His wakeup call from a living nightmare.
Well, welcome to this edition of The 700 Club. There seems to be great rejoicing around the country over the killing of Osama bin Laden. But as I said yesterday and I say it again today, temper your enthusiasm. There's a lot more to do in this war on terror, and that is a fragmented organization with cells all over the world. And Zawahiri is his second in command, even more vicious than Osama bin Laden. And he's still at loose, as are many, many others. Well, you ask yourself, and I'm sure people are doing it now, how did Osama bin Laden hide for so many years in Pakistan without being discovered? That's just one of the questions people are asking after the death of that terrorist.
The United States will be able to answer many questions about al Qaeda now. Navy Seals recovered a stockpile of evidence at bin Laden's million dollar compound that may expose more cracks in the terrorist network. Here is John Jessup.
The year's long hunt for the ever elusive Osama bin Laden ended here in this fortified compound near a military academy outside the capital of Pakistan. Now, more mysteries may be solved based on a treasure trove of documents, DVDs, and computer hard drives found at the scene. Intelligence officials are pouring over the information in hopes that it could lead them to al Qaeda's number two and likely bin Laden's successor, Ayman al-Zawahiri. At a bipartisan congressional dinner in Washington Monday night, a sense of unity as the nation's leaders balanced a message of vigilance and victory.
Americans learned that the United States had carried out an operation that resulted in the capture and death of Osama bin Laden.
Others applied bin Laden's demise to the recent Arab uprisings.
The peaceful, youth-driven democratic revolutions now taking place in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, and Syria are the true repudiation of bin Ladenism. His extreme ideology is the weak horse and democracy is the strong horse after all.
But not everyone agrees, with many analysts warning about the potential rise of Islamic fundamentalism in the Middle East. Meanwhile, the success of the mission has also highlighted what critics call a failure on the part of a key partner in the region.
Pakistan remains a critical, but uncertain ally in the fight against terrorism. This tells us once again that, that unfortunately, Pakistan is at times playing a double game.
In the wake of growing criticism, the Pakistani government denies that it knew or provided sanctuary for Osama bin Laden. But Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill say Pakistan has a lot of explaining to do.
And if you're harboring terrorists, then you're our enemy, and I don't think it could be any clearer than that. They were harboring enemies who were orchestrating killing Americans. How is that our friend?
And then there is the question of proof. Skeptics want hard evidence that Osama bin Laden is indeed dead. And the administration is considering whether to release photos of the body before it was buried at sea. Now lawmakers on the right and left believe the administration will need to release those photos to prevent any conspiracy theories from taking root. John Jessup, CBN News, Capitol Hill.
We understand that Osama bin Laden was in Pakistan for about five years. Everybody thought that he was up in a cave in the mountains living in primitive conditions. Instead, he was living very comfortably in the middle of the capital or close to the capital of Pakistan and very near the west point of Pakistan. And you ask yourself how is it possible that a compound of that magnitude with a strange occupant was not known to the secret service of Pakistan. The answer is of course it was.
My children and I, when they were young, played a little game called Obvious. We used one of those little medicine, those little kind of opaque—and everybody would leave the room. And one person would hide it. And it had to be in a visible place. And it would take forever to find that thing. So sometimes hiding something in an obvious place is a great way to go. Obviously this worked.
Well, there is a book out that one of our favorite writers, the author of The Hunt for Red October, had to say. He's got Osama bin Laden living in Las Vegas in a very comfortable environment.
Better get those pictures out, right.
That's right. Well, Lee Webb has the rest of our top stories from the CBN Newsroom. Lee.
Pat, US leaders and our allies are praising the operation that killed Osama bin Laden, but there are also renewed security concerns. The FBI and Homeland Security Department are warning that bin Laden's death may inspire homegrown terrorist attacks in the near future. Heather Sells has that story.
US security agencies are on high alert this week. They're fearing possible revenge attacks by al-Qaeda affiliated groups.
There's every reason to believe there will be further attacks attempted against the United States. And for us to spend so much time patting ourselves on the back because we got bin Laden that we miss the next attack would be a terrible tragedy.
The intelligence community has differing views about just when that next attack might come. Some believe bin Laden's death may speed up plans already in the works. Others believe it could take years.
