But you have to get out on the field. You can't sit on the sidelines. He's got the passion, but can he get the votes? Rick Santorum on his uphill climb to the White House and through life. Well, welcome to The 700 Club. The team sent to kill Osama bin Laden is an elite group of men who trained thousands of hours for this mission. They're called Navy Seal Team Six. They're based here in Virginia Beach. They are, Pat, and did you know that their identities are actually kept secret? But they are actually men who are sent in with a mission which seems impossible. Here is Mark Martin with a look at what makes these Seals so elite. Their operations are highly classified, their names and missions rarely known to the public. Seal Team Six is best of the best, hand picked. This covert group of warriors is called the "tip of the spear." That's why these Seals were tasked with finding the world's most wanted man. Breaching the Pakistan compound under the cover of darkness, 40 men, 40 minutes of fighting. They emerged with bin Laden's body, all without any American casualties. Seal Team Six's classified training happens at this base behind me in Virginia Beach. Seal stands for "sea, air, and land," which means that they dominate all combat operations. The training is intense both physically and mentally. It is difficult. It's the toughest military training in the world. Retired Navy Seal Senior Chief Don Shipley knows firsthand the focus and skill it takes to be special forces. He's done combat missions all over the world. They're looking for the guy that stays calm, that doesn't panic, isn't frustrated easily, can keep his mind in the game, stay focused. That just rolls on. The training just continues to progress. It never gets easier. It only gets harder. The rigorous Seal training gives these warriors what most of us would consider super powers. Some can hold their breath underwater for two minutes, without making so much as a bubble. These guys are thoroughbreds. They are these sleek, black stallions on top of the hill looking down at the herd. They are genetically built to withstand punishment, the pain, ignore things, control emotion, control fear, panic, all that. They are the best this country has. Weeks of planning and preparation went into the raid that killed bin Laden, every possible situation and surprise taken into account. That's why when one of the helicopters malfunctioned outside bin Laden's compound; these Seals did not miss a beat. And that was certainly one of the "what ifs," and while that might have disrupted a lot of guys, they had planned for it. They just rolled on to plan B. The primary objective is in that building somewhere. And we're talking the Alamo here. We are talking about the Seal version of raising the flag on Mount Suribachi, the capture of John Wilkes Booth. Your grandkids are going to be reading about this in the history book and the guys who did it. Mark Martin, CBN News. Well, it's an elite group. We were privileged to have several of the members of Seal Team Six working here at CBN as security when they got out of the Navy. They were fabulous. And I went to the shooting range with a couple of them, and they could take an automatic pistol and shoot a whole clip off, and the target pattern would be about what you'd cover with a silver dollar. It was unbelievable. Another of them would run 52 miles, not just 26. He'd go around 52 miles. And we had one of them, 49 years old, who worked with us several years, a dear friend. He was third in the . . . . Oh, the triathlon. . . . . double triathlon. He bicycled 200 miles. He ran 52 miles. He did it all. He was out on the course for just about 23 hours. When he called me, he was panting, and he had just finished. The guy was 49 years old. He was third in the nation. Amazing. They're machines. Oh, boy. Well, I'm proud of them. Machines. And they did a great job, and we congratulate Seal Team Six. But I hope and pray they keep their identities very, very secret. Exactly. Well, Lee Webb has the rest of our top stories from the CBN Newsroom. Lee. Pat, still no decision on whether to release photos of bin Laden's body from the White House. The administration says it is concerned about the sensitivities of releasing the gruesome pictures. Some high ranking officials, including CIA director Leon Panetta, believe a photo will be released eventually, but others say the US does not want to publish photos that could create more problems in the Muslim world. Well, now that bin Laden is gone, who will take his place as al Qaeda's leader? Some say it could be the American-born terrorist, Anwar al Awlaki. He heads an al Qaeda cell on the Arabian Peninsula in Yemen. He has been tied to several terror plots against the US, including the one at Fort Hood, the Fort Hood massacre, as it's called, carried out by Nidal Hassan, and the Nigerian man who tried to blow up a US airliner on Christmas Day a couple of years ago. And reportedly, he inspired the man who tried to set off a bomb in Times Square. CBN News Terrorism Analyst Erick Stakelbeck told Pat that al Awlaki's Western background makes him quite effective. I would argue he's the most influential jihadist in the world. And the key for him, pat, he is fluent in English. He knows the American culture. He was born here in New Mexico, raised here, went to school at Colorado