have radiation poisoning. They stay in there to minister to people. It’s just a beautiful story, and these things are showing faith in action. Well, Wendy Griffith has the rest of our top stories from the CBN News room. Wendy. Pat, religious groups are demanding an explanation from NBC for omitting the words "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance aired during the U.S. Open. NBC has issued two apologies so far. The broadcast began with a clip of children reciting the oath. “Under God" was edited out not just once, but twice. Take a look. Viewers immediately noticed the cut and started posting complaints on Facebook and Twitter. Later during the broadcast, NBC apologized for the omission, saying the network didn't intend to offend anyone. NBC Sports also issued a written apology Monday calling it a “bad decision.” But today on the CBN News channel, Jordan Sekulow from the American Center for Law and Justice said NBC’s apology is not enough. You know, it’s unbelievable. In this apology, the one on air and the written statement, they never even say what they did wrong. So during the whole broadcast, the final day of the U.S. Open where people are watching around the world—and this was a great way to show America to the world. But when they deleted “under God,” and then they apologized three hours later, they never said what words were removed. Jordan Sekulow is encouraging viewers to sign on to the ACLJ’s letter of protest. The U.S. Supreme Court will decide whether churches and ministries have a right to hire or fire employees who disagree with their religious beliefs. The American Center for Law and Justice has filed a brief defending the rights of ministries. They argue if a church, or a school associated with a church, makes an employment decision, government agencies should not interfere. ACLJ Chief Council Jay Sekulow says quote, “Government clearly has no business choosing priests, rabbis, or ministers, nor should government agents be ordering church schools to hire or retain teachers the school does not want.” The Supreme Court will likely hear arguments in the fall. Americans are giving more to charity than in recent years. The new report shows charitable donations jumped by at least $10 billion last year. The Giving USA Foundation reports $291 billion in donations in 2010, most of the increases from corporations. Individual grew only slightly, but those donations made up about 73% of all gifts. Well turning overseas now, America has reached a major milestone in the Afghanistan war. Troops are set to begin coming home next month. President Obama will announce just how many will be homeward bound in a much anticipated speech tomorrow. Efrem Graham has more. The president is still in a process of finalizing his decision on the pace and scope of the drawdown that will begin in July of 2011. The decision is a balancing act for the president. I feel like we have the initiative. We have the momentum. Maintaining a troop level that allows the military to maintain its momentum in Afghanistan, even as polls show more than half of Americans say the war is not worth the cost. If we accelerate withdrawal right now because we're war weary, we're going to lose this war. I think that when you look at the situation on the ground in Afghanistan, it's bleak. Right now, there are more than 100,000 U.S. troops in Afghanistan. And Diplomatic relations with the country are tense. When I hear some of your leaders call us occupiers and likened to the brutal enemies of the Afghan people, my people in turn are filled with confusion, and they grow weary of our effort here. The biggest question: what will become of the country once the U.S. pulls out? Afghan President Hamid Karzai said the United States is already talking with the Taliban. President Obama recently said he is open to talks, but only under certain conditions. The Taliban would have to cut all ties to al-Qaeda, renounce violence, and they would have to respect the Afghan constitution. The president's decision on withdrawing troops isn't the only big change on the table. He's also losing senior U.S. leaders who have years of experience managing the war. Defense Secretary Robert Gates is retiring next week. And David Petraeus, the top U.S. general Kabul is being reassigned to the CIA. Pat, that’s big news. I, for one, am sick of this Afghan thing. I question whether or not we should have gotten so deeply involved in it. I think the government of Hamid Karzai is corrupt. I think there’s corruption all over the country. The government in Kabul has really no authority throughout the country. There are warlords all over the place. The opium trade is rife. It is a stinking mess. The thing is, though, the Taliban—what the president said that they will renounced of ties to al-Qaeda, that’s nonsense. The Taliban are ultra Wahhabi adherents. They are the ones who used to beat the women for having their dresses a little bit too short. They’re the ones who didn’t let women go to school. They’re the ones who shot and murdered people because of adultery, and maybe blasphemy or whatever. I mean, it was just disgusting what they did. They enforced a reign of terror that’s every bit as bad as the Nazis, and to say they’re going to renounce ties to the al-Qaeda? Come off it! That’s nonsense! And what they’re saying is we’re going to wait for you to pull out. We’ll take