I think we can expect it, but I think we have to be patient. I don't think we'll see an attack immediately. It can be months. It can be years before the attack occurs. But there will be efforts to avenge the death of Osama bin Laden.
But even as leaders have urged caution, bin Laden's death has brought a sense of relief for many across the country, even at this Muslim center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The Islamic men here say bin Laden was not one of them.
This is a good, good day for all of the Muslim nations, especially America as well. So I think it's a very, very happy moment for us because we keep getting closer and closer to omitting this al Qaeda, getting rid of the whole terrorism.
Muslim groups in Washington, DC also expressed relief that bin Laden is gone. But in Gaza, the prime minister of the Hamas-led government said the killing was unjustified and called bin Laden a Muslim warrior. Back in New York, the man at the center of the storm on 9/11, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, was quick to praise the president.
I think the president made exactly the right decision.
On Thursday, the president travels to New York and the World Trade Center site to mark the death of America's most wanted man. Heather Sells, CBN News.
All further evidence, Pat, that like the Cold War, the war against terror is going to be a long one.
Well, Lee, it certainly is. And again, I'm saying it over and over again. I sound like a broken record. But don't make too much of the fact that one guy got killed, because let's face it. He didn't have any electronic contact with the network around the world. They communicated to him through couriers, and so that's very inefficient, which meant the cells out in the countryside and throughout the world were operating on their own. And you hear these Muslims coming up and saying, "Oh, it's so nice now that he's dead." You didn't hear one so-called moderate Muslim in those days condemning the activity of al Qaeda. They didn't do it. Now that Osama is dead, then they say, "Oh, hey, isn't it nice that he's dead? We don't have to worry about that stain on our integrity any longer." Nonsense. Lee.
This Thursday, Pat, marks the 60th annual National Day of Prayer. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress and signed in by President Harry Truman. In 1988, President Ronald Reagan designated the first Thursday of May as the annual observance for the National Day of Prayer. As they do each year, Americans across the country will gather for local events to pray for the nation. This year's theme, "A Mighty Fortress is Our God," taken from Psalm 91, the same Psalm that inspired Martin Luther to write the great hymn by the same name. And for more on that story, let's go back to Pat.
Well, joining us now is the chair of the National Day of Prayer. She's been in that post for a number of years serving very capably, Shirley Dobson. Shirley, it's nice to have you with us again. Tell us about your theme.
Hi, Pat. Well, I think we have a very fitting theme this year. There is so much uncertainty and insecurity in our nation right now. And we just felt like A Mighty Fortress is Our God would be a perfect theme. He is our refuge. He is our protector and our defender. And so we're looking forward to a great day of prayer across the nation. There will be prayer in businesses, military bases, schools, homes. Moms are going to be taking their kids to the park, and they call it pray and play. As they're playing in the sandbox and swinging in the swings, the moms will be praying. There just will be prayer gatherings all over. And I want to encourage our viewers to go to our website, NationalDayofPrayer.org, to find out if there's an event in your community. And if not, then we hope you'll plan something, even prayer around the dinner table at night. Our country is suffering in many ways, and we definitely need prayer.
Are there certain key points you want to focus people's prayer on?
Well, Pat, as you know, we've had some terrible natural disasters in our country, people that have lost their homes from the tornadoes and flooding. Many people are out of work right now.
Some homes have been foreclosed on. There are so many things to be praying about. And, of course, we still are in wars in the Middle East. So there are many things to lift up to God in prayer.
Well, we certainly appreciate what you're doing. I'm going to change the subject just one minute. Your husband is so beloved by so many people. Has he stepped down from Focus on the Family? Is that the word?
Pat, he has stepped down as president of Focus on the Family, but we have a new ministry. We don't want to have all these departments, a huge ministry like Focus on the Family, but he still wants to have a voice of righteousness in the culture, just like you. And so he has a radio broadcast called Family Talk. And our son is co-hosting that with him, and they're having a great time.
Well, good for him and good for you. Well, thanks so much. And we'll encourage people to join in prayer on the Day of Prayer. And all across the nation, wherever you are, pray for our nation. Pray for the trouble we're in. And pray for the victims of natural disasters. There are so many things to ask God about. Well, Shirley Dobson. Well, up next, a church determined to reach the rich.