State University. He knows the West, knows the language, knows the culture. That language barrier can't be overestimated, Pat. Osama bin Laden, Ayman Al Zawahiri, other al Qaeda kingpins don't speak English. But you have a guy like al Awlaki who is fluent in our language, can connect directly to young Muslims right in this country and in Europe. And that makes him very, very dangerous. Yemen's president has been working with the US to root out al Awlaki's network. But recent protests in Yemen have threatened, Pat, the government's stability. But I wanted to go back to whether or not to release this photo. I heard one former national security advisor, Pat; say that the photo ought to be released simply as a message to whoever takes Osama bin Laden's place. Well, it's gruesome. They say they blew off a portion of his face. As someone said, it wasn't really a military operation; it was an execution, because he was not armed. And they shot him, just blew him away, which is fine, because he was a terrible terrorist. But it was an execution. And whether we want to show that, it just inflames passions. I would opt for keeping the photograph secret. But nevertheless, I want to make a plug in for Erick Stakelbeck's book, The Terrorist Next Door. It is an incredible book. It's filled with information that leaves you kind of a downer, because boy, oh, boy, the stuff that's going on and how the government of the United States is courting these radical Muslims just makes you sick at your stomach. But it's highly documented. And Erick is a tremendous reporter. You were talking about the Osama bin Laden, the picture. Well, it's circulating all throughout the Internet. I actually saw a picture. Did you see it? I saw one, but here's the key. Is it real? Is it fake? You never know, but the one that I saw that was on Facebook looked very real to me. But I will say this. I don't know if it was real. I didn't like it. And I didn't want to see it. Well, I don't think people want to see it. It isn't something we would help ourselves with. Well, they're screwed up in Denmark. Let's talk about it. Lee. Yes. Just a point of clarification, that one that is circulating on the Internet is a fraud. It's widely believed to be a fraud. A court in Denmark has found a leading Islamic expert guilty of racism for his comments about Muslims. Dale Hurd has that story. Lars Hedegaard was charged with racism under Denmark's hate speech law after telling someone at a gathering about the problem of rape committed against Muslim girls by male relatives. Of course I made clear that I was not talking about every Muslim man in the country or in the world. By the way, I was not talking specifically about conditions in Denmark. Hedegaard said it's a fact that can be backed up by hard evidence. But in Denmark, that doesn't matter. (Copenhagen): Under Denmark's hate speech law, it doesn't matter if what you said was true. If you say something factual about Muslims and it offends someone, you could be charged. A guilty verdict depended on whether what Hedegaard said was intended for a wider audience. A lower court decided it was not, and acquitted him. Meanwhile, in a Dutch court on Monday, parliament member Geert Wilders denounced his hate speech trial as "unjust." He branded it a "political trial" and an attempt to suppress free speech. Wilders is on trial for inciting hatred against Muslims. He's compared Islam to fascism. Dale Hurd, CBN News. Hedegaard was fined the equivalent of less than 1,000 US dollars. He will appeal the verdict, Pat. The shocking thing is that we've got this enemy. It's like suppressing the truth about the Nazis during World War II. These people want to destroy Western civilization. These jihadists are out to kill people. And the fact that we as free people in Europe cannot speak out the truth is terrible. It's one thing to make a libel, to lie about somebody. But to tell the truth, truth should be an absolute defense in some kind of libel. But in Denmark, apparently the law is not that way. But they can't stack the laws in favor of the enemies and expect to keep their civilization. Lee. Pat, two key Palestinian groups have formalized a unity agreement. The deal is between the terrorist group Hamas and Fatah, which controls the official Palestinian government. The two groups have agreed to form a national unity government and hold elections within a year. Israel, the US, and Europe consider Hamas a terrorist group. Hamas has promised to destroy Israel, and Israeli officials say they will not negotiate with a future Palestinian government that includes a terrorist group. Two new studies link being overweight with deadly diseases. One study shows that extra weight around your belly can double your risk of heart disease. And researchers say that middle-aged people who are overweight, not necessarily obese, just overweight, have a 71 percent greater risk of developing dementia. Pat. I forgot what you just said. What have we got, Kristi? Oh, that was funny, Pat. Up next, inside the private grief of a political couple. I'll never forget what he said. He looked at us and said, "Your son has a fatal defect and is going to die." Just like that. Just like that. And we were obviously just crushed. Join us for the personal interview with possible presidential candidate Rick Santorum and his wife. That's up next. Still