it easy; we’re going to back off, and we’re going to make nice until you leave. And as soon as you start leaving and you start getting into a vulnerable position, we’re going to take over your heavy equipment, and we’re going to use it to run the show ourselves. That’s what they said. It’s one of those things that you’re in the middle of it; you might as well finish it well and not with your tail between your legs. Wendy. Pat, graphic new warning labels will soon cover packs of cigarettes. Today the Food and Drug Administration released nine new labels showing negative health effects of tobacco use. The images will take up the top half of cigarette packages. The same labels will also appear in ads. Among the new warnings released are images of rotting teeth and decaying lungs. Cigarette makers have till the fall of 2012 to comply. Well, you’ve probably heard at least one story of someone donating a kidney to a loved one. Well, now one Idaho man is going a step further, donating his kidney to a complete stranger. David Hendricks was talking to his pastor after a church service; that's when he said something miraculous happened. In the middle of the conversation, for whatever reason—well the Lord knows the reason—I said to him, "Hey, by the way, Kurt needs a kidney." So I asked him, “Kurt who?” and he said, “Kurt Davis.” And I was like, “Okay, well, whoever that is.” I had no idea what to say, and I’m I'm still at awe with it, still speechless. What can I say?” Wow! Of course, the chance that two strangers are a match for an organ donation is very small, but these two were. While many are calling it a “lucky coincidence,” Hendricks said it has nothing to do with luck. He says it was all part of God's plan. Absolutely, Pat. Beautiful thing. No greater love has this that a man would lay down his life for his friend, and this was somebody that wasn’t even a friend, and he’s willing to sacrifice himself. You don’t die if you give up a kidney; you have two of them. But if your other one goes bad, then, of course, you do die. And the Lord gave us a spare kidney for a reason. So that’s a real sacrificial act. Well, when an elected official breaks the public trust, people can take steps to vote him out of office. But recourse is available if a pastor or another religious leader is at fault? Efrem Graham reports on a movement to answer this need for accountability. Scandalous headlines used to be limited to celebrities and politicians. More and more, however, church leaders are also getting into the act from Teg Haggart to a long line of Catholic priests to the latest, Megachurch Pastor Bishop Eddie Long who recently settled a sexual misconduct lawsuit filed by four young men. If you are a man of faith, why would you settle out of court? If you have God and you have innocence, those are the most two powerful things you have. David fought Goliath and he won with God. The confidential settlement sparked loud calls for answers. Columnist and talk show host Roland Martin is among the most outspoken. He has attended services at New Birth, shared the stage with Bishop Eddie Long at public events and read his books. The moment you go outside of your church doors, and the moment you extend that ministry beyond New Birth, beyond the doors to the rest of the world, then you have invited folks in. Don't invite the praise in; do not invite the worship in; don't invite the tithes and the offerings in, but then when it’s your time to catch Hell, you don't want the criticism to come in. We did reach out to New Birth for this story and were told currently Bishop Long is not available for any interviews. Though he may be willing to talk in the future. Bishop Long is certainly not the first popular pastor to find himself caught in the middle of a scandal and a struggle to decide what to say to the media if anything. Still there is one audience no pastor can avoid: the congregation. Helping pastors and congregations work through those tough times is part of the mission of the International Communion of Evangelical Churches. Our level of integrity has to be uppermost. We must live what we preach. We can’t stand as a prophetic voice of righteousness if we live unrighteous lives. Bishop Harry Jackson says the group will routinely interview families of key leaders, visit their churches, and hold retreats, so pastors can be accountable to God and each other. Most leaders don't disclose their struggles, because the way many of our communions and organizations are structured, you’d be fired because you have a struggle. We’re saying let’s talk, let's be open, let's recognize people need safe places to go; and we believe all of that will be preventative from someone rising up really high and then fall really low. And for those who do fall, fellow ministers armed with scripture stand ready to help restore. The body of Christ is too important and too fragile to lose any soldiers. I don't believe any of God's people should be thrown away, especially the leaders. We need to restore them. They need to go through restoration, but there is a process. Sometimes it's a year. Sometimes it's two years. But whatever it takes to get them restored, that is what we must do. And as pastors are restored to the pulpit, it’s also important not to forget those sitting in the pew, church members who may have been hurt in the crisis. It happens every day in every church. That’s