This is Money Monday, and the price of gold rocketed to 1,030 dollars an ounce. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Wow. PAT ROBERTSON: It’s going up. TERRY MEEUWSEN: You were right. PAT ROBERTSON: Amen. Well, it’s going to get bigger and better. Well, while gold is going up, the Chinese are beating up on Americans and saying, “You’re not doing enough and you’re ruining the financial system. And there’s an asset bubble, and you’re causing it.” So the President is going up there, and he said he’s not afraid of China’s growing economic and political power. He made those remarks during his visit to Beijing. TERRY MEEUWSEN: But what did the Chinese think about President Obama and America? George Thomas has that story from Beijing. CHINA GEORGE THOMAS (Interviewing): Why are you wearing this t-shirt today? Bai Hanchen: I think he's cool. Everything about him is so unique: his story, his background. GEORGE THOMAS (Reporting): For 17-year-old Bai Hanchen, President Obama’s visit to China is as much about curiosity as admiration. Bai Hanchen (Resident of Beijing): He is unlike any other President I have ever seen. GEORGE THOMAS: Polls show Obama enjoys a level of personal popularity here. (Interviewing): What’s so cool about him? Damien (Resident of Beijing): I like him using a Blackberry, actually. GEORGE THOMAS: The fact that he uses a Blackberry. Damien: Yes. GEORGE THOMAS: But what does that say to you about this President? Damien: He stays in touch with the world very closely. GEORGE THOMAS (Reporting): While there is obvious support here for President Obama, many we have spoken to say in fact his predecessor, George W. Bush, was good for US-China relations. Zhe Sun (Tsinghua University): He stabilized the US-China relations. Nothing wrong with Bush policy in Asia, especially in China. GEORGE THOMAS: But with a new man in charge, some like Cai Le are less concerned about presidential popularity and more about America's economic future. Cai Le (Insurance Broker): We are loaning the US a lot of money, and I want to know if my money will be returned. GEORGE THOMAS: Mr. Obama is the first American President to visit China within his first year in the Oval Office, an indication of China's rising stature on the global stage and soon-to-be world's second largest economy. Zhang Haibin (Peking University): Our economic growth has made us more confident and mature as a nation. GEORGE THOMAS: President Obama will spend the next three days pressing the Chinese to play their part on a whole host of contentious issues, from the global economy, Afghanistan and Pakistan to North Korea, Iran and climate change. But Chinese analysts aren't anticipating any major breakthroughs. Zhe Sun: China wants to be treated as an equal partner, but China always says it does not want to play a leading role like the United States. GEORGE THOMAS: The thornier issues like human rights, democracy and religious freedom are likely to be raised only quietly, if at all. For President Obama, this key stop on his Asia tour is less about playing hardball and more about reassuring the Chinese of his commitment to a country that has invested almost one trillion dollars in US debt. George Thomas, CBN News, Beijing. PAT ROBERTSON: Thanks, George. Well, some of the Chinese economists I’ve been talking about are saying, “You guys are running an asset bubble. You’re mismanaging your economy, and you’re going to hurt the world.” That’s what they’ve said. So whether there will bows and toasts and all that kind of thing in the great hall of the people, behind the scenes, the Chinese are getting restive when they consider the fact that we owe them well—well, it’s getting close to two trillion. TERRY MEEUWSEN: That’s a lot of money. PAT ROBERTSON: A lot of money. Well, Lee Webb has the rest of our top stories from the CBN Newsroom. Lee, what do you have? TRIAL LEE WEBB: Pat, the decision to try the confessed mastermind of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York has sparked fierce debate. At the heart of that debate is whether our legal system can adequately prosecute terror suspects in a civilian court. John Jessup has the story. JOHN JESSUP: Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani says the decision to send Khalid Shaikh Mohammed to Manhattan to face trial, blocks away from Ground Zero, puts the city's security at risk with no guarantee of a guilty verdict. GRAPHIC: ABC: “THS WEEK” Rudy Giuliani ([R] Former Mayor, New York City): I'm troubled by the symbolism of it, also. It seems to me that the Obama Administration is getting away from the fact that we're at war with these terrorists. JOHN JESSUP: And the criticism doesn't end there. GRAPHIC: CBS: “FACE THE NATION” Rep. Peter Hoekstra ([R] House Intelligence Committee): They're going to do everything they can to disrupt it and make it a circus, and allow them to use it as a platform to push their ideology. JOHN JESSUP: Democrats are defending the decision. GRAPHIC: CBS: “FACE THE NATION” Sen. Patrick Leahy ([D] Chairman, Judiciary Committee): We're the most powerful nation on earth. We have a judicial system that is the envy of the world. Let's show the world that we can use that power. We can use our judicial system, just as we did with Timothy McVeigh. JOHN JESSUP: Moving the case from military tribunals into the criminal justice system poses major challenges. Experts say because CIA officers waterboarded Mohammed, some of the evidence could be thrown out. Critics also worry that the case could compromise top secret information. John Jessup, CBN News, Washington. LEE WEBB: Pat, the question I have is how and where are you going to find a jury of their peers? PAT ROBERTSON: They don’t exist, Lee. You cannot find them in this country. There are such animists against those terrorists there’s no way he’s going to get what you’d call a “fair trial.” But at the same time, his lawyers will use every artifice and device at their disposal to expose secrets. He’s going to demand that we open up certain secrets. “How come you did this? How come you did this? Why did you do the other?” And it’s going to lay bare the whole fabric of our security system. And it’s crazy to do this. In the military courts, you wouldn’t have to do that. In civilian courts, you do. TERRY MEEUWSEN: So what’s the point of doing this? Why are they not doing it in the military court? PAT ROBERTSON: Eric Holder is the attorney general under Barack Obama who himself is a super liberal. And he doesn’t understand security yet of the United States. They think, well, Guantanamo was a bad thing, and so we closed down Gitmo. And we’re going to bring these guys up here. But America doesn’t need them. They really don’t. It’s a terrible, terrible mistake. But I’m sure, well, it’s like Senator Lee. He’s a great defender of what they’ve done. Lee. BOYKIN LEE WEBB: Pat, one of the questions that continues to surround the Fort Hood shooting rampage is why the Army didn't get rid of Major Nidal Hasan before it was too late. I put that question to retired Army three-star General Jerry Boykin, who told me the answer is simple. Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin (US Army Retired): Nobody wanted to deal with the fact that this guy was a terrorist. His behavior and his rhetoric were both indications that he was subscribing to a jihadist ideology and nobody wanted to deal with that issue. He was a terrorist. That was a terrorist act. In fact, it was the worst since 9/11. And the mere fact that this guy was actually counseling and dealing with our soldiers who have been through the war in Iraq and Afghanistan is atrocious. It was a leadership failure, and it's the fact that the leadership did not want to deal with his Islamic theology, the fact that he was a Muslim is why no one would deal with this guy. LEE WEBB: General Boykin speaks from personal experience. He spent 36 years in the military. He was one of the original members of the Army's elite Delta Force and commanded the unit during the Battle of Mogadishu, which is depicted in the movie Blackhawk Down. He is also a Christian who spoke openly in uniform about his faith and his Christian worldview. The secular media's coverage, though, of his speeches brought an end to his career, and the double standard isn’t lost on Boykin. Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin (US Army Retired): And I think everybody in America realizes that the persecution of Christians is acceptable in our society today by both the leadership and the media, but no one wants to offend a Muslim. The fact of the matter is that this guy was an extremist. He was a terrorist, and somebody needs to stand up and not only deal with these kind of issues in our society as well as our military, but they need to deal with the fact that we are infiltrated from within by people who want to destroy the Constitution of our nation and replace it with Sharia law. And we can't appease these people. We must deal with the issue, and it starts with calling it what it is. LEE WEBB (Interviewing): Terrorism? Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin: Terrorism. LEE WEBB: General Boykin doesn't pull any punches. He believes the Army had better start dealing with the problem before another tragedy happens. OBAMA SPENDING CUTS LEE WEBB: The Obama Administration wants to trim domestic spending in next year’s budget. Federal agencies are being told to brace for a spending freeze or cuts of up to five percent. The cuts are part of a midterm election year push to reign in record budget deficits. But economists say Obama’s savings plan would barely make a dent in the trillion-dollar-plus annual deficit. The Associated Press reports any move to trim the deficit may hold more symbolic value than substance. Pat. PAT ROBERTSON: Lee, they were scared to death of the elections that took place in