ahead . . . . I am a complete hot mess right here. "I'm sorry" meant nothing. Tomorrow on The 700 Club. Well, you're going to get sick of hearing about politics before it's over, but the first official Republican presidential primary debate takes place tomorrow in Greenville, South Carolina. South Carolina is a key primary state. And one of those on stage will be former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum. He's just announced that he's formed a presidential exploratory committee. And recently, David Brody spoke with Rick and his wife, Karen, about what's ahead for this couple. Rick Santorum says his life is all about passion, whether it deals with his large Catholic family, his politics, or his belief that this generation may leave the United States more vulnerable. We may leave America weaker. I believe that can be changed just like anything else, but you have to get out on the field. You can't sit on the sidelines. Santorum sure isn't sitting still. He has made some 40 visits to the early presidential primary states of Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. That's more than any other potential candidate. That paid off in South Carolina where he won a recent GOP straw poll. But national polls show him in the low single digits. Washington Post election writer Aaron Blake talked with me recently on the Brody File about Santorum's need to win early. He's been spending a ton of time in Iowa, a ton of time in New Hampshire. If he doesn't make a bang in one of those two states, he's not going to have the kind of organization that's going to get him through the following states. People say, "Why are you running?" Well, the only reason that I would run is because you feel like that's what you're being called to do. And Santorum says he wants to call is as he sees it when talking to voters. He tells crowds that the separation of church and state is not what the founding fathers intended. He blames much of that push on President John F. Kennedy when he tried to convince voters that his Catholic views wouldn't interfere with his presidential duties. Kennedy ushered in an era where faith was eventually forced out of the public square, that it was okay to bring any ideas unless they were motivated by faith. It was the starting gun of this movement. The starting gun to Rick Santorum's national political career came pretty early. A member of the House at 30 and the Senate by 34, he was a rising star. But he lost his Senate seat in 2006. Yet that devastating political loss cannot compare to the loss suffered by him and his wife, Karen, 15 years ago. I'll never forget what he said. He looked at us and said, "Your son has a fatal defect and is going to die." Just like that. Just like that. And we were obviously just crushed. Little Gabriel lived just two hours, but Karen saw God in the middle of it all. In the end, God wanted him back, but what I know with all my heart and soul is that every baby has a purpose, a God-given purpose, and every life has value. The Santorum's wanted their children to understand that value, so they brought Gabriel home from the hospital after he had passed. We wanted them to know that there was a baby and that his life was precious and that baby in the womb was real. It doesn't just come out and all of a sudden there's a baby. But that they had a little brother and that they would remember him. Karen kept a diary of their experience and put it in a book called Letters to Gabriel. It has helped parents to choose life. It's helped them to give their children a chance. It's helped to give them guidance and comfort. And I believe with all my heart that that was God's plan. Then almost 10 years later, in 2008, along came Bella. Simply put, she's a miracle baby. Born with a rare genetic disorder, she wasn't supposed to see her first birthday. She's now almost three. (Interviewing): She's beating the odds. Yes. What's going through your mind? God clearly has a plan for this child. She is so beautiful. She is a ray of sunshine in our lives. She has also had quite the impact on her passionate and fiery father. I know some people may find this hard to believe, but she has gentled my condition. She has him wrapped around her little pinky, let me tell you. She's my little sweetheart. While their love for Bella is unwavering, there still was, at times, anger directed at God. (Interviewing): Some people may be watching this and going, "Where is the shake-your-fist-at God moment?" It was after her birth, and I did very much have that, I must admit. I felt like He had thrown me in the back corner of the desert and forgot about me. I think we all go through desert periods where you think, "Where are you, Lord? Here I am and I need you, and I feel like you're not here." And it also felt like God, why did he to this to our little girl? Not just to us, but why did you do this to her? Right. Right. And then I think a lot of parents go through this where they are asking the whys and there is no why. And once I let that go and it was a complete abandonment to our Lord, once you do that, there is a peace. The Santorum's have found peace at home. But in politics, well, that's a different story. Karen Santorum definitely has some battle scars, but seems ready for another go-round. So for me it's not just another political race. It's about going on to