how common it is; and I think sometimes people don't want to discuss it, because church is not the place where you are supposed to be hurt. It is the place you go for refuge to be healed. Angela Corprew-Boyd turned her church pain into a book to help others. It’s called Church Hurt: The Wounded Trying to Heal. People want to know the truth. And when people know the truth, they can deal with it in their own way but also allow the word of God to address them right where they are. They respect you more when you tell the truth. And it’s this truth that makes men free. Efrem Graham, CBN News. I think people need to recognize the burden that pastors are under. They're alone, they're out there by themselves; and they're considered up on a pedestal, and people don't think they have flaws. They're fallible human beings like everybody else. Look at the Bible, at some of the great men like David; what he did. He was a human being. He was a virile male, and he had these urges. These guys need help, but I have no idea about Eddie Long. I think the other fellow was mentioned out in Denver I believe it was. He was having some serious problems about his sexual identity, but this kind of stuff goes on. The airwaves are just saturated with sexual materials, saturated. There are a number of ministers unfortunately, according to what I heard from somebody who used to work for Focus on the Family who said maybe 30 to 40% of the ministers have a problem with porn. It's serious. Well, porn is just a challenge, because it's the secret sin. Well, I know and they need help, but who can they go talk to? This organization is primarily for black ministers but God bless them. Terry Jackson is a terrific guy, and I hope they do well. I crawled in through the hut, and it was terrible. Right in the one side, there was just this body. I went up and I put my hands on the body, and I prayed the prayer of faith. And I said to her, “In the name of Jesus, stand up.” This is a special week for us. Visiting Angels, visions of Jesus, miraculous healings, the supernatural is very real; and the supernatural is very present in our world today. Bruce Van Natta knows that firsthand. Bruce also knows that he would not be alive today without the help of two Angels. Bruce Van Natta loved trucks, and his job as a self-employed diesel mechanic helped this Christian family man live out his power truck dreams and provide for his wife and four children. He never gave a second thought to the dangers of working on engines that weighed thousands of pounds until November 16, 2006. I was working on a PeterBuilt logging truck about an hour from our home. And the guy that I was working with that day, the driver of the truck, asked me if I would look and try and diagnose one more problem, one more leak before I left. So, if you could picture one of these great big PeterBuilt trucks, here’s the front bumper, and I slipped underneath the great big chrome bumper feet first. And he had had the front axle jacked up in the air, and the passenger side wheel removed. The axle is going right across my chest at this point, maybe an inch or two above my chest. Then just as Bruce slipped under the truck, the 20-ton capacity jack holding up the truck shot out from its position. And this 10,000 to 12,000 pounds of weight that is on these two front wheels, on this axel, came down across my mid-section, basically like a blunt guillotine, and just crushed me in half. Blood had splattered inside of my throat, the back of my throat, when it fell. And I could see that there was less than an inch of air space between the bottom of the axel and the cement. So I knew that I was thinner, that my body was thinner than an inch. The man jacked the truck up off of me. I begged him to get me out from underneath the truck. He didn’t want to, because he could tell that I had to have a broken back and I did. My vertebrae in my back were cracked the width of the axel. It was the most incredible pain you can think of. I’ve never felt any kind of pain like that. The very next thing, I just called out, “Lord, help me.” I called it out twice, “Lord, help me.” Instantly, all of the pain left Bruce’s body. At that point, I went unconscious. My spirit left my body and floated up into the ceiling, and now my spirit is looking down on the accident scene from above. The man I had been working with was on his knees above my body. He’s talking. I can hear him talking. He’s saying things like, “I’m sorry. I’m sorry.” But on each side of him, also on their knees was a huge angel. Their heads stuck up at least this much taller than his head, so if you would have stood them up, they would have had to have been like eight feet tall. They did not have wings, they just very broad shoulders. Again, between the two angels and him, it took up the whole front of his truck. There was a bright light shining around each one of them. They were matching bookends. They looked identical. They just had their arms underneath the truck, not holding the truck up but had their arms angled in towards my body. There was no pain, in fact, just peace. And I can’t even describe, words can’t describe the peace that I felt in this healing. Bruce knew he had a serious choice to make. I was definitely on the point, on the verge of life and death. There were two voices, thoughts in my head. One was, “Shut your eyes, give up, and die. You are