Part of our vision is to reach a higher class of people, because they need God, too. And there are not many churches that they can actually feel comfortable in.
Well, we tell you where this church is located and take you inside its walls. Also ahead, Bring It Online. If you have a question for me, just log on to CBN.com. Our chat room is open right now.

Well, despite the Orthodox church, evangelical Christianity is alive and well in Russia. At the heart of this trend is one of the largest and fastest growing evangelical congregations. George Thomas brings us the story of the Good News Church from Moscow.
In a land where the Russian Orthodox Church dominates, one evangelical charismatic church is creating spiritual waves.
The Protestant movement is growing very strongly.
Americans Rick and Denise Renner are at the forefront of the movement. In 1991, the couple moved their family to what is now the former Soviet Union with the goal of reaching Russians with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Nine years later, in September 2000, they started Moscow Good News Church in the Russian capital city.
Moscow Church is approximately 3,500 people in regular attendance.
And that's big for Russia, where most Protestant churches attract less than 1,000 people to each of their congregations. And while the goal is to reach a broad section of those living in the Moscow metropolis, the church puts a special emphasis on reaching the upper class.
Specifically, a part of our vision is to reach a higher class of people.
Why?
Well, because they need God, too, and there aren't many churches that they can actually feel comfortable in.
Most Russians belong to the Orthodox Church. There are some 30,000 churches dotting the Russian landscape. The church is gaining more prominence after decades of persecution under the Soviet system. Yet, this newfound role isn't necessarily translating into regular attendance or observance.
Most people don't even know the tenets of the faith. They don't have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Nowadays, it is hip to be religious in Russia.
But Renner says something different happens at Moscow Good News. Those from an Orthodox background find the evangelical church community a whole new experience.
Some of them are shocked. Some of them think, "Wow, I've only seen this in movies."
Along with the preaching of the Gospel, worship and the style of music played in church is a big draw, too.
I say, "Hey, come to church. We have music in church and it is fun." "Like what, Gospel music?"
In addition to the main service, Moscow Good News has an active children's ministry that puts on regular drama performances about the life of Christ.
They also have an entire church dedicated just to reaching the elderly. (Moscow, Russia): And despite the tremendous success of Moscow Good News Church, it faces a huge public perception problem. You see, today in Russia, charismatic churches are often considered cults. So the government puts laws on the books to restrict religious freedom. And because the Russian Orthodox Church views the evangelical churches as competitors, they often side with the government trying to limit evangelical church growth.
The official position of the Russian Orthodox Church is that everything besides them is a cult.
But a new generation of young Russians are emerging with different views on the matter.
I know the Orthodox Church doesn't have a good opinion of the Protestant churches, but that has to change.
I have evangelical Christians who are friends of mine. I enjoy talking with them and appreciate things they share with me.
It is that sentiment that Renner and members of Moscow Good News Church hope lead to more Russians embracing the message of Jesus Christ.
Capitalism has come. Many people are successful. Many people have made money. Many people have lost a lot of money, and they know and they've found out for themselves that it is not the answer to all of their problems. And so there's a new wave of interest in spiritual things.
George Thomas, CBN News, reporting from Moscow.
Thanks, George. The Russians are very spiritually minded people. They love God. They have tremendous religious tradition. And they just need the anointing of Jesus. We hope there will be more of that. So our hats off to the Good News Church in Moscow. Terry.

Well, skirts are getting shorter, tops are getting tighter, and the girls wearing them are getting younger and younger. Take a look.
Clothing for young girls isn't leaving much to the imagination. And retailers are marketing padded bikini tops and sexy underwear to seven to 10-year-olds. In an age where modesty seems to be forgotten, many parents are struggling to keep their little girls from growing up too fast. Rachel Lee Carter has been a professional model for 25 years. In Fashioned by Faith, Rachel suggests how your kids can wear the latest trends without looking seductive.
Please welcome to The 700 Club Rachel Lee Carter. It's good to have you here.
It's great to be here. Thank you, Terry.
You've written this book, Fashioned by Faith. You've come out of the whole fashion industry, which is an amazing industry. There are plenty of shows that have been on TV recently sort of letting us look into that whole picture. You say that when you invited Jesus into your life, you invited Him into your closet. What do you mean by that?