the battlefield and defending God's truth in the world. Taking that stance has been like walking through a social issue minefield. Opponents have called Santorum a "hater" because he's outspoken about the sin of homosexuality. It has made him a long list of enemies. It's hard to do but you've got to do it. When I read all this stuff about how I hate people, you get the, "You're a hater. You hate this person." Rick hates no one. You hate this person because of this. You hate this person because of this. It's like, I just don't understand them. And it's funny that these people who say that, I'm praying for these people. Now if I hated you, why would I be praying for you? When Santorum does officially enter the race, it will be a tough road. But he said he's willing to make the journey to help America reclaim its greatness. America has the belief in every person being given rights by God, using those rights to serve Him and to serve our country, to serve their fellow man, because, in fact, we are our brother's keepers, that that system from the bottom up would produce greatness. David Brody, CBN News, reporting from Northern Virginia. Rick Santorum, a very attractive person. It shows the Republicans have got a deeper bench than everybody acknowledges. But it will be a tough road for him, but he's probably had tougher ones than this, so we'll see what happens. Kristi. Absolutely, Pat. On stage, she took the spotlight, but off stage, she actually hid behind closed doors. Everybody on the outside thought I was so successful. You do these deceitful things to hide those habits. Soon she developed a secret addiction that followed her into adulthood. But recently the actress and singer talked to Scott Ross about coming clean and getting free. Broadway actress Dorothy Savage is a self-described "failed perfectionist." Her debut Christian album, Glorious Mess, represents a transition from acting to recording. (Interviewing): I'm intrigued by the title. Yes. Glorious Mess. Anyone we know here? Yes. I am a complete hot mess right here. A hot mess. Okay. So that came from a series of conversations talking with my manager. And we started talking about it, and it was a really good fit. And I was like, "I'm a complete mess." But God takes it and makes it glorious. In my home my mother was a very godly woman. She taught me from a very young age to read my Bible and talked to me about Jesus. And so it was always a part of my life. I can't remember a time when it wasn't. Did that bring it into a personal encounter with God? Absolutely. Actually, I came to know the Lord when I was four years old. Four? Four. And it was absolutely real and genuine. But, that didn't produce a picture perfect childhood. Dorothy says her life got messy when she was 13 and her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Everything was in chaos around me. Inside, I was a complete disaster and breaking up, and it was very, very dark. The only thing Dorothy felt she could control was her eating. I began this pattern of kind of extreme exercising and all this. It kind of was small things throughout high school. What happened is when my family started to say, "What's going on? You're getting too thin." So I started to try to eat a little more because I was like, "Oh, I don't want to look too thin." By the time Dorothy was a music major in college, her mother was dying of breast cancer. Going to school full time and working, I worked 40 hours a week. And then any other time I was home with her. I don't even remember sleeping. And I also hated it because everybody on the outside thought I was so successful as a person. "You're handling your mother's illness. You're just so strong and going to college." The bingeing and the hiding food, and you lie. And you do these deceitful things to hide those habits. There's a part of you that you really hate. It's really the darkest moment of that. Her mother's battle with cancer eventually ended. She was at home in hospice care and I had the privilege of taking care of her until she passed. Dorothy's battle with bulimia continued, as the cycles of binging, purging, and abusing diet pills went on for years. There was always that part of me, and I know it was the Lord that was always like, "Kid, you'd better back up here." And I knew it was wrong. I knew that I had to find a way to work through this. Exciting things started happening in her life. After college she moved to New York and started her career as an actress and singer, performing in professional theater productions and a national touring company. But in the backdrop she continued to struggle with an eating disorder. Even though it took me a long time to stop behaviors, I knew the Lord, and I knew the truth. So how did you break out of the cycle? I went to several counselors. I came out, told everyone, was like, I told everyone I could find that I trusted, "Look, I'm struggling with this. I need help, help, help." No one gave you any hope that there was a way through this thing and get out of it? No. Then she turned to God, and cried out. This is going to leave my life. And I got into the Word. And I just started filling myself with it over and over, day and night. And it came to the point where I said, "Okay, I may go an hour without bingeing and purging, but if I can do that, that's great. That's an hour I've gone." And