just going to go to Heaven anyway.” It was very loud. There was another voice in my head, thought, much quieter, more of a whisper. And that one said, “If you want to live, you’re going to have to fight, and it’s going to be a hard fight.” And the next thing I knew, my spirit went back down into my body like that, just like a shot. Bruce was conscious as he was flown on a life flight to the hospital. Doctors there doubted he would even survive the next few hours. His ribs were broken, his pancreas and spleen crushed, and several major arteries had been severed. I had five places that major arteries were completely severed. I found out from doctors that were was a medical study done in 2001. According to that study, by the University of Southern California, they’ve used my case and compared it against that study. And according to that, they can’t find anyone else in the world that has ever lived with five major arteries being severed. So I should have bled to death in just a few minutes. So, my thought is the angels were there to somehow hold me together. Bruce stayed in the hospital for over two months and survived five major surgeries. Yet he had overwhelming obstacles to overcome. Almost 75 percent of his small intestines were crushed in the accident and had to be removed. An adult has 18 to 20 some feet of small intestine, they say, roughly. Somebody came in and told us they didn’t expect me to live much more than a year. I’m going to starve to death. I was losing weight very rapidly. They were feeding me intravenously. Bruce’s once 180-pound frame dropped to 126 pounds. But Bruce’s family was praying, and his community rallied around him. Then Bruce received an unexpected visitor in his hospital room one day. The Lord woke up a man in New York two days in a row, someone that I met one time on vacation. And he came and prayed for me in the hospital. Put his palm on my forehead, and when he prayed, he prayed the way Jesus taught us to pray. And he spoke to the mountain, in this case my intestine, and he said, “Small intestine, I command you to supernaturally grow back length in the name of Jesus Christ.” And when he did, it felt like 220 volts came out of his palm into my forehead, right into my body. And I could feel my intestines moving around and going up and down. After a long nine months of surgeries and hospital stays, Bruce was eventually able to feed himself, and he gained weight, all the way up to 170 pounds. When he returned for testing, radiology reports; and doctors confirmed that he had almost nine feet of small intestine. His intestines had doubled in length. When they tested me, they said that the small intestines the Lord gave back to me were twice as good as normal. I don’t have my full amount. He gave me several feet back. Even though it’s half as much, they absorb the vitamins, the minerals, the nutrients that I eat into my body normally. Over and over, the Lord kept confounding the doctors from the point of saying that I shouldn’t have lived, I should have bled to death, to my intestines miraculously coming back. Over and over, God was showing miracles were happening. My pancreas rejuvenated by itself. My spleen rejuvenated by itself. Miracle after miracle after miracle, God just kept showing up and showing Himself very real and strong, that He is a miracle worker. Today, through their organization, Sweet Bread Ministries, Bruce and his family travel together to talk about supernatural healing. Bruce has also written a book called, “Saved by Angels.” Miracle after miracle after miracle. It’s exciting to just see what God is doing in people’s lives today, and that He is alive and well, and He wants to reach people at their point in need. And so we’ve got a God that loves us more than we can ever imagine. And He pours out His love on us in such an amazing way that it’s indescribable. Isn't that amazing? It's amazing, the thing is that the angels didn't heal him, and the Angels didn't really lift the truck. But they just somehow kept anything from . . . . Must be a point of protection in some strange way. It didn't get out of control. They held him—anyhow, a fabulous story. We have some questions now. We do have lots of questions. I think people are curious about angels. This is Tammy who asks, “Do people really have guardian angels?” The Bible doesn't say that. The Bible says that they are ministering spirits sent forth to the heirs of salvation. Now, I believe that God has angels that are attending. We can ask for angels. Angels appear on the scene for people. There are warrior Angels and others, but there's nothing in the Bible that I see that says every one of us has their own little guardian angel. That is stretching Scripture. Scripture says they're ministering spirits sent forth to the heirs of salvation. And that's what they are; they are the ministers to the heirs of salvation. This is Pamela who wants to know, “What do you angels do? Are they supposed to do whatever we command them to do? Is that how it works?” The idea, “angelos,” is a messenger. You know, the term, “euangelion” means “good news.” And “evangelism,” “good news.” So the angels were messengers, messengers of God to bring truth to the people. I was reading today and Zacharia about major angels that were declaring certain truths taking place in Israel. The angel of the Lord was there with Joshua for example. He led the