Well, I was saved in the industry. I was living in New York City. I was 19 years old. And I was on a job with some girls. And I had grown up in church. I knew the plan of salvation. And I had even prayed a prayer at one time when I was younger. But based on my actions and the direction that my life was going; there was no evidence of Christ in my life.
So what happened at 19 that made you decide you wanted to make this commitment?
Well, I met these girls on a job, and they began sharing Christ with me. And it became real to me. So I got real honest with the Lord. And in my apartment in New York I just got on my face on the floor, and I asked Christ to come into my heart, and things changed.
I'm sure they did, because I have a daughter that's been interested in modeling. I've done everything in the world to discourage her from doing it.
I don't blame you.
Because I think it's an industry that calls you to compromise in so many ways. Tell me about how that happened for you and how being a Christian made a difference for you.
Well, I certainly was faced with options of compromising. And I didn't want to go there because of my faith. And it was a struggle at times, because I was faced with situations where I had to walk off of a set or walk out on situations that were very uncomfortable for me, for my agent. But Christ reigned supreme in me, and I had to make a decision that would reflect Him, not just my agency or my career.
Did you worry about it? I was reading about all of those instances in your life. And I just think as young girls, it's so hard when you've got a manager who is getting made off of your salary. You've got an agent who is getting paid off of your salary. You're living off of your salary. When you walk, you lose the job.
Oh, yes. And lots of things can come from that. You could lose the campaign. You could lose credibility, your reputation. Your agency could drop you. Lots of things, and some of those things did happen.
Yes. And so what went through your mind? Especially I'm thinking of the time they brought a blouse in to you that you said, "Where is the part that goes underneath this?" And you had a lot of pressure put on you by people to put that on without anything underneath it and to walk out there and be photographed. Tell me what went through your mind before you decided to say goodbye.
Well, the devil certainly was whispering in my ear. It was in Greece. Nobody is going to see it. Nobody that knows you will never see this. But I just couldn't do it, so I came out with something on underneath the blouse that was see through, and she said, "No, no, no. We want you to wear it with nothing underneath." And I said, "Well, you can see me underneath." And she said, "Well, no, that's okay." So I went back and took the blouse off and came out. And she said, "Why aren't you wearing it?" And I said, "You wear it." And I handed it to her. And they said, "Just let her put on something underneath."
Another issue for young women who are in the fashion industry is weight. Everybody knows it. It's talked about, that whole anorexic look. How did you move through that whole maze?
Well, I'm a woman. So I'm going to put on weight. And just because I didn't go to college when I was 18, I still put on that freshman 15 when I was living in New York at 18.
They just call it that. It has nothing to do with college.
It happened. And when it happened, it devastated me. But I really had to learn to find my identity in Christ during that time, because there was a lot of pressure on me in trying to get skinnier and skinnier and skinnier. And I was with an agency that basically put it to me that by any means necessary. So unfortunately I turned to bulimia. Fortunately that didn't work, and I ended up on my face and asked God to please help me and forgive me. And He rescued me from it.
Incredible pressure. The industry that manufactures clothes is also very involved in all of this. We're talking about push up bras being manufactured for seven-year-old girls. What is that about?
It's sickening. And it's early sexualization of girls. And it starts with things like that, but some of those things might seem very, like, "I can't believe they would do that," but mothers begin to start accepting other things that 10 years ago would have been, gasp, "I can't believe they're doing that." But now it's in our faces so much that we just kind of start saying, "Well, that's just the trend." It doesn't have to be the trend. You can still protect your daughters.
How can girls express themselves fashionably without being exposed when there is so much out there that's made to expose?
Well, I love clothes. And I always call myself the proverbial clothes horse. So I think that you can love fashion and still be able to be modest and trendy. And one of the ways you can do that is accessorizing. From hat to shoes and belts, it's limitless what you can do to accessorize. The second things is layering. Layering is so in, but by doing that you can cover yourself and still be cute.
We have invited four middle school young women to join us today. And you've helped put together some things for them. Let's take a look at who is with us and what they're going to be wearing.