then I'd go six hours. And then I'd go a day. And then I'd go three days. And that's how it went. And then I'd mess up. But then I'd go back and before I'd know it, I'd gone three weeks. And I just began, the Lord just kept telling me, "Be patient with your healing. Be patient with the process." And as I began to be patient with that healing, I began to be kinder to myself. And the Lord just kept telling me how much He loved me through His Word. And the Word of God and His love just became the ultimate healing thing. But it was a process. Today, instead of playing out roles written by others, Dorothy uses music to share her own story of healing and faith. Hopefully using all the messes that I've been in and have been brought out of, to touch somebody's heart. She finds encouragement from her husband, Phil, and from God, who brought her through her struggles and into a newfound freedom. I can stand here today and say that I am 100% completely, blessedly healed. And there are days when I just get up and it will cross my mind what I've come from, and I can't even believe it. I am so excited, and it just makes you want to just grab everybody and go, "It's okay. You can get through this." I was just thinking about the scripture that says who the Son sets free is really free indeed. And what that means is that no matter what addiction you may be suffering from or no matter what issue you may be suffering from, you could literally hand it over to the Lord and He can free you from that. Listen, we want to encourage you today. If you're struggling with an eating disorder, then we have counselors actually ready to pray with you right now. The House of Representatives votes today to permanently ban federal funding of abortion. Congressmen like Chris Smith of New Jersey and House Speaker John Boehner worry the Obama Administration and Senate Democrats will make it a common practice unless it is banned. A ban on taxpayer funding of abortions is the will of the people, and it ought to be the will of the land. The Guttmacher Institute, which is no friend to the right to life movement, the former research arm of Planned Parenthood, has said very clearly and plainly that when there's no public subsidy for abortions, the number of abortions drop by about 25 percent. If we want fewer abortions, take away the federal subsidy. That vote is likely to succeed in the House, but not in the Senate. We will have an update on the vote on tomorrow's 700 Club. Canada's political landscape could change now that conservatives have gained more seats in Parliament. The election gave conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper the majority he had wanted and needs. Liberals and Quebec separatists suffered a shattering defeat in those elections. Harper has held the office since 2006. But this is the first time his party can pass legislation without the help of the opposition. But in Guatemala, we met a boy who had to carry something else to class: a bucket of water. Very early every morning, 11-year-old Berto and his father take a tedious one-hour trek up a mountainside to collect water. And coming down the mountain with buckets full of water can be even more tricky. Once we went up to get water and I dropped my bucket. We had to climb up again. But Berto and his dad don't just get water for themselves. They share a bucket with Berto's school, which has more than 100 students and no fresh water supply. Once I drank from the water at school and my stomach began to hurt. And the doctor said that it was caused by the dirty water I used to drink at school. So Operation Blessing decided to dig a well right on the grounds of the neighborhood school. And we even provided the children and staff with an electric pump, sinks and faucets, so they can have easy access to clean water. And that means no more trips to the top of the mountain for Berto. Now that I don't go up the mountain to get water, I wake up a little later, I eat a better breakfast, I finish my homework on time. Thank you very much to all of you who gave us the water. Can you imagine? Just put yourself in the place of these people. We have it so good. And you say, "What are we going to do?" The way we enjoy what we have is to show gratitude to God. And the way we show gratitude to God is to help somebody else. If you enjoy clean water, thank God for it and then help somebody else have it. If you enjoy a good meal, enjoy it, and then help somebody else have a good meal. That's the idea. And everything will be better if you help those less fortunate. Well, Operation Blessing, we've got a program that has drilled many, many, many, in the thousands, of wells. And it's so wonderful that you can see clean water flowing into these villages. And all it takes is at most 1,000 or 1,600 dollars, and you can transform people's lives. So anyhow, if you want to give to a well project, you can mention wells, or you can just give to Operation Blessing: 1-800-759-0700. And we're just very grateful for that. Now, we're going to do something today. We had a premium. I did teachings on The Secret Kingdom, and people really seemed to like it. And one of our board of directors said, "These are so powerful you really ought to show them on The 700 Club." So we're going to do that today for you. And I tell you what, the very first question that I'm going to ask you right now is one that we all asked, and that's this: have you ever wondered why your prayers go unanswered? Well, listen, you're just about to find out why, because Pat tackles that very question and so much in this segment about The Secret Kingdom. Take a look. I'm going to talk to you today about the secret Kingdom. What is the secret Kingdom? What is a kingdom? Kingdom is a domain ruled by a king. And when Jesus Christ began His ministry, He said, "Repent." Now the word repent is in Greek, metanoia, which means to have an afterthought, to think over what you're doing, to think again what you're doing, and turn away from what you have been doing. Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand. What is at hand? Well, at hand is right here. In other words, it wasn't something that was far distant future. It isn't something that's going to come in the millennium. It's not something that's going to be way in the distant future. It's something that's now. At hand means right now. The Kingdom of God is at hand. Your attacker is at hand. He's at the door now. And so Jesus is saying to us the same thing John the Baptist said. There was the same message. Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand. Now, what is the Kingdom of God? What is it about? What is this secret Kingdom? Well, you and I live in a world that is visible. I stand here, and I can feel my body and the suit I'm wearing and realize that this is what we consider reality. The available visible is what we think about. This is what we consider reality. When I was in seminary years and years and years ago, I was wrestling with the problem of free will and predestination. You don't think about stuff like that unless you're at seminary. You're a seminary student. You spend time pondering some of these theological questions. What is predestination? How does free will work and predestination? How do they work? We have free will, and yet God predestines things. So as I thought about it, this came to me, and I'll share it with you as one possible solution. Imagine that there is a basketball game. And there are two teams on the court shooting baskets. But behind each team there is an unseen team that is actually controlling the action. The score is attributed to the visible team. The big guy gets the ball. He slams it into the hoop, and they get two points, three points, whatever. But behind the scenes is an invisible player who is determining who gets the ball, when it gets to him, and what happens. An invisible world. There is a world of the spirit. You and I live in a world of the flesh. But there is a world of the spirit. Jesus said God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth. See, there was a woman at the well in Samaria who said, "Well, the most important thing is how you do religious ritual. Where do you worship God, on this mountain or in Jerusalem?" Jesus said, "That's not important. It isn't important whether you prostrate yourself, whether you kneel when you pray, whether you stand up, whether you shout hallelujah, whether you speak quietly. It doesn't really matter. What matters is what's in your heart, because God is a Spirit. And does your spirit communicate with God or not? He is a Spirit. And those that worship Him must do it in spirit and in truth. So we recognize that there is a Kingdom, a Kingdom that is invisible. We can't see it, but we can sense its presence among us. The Kingdom of God is at hand. And so it was announced with the coming of a king. And you remember when He was standing before Pontius Pilate, Pontius Pilate said, "Are you a king?" He said, "That's right. But My Kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my disciples and followers would fight for Me. But My Kingdom is not of this world." Now, as I began to study on this and read about it and think about it. I began asking God if He would show me some of the principles of the Kingdom. And suddenly, I found a whole world opening up to me. It was unbelievable. A whole world opened up that I had frankly never seen before, words that Jesus had spoken that opened to my understanding reality of how the Kingdom of God works, but also how it impacts the world that I lived in. There were principles of the Kingdom that were clearly enunciated. I was doing an interview some years ago on one of the networks. I forget who it is. Or one of the print media. And they said, "Well, this is just something for Christians, isn't it?" And I said, "No, these are principles for the whole world, just like the law of gravity." The law of gravity exists. You don't have to be a Christian to be involved in the law of gravity, but if you jump out of a building, it doesn't matter whether you're a Christian or a heathen or an atheist or whatever. You're going to fall to the ground and splat yourself down on the ground if you try to defy the law of gravity. It's there. It's an unseen law. You can't see the law of gravity, but it's there. And it applies to everybody. It applies to Christians. It applies to non-Christians. And so also with the principles of the Kingdom of God. Jesus gave us these things so that we can move into them. Now, there was a leader of the Jews whose name was Nicodemus. And Nicodemus came to Jesus at night. He sort of slipped in because he was afraid he was going to be talking to this hillbilly preacher. And he