armies. You look at Michael who's the angel defending the people of Israel, and he was in a war against the Prince of Persia, as he was bringing a message to Daniel. So you can go down the list, but the real name for “angel” is “messenger.” They’re messengers of God. This is one I've never heard before. Shonda says, “My mother says Jesus was an angel before he was God's son. I disagree. Who is right? Shonda, you are absolutely right. There's nothing in the Bible that indicates Jesus was any kind of an angel. You read Hebrews; it says He is above the angels. The thing of it is, God has given us the privilege as heirs of salvation of one day being above the angels. Right now, we're under the angels. The angels are more powerful than we are. But Jesus was above all. He's the son of God. He was never an angel. No way did he transition from being an angel to being God's son, no way. Okay, this is Miles who says, “Is there any scriptural basis to the belief that angels can heal us?” I'm trying to think right now. I think angels have enormous power, and there's no reason why they can't. I think if they touch you—I'm thinking of, I believe it was Daniel, an angel appeared to him. He fell faint. He was in a swoon. But why not? The angel lifted him up, gave them strength. So I think angels have the power to bring healing, but I can't give you chapter and verse right now. I'm sorry. Okay this is Heather who wants to know, “Why do some people get to see angels and others don't?” Well, in the book of Corinthians there certain enablement's that are manifestations of the Holy Spirit. One of them is called “discerning of spirits” and is not discerning of demons, and it's not discerning of angels. Nevertheless, there is an enablement of the Holy Spirit which gives us the ability to see into supernatural world. Nathaniel was there with Jesus, and he said, “I saw you when you were under the tree.” And Jesus said, “Well, the times going to come that you're going to see the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” There are manifestations many, many, times in the Old Testament where angels appeared to various people. They were called theophanies and some other term. But they were called “the angel of the Lord.” Many times it was God himself, or it was a manifestation of Jesus; otherwise it was just angels. But nevertheless, they do appear, and it's up to them to appear. But why do they appear to some people? I don't know. I'm trying to think of—an angel that appeared to Mary, “Hail, highly favored of the Lord.” This is Renée who says, “When people describe angels, they say they wear white and have wings. But doesn't the Bible describe some types of angels as just being giant wheels with eyes? What gives? That was a vision of Ezekiel, and he saw wheels within wheels and having eyes. It doesn't say they were angels, but they were beings but not necessarily angels. If you look at the diagram of an atom, it looks like that. You see those little circles, wheels within wheels. I think God was giving his servant an understanding of the way the world works. But that wasn't necessarily angels. They don't have to have wings. Some of these beings you know, they have a head like a man, a head like an ox, and wings like—it goes down the list of some of the attributes. Okay, this is Bart who says, “Angels can sin, right? That's what happened to Lucifer. Can they still be wrong? Can they still make mistakes? Can they intervene on our behalf and do something for us that’s against God's will? No, I don't think they can do that. All the angels were there, and they were all in God's presence, and they were supernatural beings that He had created. And then Satan, the Bible says he was overwhelmed with a sense of his own beauty. Pride came in, and he began to think I can do a better job of running the universe that Almighty God can. And so he rebelled. If you read certain passages in Revelation, it looks like he took a third of the angels with him. So there was this tremendous revolt in Heaven, and it was led by Lucifer, that meant, “The Light One,” and he became Satan, the adversary, the devil, Diablos, which is the other name. You've got a number of names for the devil himself. But he was the leader of these fallen angels. So the question was, can they do wrong? Yes, they did wrong and they fell, and they are condemned to Hell. And the Bible says, Hell was prepared for the devil and his angels. So they know what's happening. Jesus was talking to some devil's with a man that was the Gadarene demoniac. He let them go into the pigs, and they said, “Don't send us to the pit before the time.” They knew they were going. They knew their end was coming, and when they do they'll be tormented forever and ever and ever. And the big thing is, human beings should not have a part in Hell, because that was set up for the devil and his angels. But the angels who follow God, can they do wrong? Yes they have free will, but do they? No they don't, at this point they're pure, and they're holy like the Seraphim. The decision has been made, the die has been cast. That's right, and they know the consequences. I don't think you're going to see them rebelling against God. Well, that's all the time we have for your questions on angels today. Should they allow their newborn son to undergo chemotherapy when the chemo itself might kill him, if of course, the cancer didn't