Okay. Well, first up is Skye. And Skye is showing off a sophisticated shorts set. What's great about these shorts is that they're tapered to her legs, but they're not too tight. And they're also fingertip length. The great thing about fingertip length is that it keeps her covered while she's sitting, while she's standing, sitting Indian style, whatever. This outfit can be dressed up as she's wearing it now or dressed down for a more casual look.
And when shorts are longer like that, women are almost wearing those, and young girls, as we would have worn slacks or some kind of longer pants.
Yes. So it can be very sophisticated. And also, any time you wear something that's tapered, not too tight, but it's tapered to your leg, it also makes you look thinner, which all women love.
You look great, Skye.
Thank you. All right. Next up is Morgan. And Morgan is showing us a more casual short, but the way she accessorizes them makes them a little Bohemian. They're also fingertip length. The scarf and candy colors keep it fresh and modern, while still being modest. And she's also layering tank tops. That adds a pop of color, but it's also adding coverage. I'd like to add that these styles are being shown on younger teens, but modesty, of course, as we know, spans the generations.
And I love the color with the scarf. Scarves are so big right now, aren't they?
They are. And you don't have wear a scarf just in the winter. You can wear them even in the summer if it's a gauzy fabric. All right, next is Savannah. Savannah is giving us a lesson on the true skinny jean. Skinny jeans should be tapered to the leg, but not that painted on look. She should be able to pinch them. They're not to be confused with denim leggings, or jeggings as they call them. These on Savannah are pretty. They're modern, skinny, and still fashionable. And simple accessories put it over the top. You look beautiful, Savannah. Thank you. And lastly, we have Dani. Dani is wearing a cute spring dress perfect for church, a wedding, or any dressed up occasion. Since the top of the dress is thin spaghetti straps, she stays cute and covered by wearing a matching shrug. But she keeps it summery and fun with black jeweled flip flops. Very nice, Dani. Thank you. And further information about modeling modesty or the book or the ministry Modeling Christ, you can go to the website, which is www.modelingChrist.com.
That is awesome. Ladies, thank you so much. They all looked great.
They did. They looked cute, very cute.
They really did. You talk a lot in your book also about the whole showing of bra straps and you've got answers for those things. I think sometimes young girls wear what they wear because they don't realize there are options to them. And one person who is cool does it so everybody follows it, when in fact there is a better way to do things. And when you wrote this book, what did you want young girls, women, who read it to come away with?
Well, I think that a lot of girls approach modesty with an unsure way. When you say modesty, you don't know what comes to mind, because it's such a vague word. Does that mean a burqa? What does that mean?
Well, it means different things to different people.
Yes. Or a petticoat. They don't know what it means. So I wanted to be able to show that you can be fashionable and trendy with your styles and be able to express your individuality while still be covered and maintaining your integrity.
Rachel, what would you say is the biggest mistake that women make in how they dress?
I think they don't consider other people, because when we dress, a lot of times I think we dress for what's in the mirror, that we like it and so we wear it. And so be it.
And what's right for you might not be right for me.
Right.
So also there has to be somewhere in there knowing who you are and understanding what's best for you.
Yes.
Well, it's all in here. It's called Fashioned by Faith, and it's available wherever books are sold. We thank you for being with us and for helping us as moms set standards for our young girls. George Layton was a tough guy and a career criminal. Two prison sentences didn't break George. But when a young women stepped into the path of his 18-wheeler, the tough guy crumbled. Watch this.
George Layton had a rap sheet a mile long: grand theft auto, receiving stolen property, forgery, robbery, and murder.
I was a co-conspirator and spent 364 days going to trial for special circumstance first degree murder, which is a mandatory death penalty.
George's problems started years earlier. At 16, he moved out and struggled to make it on his own. When his dreams to have a ranch fell through, he began to steal. Cattle rustling in California and robbery were his first crimes.
After being arrested for the cattle, I had a piece of heavy equipment that I needed to get rid of because it wasn't mine, and I got arrested for that, too. They gave me three years for grand theft.
George was released on parole when he was 23.
The wonderful thing about parole is they put you right straight back where all the hell broke loose and where everything was going on, right where all your old friends are. The biggest thing to do when somebody gets out of prison is throw them a bag of dope and a bottle and the party is on. And everything starts up again from there.