New Jersey and Virginia and all these various tea parties that are taking place around the country. The American people are sick of wasteful spending. So this is cosmetic. It has nothing to do with the reality that the spending is still out of control. So they trim a little here and they trim a little there and they put out a press release, “Oh, we’re just making drastic cuts.” Well, you know how it is in government. When they make a cut, it is a cut in the projected budget for the next year, not a cut in spending, but a cut in what they have projected they want to spend. So they can use smoke and mirrors on this, and hopefully they’ll try to fool the American people. And my hope is the American people won’t be fooled, because they’re too smart. Lee. GOLD RECORD HIGH LEE WEBB: While government is breaking records, so is the value of gold. The yellow metal hit yet another record high today at 1,130 dollars. Analysts say big government spending is hurting the value of the dollar on international markets, and that’s boosting the price of gold. But some investors point out that gold is gaining against other currencies, too. And they say its record breaking run still has a long way to go. Pat. PAT ROBERTSON: Well, I told everybody it was going to hit a thousand. I’ve told people it’s probably going to go to 1,800. And why? Why is it doing it? Because fiat money is printed by government. It has no backing. Have you ever looked at a dollar? TERRY MEEUWSEN: Not enough. PAT ROBERTSON: This is a dollar. It’s a crumpled up old dollar, but here. And look at the top of it and see what it says. What does it say across the top? TERRY MEEUWSEN: Let’s see. It’s says “Federal Reserve Note.” PAT ROBERTSON: That’s right. It used to be you could take this and say, “I want silver or gold.” You take it in, what do you get? TERRY MEEUWSEN: A note. PAT ROBERTSON: Another one. That’s right. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Another one of those. Yes. PAT ROBERTSON: Just like it. Yes. This is a piece of paper. It says “Federal Reserve Note.” It has nothing. It used to say gold or silver. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Nothing to back it up. PAT ROBERTSON: Silver certificate, gold certificate. No longer. That’s the backing. And that means that they can print as many of those things as they feel like. And they’ve done it recently. They have really, really flooded the markets with dollars. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Is it recoverable? PAT ROBERTSON: Maybe. They think they can rein it back in, but not yet. So we’ll see. All right. Lee, you’ve got good news on the theater front. CHURCH LEE WEBB: The Albany, Georgia, church that brought you Fireproof and Facing the Giants is hoping to strike box office gold once again. Wendy Griffith has the story on their next production. WENDY GRIFFITH: Ever since Fireproof took Hollywood by surprise, coming in number four at the box office on opening weekend and raking in 33 million dollars in theaters, everyone has been asking, “Who are these guys? It was one of the top shows in the United States of America. And these are heartwarming, very well done, heartwarming plots. They touch people when they go to see it. And those themes resonate. So I guess this one, Courageous, you could have some tremendous things. You’ve got four law enforcement guys having trouble at home. I mean, it could be a . . . . TERRY MEEUWSEN: Yes. As Chris Mitchell reports, some are now moving to Israel from the world’s two most populace nations: China and India. FOCUS: JEWS RETURN CHRIS MITCHELL: Recently, friends greeted seven Chinese Jewish men at Israel's Ben Gurion Airport. They flew from Beijing. Their journey marked the end of a nearly four-year bureaucratic struggle to get to Israel, but also marked the fulfillment of a biblical promise several thousand years old. Michael Freund (Shavei Israel): We are witnessing the ingathering of the exiles from the four corners of the world. It's taking place before our very eyes. CHRIS MITCHELL: Michael Freund of Shavei Israel, a group committed to bringing Jews back to Israel, says their arrival was prophetic. Michael Freund: The prophet Zechariah in chapter eight tells us that God promises that He will save His people from the east, from the countries of the east and from the countries of the west. CHRIS MITCHELL: This is home video of the Jewish community these men came from in Kaifeng, China. This community began more than 1,000 years ago when historians believe Jews from Persia or Iraq settled in China. Freund says their ancestors once dreamed of going back to Israel. These men are fulfilling that dream, a dream shared by the several female Chinese Jews who immigrated four years ago. Zhang Lan (Chinese Immigrant): I still remember my grandma always read her Bible, like Isaiah, I think 60th chapter says Hashem will like the eagle bring His people come back. And always this Word