kill him first? Leukemia in newborns is very rare. But somehow Ethan Stacy of Beech Grove, Tennessee, was born with it. And according to his doctors, he would die from it. Ethan had AML which is a very aggressive type of leukemia. Children who are actually born with leukemia don't usually do very well. Dr. Melissa Rhodes was one of Ethan’s physicians at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. The best that we could offer was to put Ethan through difficult chemotherapy and still not know that he would make it through. In fact, chemo is so toxic for newborns that doctors gave Ethan’s parents the option not to treat their son. We came home and I remember lying in bed and praying. We said, “God, give us an answer.” We both woke up the next morning and both said, “Nope, we’re not going to put him through it.” So Chad and Mandy Stacy took their son home. A few days later, tumors started popping up all over Ethan’s body. Feet, his hands, and his forearm. That’s when he started not breathing. Then he took his final turn for the worst. I called Vanderbilt and said, “What do I do if something happens?” And they told me not to call 911. The nurse told me that he might hemorrhage which then I would see blood in his diaper and coming out of his ears. Ethan was near death when Chad and Mandy took the painful walk through the cemetery to see the place they would bury their son. I just knew that God was with us, and I just kept praying that His will be done in everything. Mandy, I can't imagine. There was a volume of questions behind your questions to the nurses, “What do I do?” I mean, the question, “What do I do if he dies? What do I do with my son’s body?” What was going through your mind at that time? Mandy Stacy (Son Healed of Aggressive Leukemia): Right. It was very scary just thinking of what could occur. Just a lot of dread, just a lot of dread. Here you were walking through a cemetery, Chad, trying to figure out where you would bury your son. What went through your mind at that time as a dad? I guess that we’re actually, we just had a newborn baby, and we're fixing to bury him. So here you are going through this living day to day, wondering how long this is going to happen. You're physically seeing Chad get worse. I mean, he had sores on his body. Tumors began to develop, not one, not two, but literally all over his body. So you're seeing the manifestation of what doctors are saying is a possibility. Mandy, when did it begin to turn around? What happened? Well he became really sick where he was having periods of apnea, where he would stop breathing for a matter of 30 seconds to a minute. Just gradually he got better. He started feeding and eating and just like a typical newborn baby. I remember we were talking and praying. I remember saying to Chad, “I think he's being healed. We told doctors but their reaction was that we were both in denial. Was it hard to believe for that with what you were seeing with your eyes? I mean, until he began take the food, even when he took the food, he still had the tumors. Right, right, right. So the tumors didn't really dissolve until gradually after he began to eat right? That's correct. So how did you hang onto faith in the middle of that? I don't know how. I just knew that he was with us. You just feel it, you just know. You had a church that was really standing with you, too, didn't you Mandy? Our church prayed and our friends. I mean, it meant the world to us. You know, one of the things that we love on this program is hearing what doctors have to say about healing. So let's listen to Dr. Rhode’s response to Ethan's recovery. Ethan had gotten about as sick as a baby could possibly get, and then spontaneously got better. So we wanted to look, was there still evidence of leukemia in Ethan, and we did the bone marrow test which showed no evidence of leukemia. For him to have gotten as absolutely sick as he did and then just turn around, spontaneously overnight, that's a miracle. That's a miracle and a miracle is with us. We'd like you to meet Ethan himself. Ethan, come on up here. You don't look sick a bit. You were so young when all of that happened. You probably don't remember any of it, but what do you think today when you hear people talk about what God has done for you? Is it hard to imagine that you actually went through all of that? Yeah. But you look pretty healthy today. What do you like to do in your free time, Ethan? What's fun for you? Playing on my DS. Playing on your DS, okay. Are you a sports guy? Do you like sports? Yes? Because you look like somebody who's really got some muscle. Baseball. Baseball? I like that, too. We've got some wonderful stories all this week on how God has done miracles, like he did for you, Ethan. You know, it's an unusual thing, isn't it, for a baby to be born with leukemia. That's kind of the difficulty here, that when that happens, the treatment, the prognosis for the treatment is not good at all. So, what you saw happen with Ethan is really an astonishing miracle. Chad, where did you get to the place where you could really exhale and say, “God has restored my son to me?” For me, just during the period that I knew His will was going to be done, that I was okay with him dying or living. I'm happy that he was living. Even eight years later, it's a powerful thing to see and to remember and to know what God did which was amazing.