A few years later, two of George's friends had a plan for a robbery. They asked George to help them.
I explained to them how to do this thing properly. And they went off to do that drunk. And one of them accidentally pulled the trigger and shot the guy in the head and killed him.
George went to prison again, this time for conspiracy to commit residential robbery with a firearm. George went to trial, and was facing the death penalty. He eventually accepted a deal, and got eight years. The man who pulled the trigger got 25 years to life. George earned good time credits in prison, and was released after four and a half years.
When I got out, I was doing okay, going to church. Then I fell back into the old addiction of methamphetamine and drinking. And I got married to a woman that her hobby was drinking and methamphetamine also. But that was the most miserable time of my life, because God kept calling and calling. And I couldn't do enough drugs and I couldn't do enough alcohol to make it stop. And I was quite sure that God wanted nothing to do with me by that time in my life. And any time that I might hear or feel the tug of the spirit, I was sure that that was just my imagination, because there was no way that God would want something to do with me after all I had done.
George's wife left him for another man. That same day, he was driving his 18-wheeler home from work.
I went around a turn and I saw a girl standing on the side of the road and she was wanting to cross in front of me, and then she thought better of it and waited. And then as my front half of my 18-wheeler got past her, she apparently did not realize that I had a trailer or misjudged the timing. And I watched her run into the back axel of my trailer. And go into the back tires of my trailer. And yes, I couldn't believe what I was seeing, absolutely could not believe it.
The young woman died. It was ruled an accident, and no charges were filed against George. He went home that day to an empty house. And he had nightmares about the accident every night.
It was right about two o'clock in the morning and I woke up after having a nightmare about the whole thing again, and I'd had enough. I just sat up and for the first time in this whole ordeal, I prayed. It wasn't elaborate or anything special. I just said, "Jesus, fix me. Just fix me."
The next Sunday, George went to church.
The whole ordeal came out of me like somebody had dropped a bomb on a dam. It all just came out. And I don't know if you've ever worn a backpack in your life before, but I felt it come off. The guilt, it was gone. It was then that I found that not only the guilt that I had been carrying, but the addiction to the methamphetamine, the co-dependency, the Jack Daniels, it was all gone. And things have not been the same since. All I can say about this is looking back over everything that had happened in my life, and in running from God and thinking that He wouldn't forgive somebody that had done the things that I had, how stupid I was.
Then George met Debra and they married.
She started going to church with me, and it wasn't long after that that she invited Jesus to be her Savior also. Then I got to participate in baptizing her. And I'm just telling you, life is so much different now than it used to be.
George says his lengthy rap sheet is now a clean slate because of the forgiveness of God.
And a life like mine and the things that I had done, gave it to Jesus. There's forgiveness, there's a new life, there's everything in trusting God. Just take that one step. That's all it takes.
God will forgive anything. Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white like snow. You ask yourself, what have you done? George had been a co-conspirator in murder. He'd robbed, stolen, been in prison, done things that were terrible. But God Almighty reached out in love. You see, what God is looking for is somebody who will serve Him. He's not interested in punishing you. He doesn't get any pleasure from punishing you. And at the end of your life if you don't turn, you're going to get punished forever. So He's not in any hurry to punish you. But what He does want is to put somebody in Heaven who loves Him. And He wants to fill up Heaven. There is plenty of room in Heaven. And the yearning heart of God is to fill up Heaven. So He will reach out His hands to you and forgive you. Don't ever say, "I've done things that God won't forgive me." Yes, He will, because He wants to forgive you. He wants you in Heaven. He wants you to be there with Him forever praising Him and rejoicing with the angels. He wants all eternity to be filled with joyous praise of the redeemed, of people who have been set free. What's your problem? You've got a rap sheet? So did George. You've done crimes? So did George. You're on drugs? So was George. Go down the line. God forgave him, and God will forgive you. Is it pornography? Is it alcohol? Is it infidelity? Is it hatred and anger? Is it stealing? What is it? Is it lack of love? Right now, I want you to ask Him, and let me tell you, He will accept you, because He loves you. He's standing by right now, and His arms are extended to you. He wants to put His arms around you and love you. Bow your head and pray these words. Pray with me. "Jesus, you know me, and I ask, Lord, that you would forgive me. I want to be with you in Heaven. I want to be with the family of the redeemed. I want to be with those who will be worshipping God for all eternity. God, I turn away from sin, and I believe that Jesus Christ is your Son. I believe that He is the Son of God. I believe that He came to earth to die for my sins. And I take Him now as my Savior. God Almighty, forgive me, cleanse me, and make me whole. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord, that you have heard my prayer. Thank you, Lord, that you have come into my heart." Now, for those who prayed with me, I want to pray for you. Father, let the power of the Holy Spirit touch them, in Jesus' name, now.
Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. Give Him praise. And for those who prayed with me, I want to get you started, because there will be things coming your way. You wonder what to do next. And I've done a compact disc. It's 73 minutes. And it will tell you how you can live the Christian life. And it will tell you all the things that are necessary. And if you commit sin, what you can do about it.
But just remember, God loves you, and He wants you in Heaven. He wants you more than you want him. So go to your telephones and call in and say, "I just prayed with Pat. I gave my heart to the Lord. Please send me ‘A New Day.'" We'll give it to you free. And no financial obligation, nothing. Just call in. And say, "I prayed." If you don't want to give us your name, that's fine, too. But you call anyhow. You need to confess what you've done: 1-800-759-0700. Okay. Terry.
Coming up, your questions from our chat room. Gina says, "I feel like I married the wrong one. Is it wrong to stay married for the kids' sake?" We're going to Bring It Online with Gina's question and more, after this.
If I could build this big, strong body, this armor around myself, then nobody could hurt me again. I felt like if my mother didn't love me, my biological father didn't love me, then how in the world could anybody else love me? God loves us, and He wants the best for us. I'm living proof of that. Just give Him a chance.

When Monica's husband deserted her, she struggled to take care of her children. In fact, until recently, this single mother could barely keep a roof over their heads.
Something as basic as a front door would make Monica Vasquez's life a little better.
Recently, some people got into the house to steal things. And as you can see, we don't have a door.
The fabric walls don't provide any protection from robbers, either. When it rains, water leaks in everywhere. The house stays damp for days, then the kids get sick.
In fact, my oldest son has sinus problems because of the dampness. And the other one is having asthma problems.
As a single mother, sometimes it's very hard for her to hold it all together.
When their father left us for another woman, he left us alone, by ourselves.
So when Operation Blessing showed up with construction volunteers, they went to work on Monica's humble home. They tore it all down, jack-hammered it up, and hauled it away. Monica's boys did some of the work, too. In a matter of days, Monica's family went from living in that old open leaky shack to this colorful cottage. Now, Monica has a beautiful little home of her own. There is a warm bedroom loft for the children. It has a living room and a tiled bathroom. In the kitchen, there is running water and a stove. They enjoy meals together at the family table.
I realize today that God does exist, and He is very big. A thousand thank-you's to Operation Blessing.
Can you believe that? To have what she had before, so little, in such terrible condition, and to have a home like that is a dream come true for this woman.
And what a testimony to her and to her children and to their entire community to see God intervene in her life. And He intervened through you. Q and A. Bring It On.
This is Gina. She says, "I feel like I married the wrong one. I only did it because I was pregnant and scared. That was 12 years ago. I have been miserable ever since. We have tried counseling, but we can't resolve our issues. Is it wrong to stay married for the kids' sake?"
When I was growing up, we used to have a lot of country music down at Steve's Diner in the jukebox. And one of those classics was, "Seven years with the wrong woman is longer than anyone thinks."
Yes, the poetic . . . .
Yes, seven years. And she's talking about 12 years with the wrong man. Is it wrong? Hey, you got married, honey. That's the way it is. You made a decision. You made a decision to have sex and get pregnant, and then you decided you wanted to do something for the child. And is it wrong to stay married for the children? No. You've just go to do it.
But if you're going to do that, you need to do it with the right heart attitude. If you're going to stay together for the kids, do it so that you're creating a wonderful home for them.