thought that his more learned buddies in the Sanhedrin would make fun of him if he was visiting with this Nazarene, this Jesus. So he came to Him by night, and he said to Him, "Rabbi," or teacher. He said, "We know that you're a teacher sent by God." Now, what was he saying? Jesus immediately went behind the words and went to his meaning. And He said, "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God." And Nicodemus said, "What are you talking about? Do you mean to tell me I'm an old man and I've got to go back into my mother's womb and be born all over again in order to understand the principles I'm trying to find out? I'm trying to understand what's going on in Heaven, and you give me this mumbo jumbo about a man being born again." But Jesus said, "Nicodemus, you see this little dust devil that's running around out here on the terrace where we're talking? Do you see the wind? You don't know where the wind comes from and you don't know where it's going." But He said, "It's the same way with those who are born of the Spirit. You can't see all these things, but yet you can see the effect of it." You can see the wind blowing. You can see the effect of the wind on the dust. So also are they that are born of the Holy Spirit. You can see the actions of these people as they walk among us. But you can't understand for sure what transaction took place in their lives, what transpired to make them this kind of person. So Nicodemus was more or less content with that. And Jesus said, "You're a teacher of the Jews. You're supposed to be a leader." And He said, "If I tell you things of earth and you can't understand them, how are you going to understand if I start talking to you about Heaven? You can't understand Heaven if you can't understand earth. And earth involves people being born again." But He said, "You can't see the Kingdom of Heaven." Then He went on to say, "Except you're born of water and the Spirit, you cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven." So there's a seeing and an entering. Now, let me give you this analogy, if I may. Assume that there is a man out on the desert. And in the Middle East the sun beats down very hot. And the air is dry. And this person had been out in the desert for some days, and he was parched. And he was clawing his way along the sand. Any little drop of water would have given him great pleasure, but he didn't have one. And suddenly he sees in front of him a big structure, and it's a dam. And behind the dam is a lake of clear, crystal, pure water. And in the lake there are fish. And along the edge of the lake there are trees and flowers, and there are birds flying around. And it's a place of peace and joy and it's a true oasis. But this man is down at the edge of this dam. He can't get to it. How does he reach over into this place of paradise? Well, Jesus said basically in terms of reaching over, "Except you be born again, you can't enter it. You can't see it. You can't get up over where this dam is. You can't find these abundant sources of water. But over where God is, everything is possible. There is no sickness, there's no death, there's no suffering. There is none of the pain that you would have in this life. This is the Kingdom of God. This is a place where God dwells. This is where His laws are applicable. And this is a place that we would all yearn to enter into. So to Nicodemus, He said in order to get there you've got to be born again. And in order to be born again, you have to be in a state of being forgiven. Your sins have to be forgiven, so that the channel between you and the source of life, that life giving water, is open. Now, many people pray. And they don't get answers to their prayers. And they pray and they pray. And they say, "Well, the Heavens are like brass, and I can't get through." Well, why? The truth is because their sins have shut out God from them. They can't see the Kingdom, and if you don't see the Kingdom, you're not going to be able to appropriate what's there. So we must figure a way, how can we overcome that which binds us to the Kingdom, because the Kingdom has everything we want. It has healing. It has financial blessing. It has marital bliss. It has success in what we do. And more than anything, it has access into the Kingdom of God and to God Himself. So our prayers are being answered. How do we get there? We get there by being born again and being born again involves forgiveness, forgiveness of others, forgiveness of ourselves. And Jesus said, if you read it in Mark's Gospel, He said, "When you stand praying, if you have ought against any, forgive, that your Heavenly Father might forgive you." If you will not forgive your brother, then you will cut yourself off from the state of being forgiven and the state of seeing the Kingdom of God. If you want to look up into the Kingdom of God, you'll see what's there. But you must forgive. You must accept God's forgiveness in your life. And you must walk in forgiveness. Except a man be born again, he can't see the Kingdom. And unless we see it, we can't appropriate it. But if we can see into the Kingdom, then we can reach up and bring down from the Kingdom the things that we need in our life. That's what I'm talking about, some good old fashioned teaching, the Word of God. Amen. Listen, in the weeks to come, we're actually going to be bringing you