I dig all that. But you're asking about what the Bible has to say, and the Bible does not say that one of the causes is because it was the wrong man. "I don't love him." You've been together now for 12 years. You've had maybe more than one child. And you need to make the best. But you're right. Make a good home. Do what you can. But I just don't think irreconcilable differences are the answer. If there is physical or something like that. I know it sounds hard, but you made the deal. You made the decision.
Yes, those are vows we take. You honor them.
Yes. Yes. Okay, what's next?
This is Joanna, who says, "My daughter dresses inappropriately. I keep telling her to stop, but she says that is what is in style these days. What can I do?"
Well, you can get the book that Terry was talking about earlier.
That's right.
What was the name of that book?
It's Fashioned by Faith. And here's one of the great things that your young daughter will appreciate about that book. At the beginning of each chapter, there is a handsome young man who tells what he thinks about girls who dress inappropriately.
And it's not everybody. It's never everybody. It might be your daughter's friends. But it's never everybody. But Fashioned by Faith, Rachel Lee Carter. I think your daughter will enjoy it. And that's just out today, so hot off the press.
Okay. Well, it's available where books are sold. What's next?
This is Jim, who says, "How do you think the news of Osama's death will affect the economy and oil prices?"
I don't think it will make any difference. Osama bin Laden was kind of out of the action anyhow. He was in an enclave in Pakistan, and he really wasn't in electronic touch with his people. So he was a figurehead. So it shouldn't affect anything. What will affect it however is if a bunch of radical Muslims decide that they're going to take revenge and they will take revenge on Saudi Arabia by blowing up some oil depots. If they will start killing people and doing things like that, that's different. But right now, just the fact that he's dead doesn't matter. All right. What else?
Here is Sue, who says, "Hi, Pat. I love your show. My question is, did our souls exist before we born? In the Bible, it says God knew us before we were born."
That's a great question. It says in Jeremiah, "Before you were born, I knew you, and I ordained you to be a prophet to the nations." In the mind of God, you existed from all eternity. But I do believe life begins at conception. So when you are conceived, that's when your life begins. But in God's mind, you existed from—because that's what He said, "Before you were born, I knew you, and I ordained you." So He had a plan for Jeremiah before he was even conceived. All right.
Here's a question from one our viewers, "If our lives are predestined, how does prayer change things?"
Well, this is the great struggle between predestination and free will. God's foreknowledge and our free will. But we do have free will. We can make decisions. And our decisions will affect what happens in our lives. So I don't think that we are predestined to fail. We aren't predestined to go out and kill somebody. We aren't predestined to go to prison. We aren't predestined to make a billion dollars. It depends on what we do with what's given us over a lifetime. But there is a tension. We always need to keep that tension between our free will, which is always there, and God's providence and His foreknowledge and His predestination. They're always there. And if you keep them in tension, you'll get the truth. If you go too far to one side or the other, you get unbalanced. All right. What else?
This is Nancy, who says, "The last week, I've had several dreams that I'm going to die. What do you think this means?"
I think it means that you're being beset upon by spiritual powers, and you need to rebuke that and bind it in the name of Jesus. I don't think those dreams came from God. I don't think God is going to give you dreams you're going to die. I think that kind of stuff is from the occult, and I think you need to bind it in Jesus' name. What else?
Okay, this is Ashley, who says, "I recently invited the Holy Spirit to live in me. I have a friend who says if I haven't spoken in tongues yet, then I don't have the Holy Spirit living in me. Is this true?"
When you accept Jesus as your Savior, you have the Holy Spirit living in you. But when you are baptized in the Holy Spirit, the anointing of His Spirit comes upon you for power, so that you can be exhibiting Him in power with healing and miracles and faith and all these things. When that happened in the Bible, the evidence of it seemed to be that the people began to give praise to God in another language. But does that mean the Holy Spirit doesn't live in you? No, it doesn't. The Holy Spirit lives in you if you accept Jesus. But you may not have experienced the full power that God has for you, and that power is very important. Jesus said, "Stay in Jerusalem until you're endued with power from on high." And that is when the baptism came in their lives. Well, thanks for those questions. We love you, appreciate you. Tomorrow, a side of former Rick Santorum you may not have seen anywhere else. And today, we leave you with these words from I Timothy, "Do not let anyone look down on you because you're young, but set an example for the believers in speech and conduct and love and faith and in purity."