more segments from The Secret Kingdom. And check this out. I love this. If you'd like to watch the segment that we just saw again . . . . . . . . all you have to do is just log on to CBN.com right now, or whenever you want to. You can log on to CBN.com and see that. Now, right now, we have a few questions from our inbox that we would love to answer for you. By the way, that's transformed my life. The Secret Kingdom. What the Lord revealed to me. It was a revelation, and it took five years of prayer and study, and out came a book called The Secret Kingdom, but the teaching, it just revolutionized people's lives. It is. Even as I watching that series right now, I was waiting for that nugget of what do you do when you've prayed for something and that prayer has been unanswered. And, of course, you waited until the end to answer it. It was good, but that was the whole thing. So many times we wait for things to happen, and God is just waiting. It's just a matter of forgiveness sometimes in our heart. Okay. What else? Here we go. Questions. A viewer writes in and says, or e-mailed in, and says, "How can parents share the principles of The Secret Kingdom with their children," ooh, this is good, "so they can become effective Christians as they grow up?" Great question. Learn the principles. Read the book, The Secret Kingdom, and learn what those principles are. And then think in your own life, so you've got a little kid. He's eight years old or whatever. What is it in his life that this principle would apply to, and how do you explain it to him, that, "Little Johnny, if you will share something with your friends, then God will do something for you." Whatever. But bring it down to them. But it will apply to every level of life. Every level of life. And it's easy to do. But you've got to think it through. And as you ask God, it will open up like a flower. There are so many things in here. And it will apply to everybody in all walks of life in every age group. Absolutely. You know what's so beautiful, what I've learned as a parent is you can't teach what you don't know. So as a parent we've got to learn all those nuggets within ourselves and study the Word and learn it, so we can impart that to our kids. Barbara writes in and says, "If you are a sinner, does God hear your prayers?" Ooh, good question from Barbara. God hears everybody's prayer. And many times, you look at Jesus, who cast demons out of a man at Gadara, the Gadarene demoniac, and those demons asked Jesus not to send them to the pit. And He says, "Okay, you can go into those pigs." So He answered the prayers of demons. So does a sinner get his prayers answered? What God doesn't want to do is to bless you in sin, because that will establish you in sin, and you will say, "If I keep sinning, it looks like that's the way I get my prayers answered." So God won't do that. But does He hear you? Yes. And He will suit certain answers to you. But the fact that somebody is a sinner. God hears everybody. He's Father of us all. Exactly. I think the key is all about fellowship and relationship and that comes when you have a heart for Him. Arlene says, "How do I know that I have been baptized in the Holy Spirit if I don't speak in tongues?" Well, you really don't know. But that's why in the Bible it seemed like when the baptism of the Holy Spirit came upon people they did speak in tongues. But you can see the flowing of the Holy Spirit. Do you pray for people and they get healed? Do you have revelations from the Lord? Is the Lord speaking to you and giving you guidance? You will be led by the Holy Spirit. There are many ways you can know. But this apparently is the way that they did it in the Bible. So that's all I can say. What else? Real quick. "Is being slain in the Spirit biblical, and does it have anything to do with being healed or just being filled with the Holy Spirit?" None of those things. When the soldiers came to take Jesus, and they said, "We're looking for Jesus of Nazareth," and He said, "I am He," and they fell back, they were slain in the power. It means in front of power, the human being can't stand up against spiritual power. You find some of the Old Testament prophets, when an angel would talk to them. They had no strength. They were without strength. So it really has nothing to do with being spiritual or anything else. It just means you're in the presence of great power, and you respond to it by being weak, and that's what happens. Cool. Well, thank you for those questions. Tomorrow, a personal look at one of the nation's toughest jobs, America's First Lady. And today we leave you with the words of Jesus from Matthew 16 . . . . . . . "And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. And whatever you bind on earth will be bound in Heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in Heaven." I suppose I really need a teaching on what that means, but I'll leave you with a question. We've got telephones, by the way, all day long: 1-800-759-0700 Thank you for being with us, and Lord willing, we'll be with you again tomorrow at this same time. So for Kristi and Lee and all of us, this is Pat Robertson. See you tomorrow. Bye, bye. Here at CBN, we see amazing things happen when we stand together. That's why we want to say thank you to the thousands of you . . . . . . . . who recently pledged to join the 700 Club.