as scripture came into my mind, and I think it's true. CHRIS MITCHELL: The men themselves were joyful. Xue Zei (Chinese Immigrant): Today, we most happy. We very, very so happy. CHRIS MITCHELL: But the Chinese Jews represent just one group returning to Israel. This group of Jews coming from India, they represent members of the lost tribe of Manasseh and joined other family members who had already immigrated to Israel for an emotional reunion. They were the largest group of Bnei Menashe in history to come to the Promised Land. Allenby Selah (Bnei Menashe Tribe): Today is one of the most happiest day for the Bnei Menashe history, because we never had a large group like this that made aliyah. CHRIS MITCHELL: The Jewish agency believes the tribe of Manasseh is located in northeastern India in the states of Mizoram and Manipur. For many of these Bnei Menashe, coming to Israel is a life-long dream. (Interviewing): How long have you been waiting to come to Israel? Woman: It’s a long time. From childhood. CHRIS MITCHELL (Reporting): Several thousand Bnei Menashe remain in India and hope to come to Israel. Shavei Israel has identified groups like the “Hidden Jews” in Poland, the Subbotnik Jews of Russia, the Anousim Jews in Spain, Portugal and South America, as well as the Bnei Menashe and the Jews from Kaifeng, China. After their arrival, the Chinese came to the Western Wall. They came to pray and begin their new life here in Israel. Organizers say they represent the first group of Chinese Jewish men to move to Israel in history. Experts estimate 2,000 Jews live now in China, and organizers of this immigration hope more of them will come to Israel. Freund calls it and the return of other Jews worldwide a sign of the times. Michael Freund: God is gathering His people in. And this is an event not only of theological significance, but of tremendous historical significance as well. That means they’re about finances. And Pat, this first one is from Chuck, who says, “If anyone had told me earlier in the year that my investments would rebound and some even surpass their former value, I would have thought they were crazy, but it has actually happened. What can I do now to help avoid paying taxes on the gains?” PAT ROBERTSON: Chuck, the last thing you need to complain about is paying 15 percent on the gain you’ve got on your stock. The fact that it has come back, you ought to praise the Lord for it. And if anybody had told you, I could have told you. I’ve been telling people, at least in my own life, that I figured that it would rebound. It has rebounded more significantly. Listen, you don’t owe any taxes until you sell those things, by the way. If you want to hold onto them, you don’t owe any taxes at all. But taxes are really low, and all you pay is on your gains. So if you have an investment of 100,000 dollars, let’s say, and your stock goes up to 120, well, you only owe taxes on 20. And so you’ve got 15 percent of 20, assuming you’ve held these things for as long as a year. But if you don’t want to sell them, then you don’t pay any taxes. So how do you avoid paying taxes? Don’t sell your stock. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Okay, this is Jenny, who says, “The US Senate voted to extend the current homebuyer tax credit, but it still must be voted on by the House. I’ve heard that this is supposed to help stabilize the housing market. Do you think this is a good idea or is this just another artificial way to say the economy is improving?” PAT ROBERTSON: Well, it’s a little of both. It has helped somewhat, but it’s like a fraction of about one percent increase. They’re going to give a one-time credit for new homebuyers. And now the Senate bill has I think 6,500 dollars for existing homes. It has to be your primary residence. There is an income cap on it. They’re raised the income level of what you can have in order to qualify. But I don’t think that’s going to be a determining factor, because if you’re going to get a mortgage, it will be for a number of years. The question is, what are you getting paid for your house? What does the house cost to buy? And what kind of interest rates are you getting? That’s what you need to look at. The fact that there is a one-time tax credit—and I haven’t examined this as carefully as I want to, but a tax credit means you’ve got to owe taxes. TERRY MEEUWSEN: So when you get the credit, you’re going to wind up paying on it. PAT ROBERTSON: If you don’t owe any money, then it won’t do you any good. So the government is not going to send you a check, I don’t think. I think it’s a tax credit. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Oh, I thought it was actually a check. But maybe not. PAT ROBERTSON: Well, maybe it is, Terry. I don’t know. Correct me if I’m wrong. I thought they used the term credit. All right. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Okay, this is Emily, who says, “Pat, as we head into the winter months, I’m wondering what you think will happen with worldwide oil needs. Do you think oil needs will go up or come down in the near future?” PAT ROBERTSON: Emily, what you have to remember is that the Chinese have almost no cars. Now, they’re buying more cars than the Americans, and they’re buying them and buying them and buying them. And the Indians are coming out with something that sells for maybe 2,200 dollars. And when that hits the market, it’s going to explode in India and also China and other parts of the world. And when these poor people that have never had automobiles before start to drive, they’re going to start having a demand for petroleum products. The petroleum, unfortunately, around the world is diminishing. There was a giant field down in Mexico that has been cut in half, Cantarell. The Ghawar Field in Saudi Arabia has diminished production dramatically. Other fields, I think the Iranians have fields that start to mature. That so-called peak oil is happening. And so the amount of oil available is going down. The demand is going up. And the price therefore of crude oil is going to go on up. I think it’s going to hit a couple hundred more dollars a barrel. But the experts are saying it will probably hit a hundred dollars in the next several months. Although, it varies back and forth because of seasonal supply and demand in terms of oil stocks. Nevertheless, the long term trend for oil is going to be the price is going up. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Well, Brian has a question about something you mentioned earlier that people may not totally understand. He says, “Pat, I’ve heard that a flood of money into the world markets could cause something called an ‘asset bubble.’ What is that and how would it happen?” PAT ROBERTSON: What is a bubble? Well, if you push a lot of air into some kind of a balloon, it begins to expand, and you call that a bubble. And we’re pushing a great deal of money into the system, and it’s causing certain assets to increase beyond their trend, whatever the trend would have been, of normal. It has spiked up. And they use that to describe a bubble. But a bubble is not something necessarily bad if indeed inflation is there and the economy grows. This will merely be a reflection of what’s out there. TERRY MEEUWSEN: This is Brian, who says, “In the past, financial advisors usually recommended a financial portfolio contain certain percentages of various types of investments, like stocks, bonds and cash reserves. Since the value of the dollar seems to be in danger, how would you now advise folks to diversify their assets?” PAT ROBERTSON: Well, Brian, the thing that I like, and I believe what’s going to be paying off, are equities, stocks, that are tied into natural resources. I also like what are called master limited partnerships. These are tied in, for example, like transporting natural gas and transporting crude oil, and there are other things they deal with that are sort of—well, they’re settled. They’re not dependent on up and down prices of the economy. And those things pay seven percent, eight percent, ten percent, 12 percent. And they just keep on paying. So that’s a nice thing to put some of your money in. I also like the trusts, the Canadian income trusts that pay very high dollars, and they do very well. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Okay, this is Ellen, who says, “No matter how many times I’ve heard people discuss cap and trade, I still don’t understand it. I’ve heard some folks say it will decrease pollution. Others says it will increase taxes and hurt us economically. Who is right?” PAT ROBERTSON: The latter. It will increase taxes and hurt us economically. What is cap and trade? Essentially, it’s buying a permit to pollute. That’s what it amounts to. The government will begin to print certain pieces of paper which entitle a manufacturer to put out so much carbon, so much pollution. And if they don’t have enough, then they can have to go out in the marketplace and buy some more. If, on the other hand, they have more than they need, then they can sell those permits to somebody else. The problem that we’re confronting is that states like West Virginia, Ohio, Virginia, probably, and others that are coal producers are going to be hit with huge taxes. It’s because they’ve got to go buy these permits. And we’re talking about a lot of money, 500 or 600 billion dollars. And that’s going to be passed onto consumers. And so the cost per consumer is going to be very high. The thing of it is, it is a regressive tax. It hits the lower income people, the people who have to have power, the people who have to have heat, the people who have to drive their cars. All these people are going to get socked with heavy premiums, however you want to claim it. But all this stuff is going to go into the federal government to fill that insatiable maw that they have created up there that sucks in money. But that’s what cap and trade is. They cap emissions here, and then you can trade the permits. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Okay. PAT ROBERTSON: You understand? TERRY MEEUWSEN: Yes. I understand it’s more money. PAT ROBERTSON: It’s more money. It’s the government taking away more of your money. TERRY MEEUWSEN: That’s all the time we have today. PAT ROBERTSON: Thank you for those excellent questions. Well, not long ago, Keith and Deborah Ayers lost their income, their truck and their house. But that didn’t stop them from helping other people with even greater needs. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * KEITH AND DEBORAH AYERS DAN REANY: Keith and Deborah Ayers recently took time to volunteer for an Operation Blessing food distribution in Tulsa, Oklahoma. What made the day especially important to them was that long ago, they were in food lines themselves. Keith Ayers: I was unemployed for a couple of months. DAN REANY: During that time, Keith and Deborah’s new truck was repossessed, and they got a foreclosure notice and moved out of their home. Deborah Ayers: Truthfully, we give to God before our other bills. That’s the first thing that comes out of our check, and then whatever is left over, we do the best we can with it. DAN REANY: Even while Keith was unemployed, every month they sat down with a box of ministry opportunities and gave to CBN and other organizations. Deborah Ayers: We’ve always given. It’s just not a question with us. You give first, and then let God take care of the rest. Keith Ayers: When it came down to the fact of writing those checks out or going and buying the food, we felt God was saying, “Trust Me.” Deborah Ayers: Because I believe that the Lord deserves our best, and if you just continue to sow that He will turn things around for you. DAN REANY: Within the next few months, Keith was rehired by his company. The bank offered to restructure their mortgage. They moved back into their house and got their truck back. Deborah Ayers: It’s really good now. God has restored back to us all of our appliances, and they’re brand new. The ones that we lost were eighties models. DAN REANY: Today Keith and Deborah love to share their story and encourage people to tithe. Keith Ayers: Even when things seemed tight, the Bible instructs in Malachi that we are to tithe. Jesus said, “When I was hungry, you fed Me.” I really feel like we’re able to give back because He has blessed us so much. Deborah Ayers: If you’ll just hold on to God, He will see you through. She was beaten physically, battered emotionally. After she married, Christina expected her life to be better. Instead, she soon realized that she had only switched seats on the Titanic. CHRISTINA STIMSON Christina Stimson: The circumstances in which I grew up were just very, very challenging. I got hit and yelled at quite a bit. And I never really knew when the door of my room would get banged down. As a consequence of all this, I had no self esteem and no self confidence. REPORTER: Christina excelled in academics, so her father insisted she become a doctor. In medical school, she met a man her parents didn’t like. But in an effort to escape her abusive home life, she ignored their warnings. Christina Stimson: In the environment of me wanting to get married to this man, my father very much opposed this, my family was very much opposed to this, and rightfully so. In that whole scene, there was a lot of tumult, a lot of unrest, a lot of strife between the families. REPORTER: Her fiancé’s mother took her to a prayer meeting at her church. There, Christina became a Christian. Christina Stimson: For really the first time in my life, after accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, I really felt such a profound deep peace. And I just knew He was real. I just knew He was real. REPORTER: Christina found comfort in her new faith, but her new marriage was anything but peaceful. Christina Stimson: He was a very controlling person. And I think I was so used to being controlled that I really didn’t know what freedom in Christ was. So I went from one controlling environment to another, just like I switched seats on the Titanic. REPORTER: She became a successful doctor, but after ten years of marriage, Christina learned that her husband had been unfaithful. She also started noticing problems in his law practice. Christina Stimson: All of a sudden we are getting hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars of IRS liens in the mail, hundreds of thousands of dollars of credit card debt. REPORTER: Frightened by her husband’s illegal business practices, Christina filed for divorce and began practicing medicine in another state. Christina Stimson: I put one foot in the medical clinic to start working, and the next thing I am diagnosed with cervical cancer from the human papilloma virus, the HPV virus, that I was infected with from him and his liaisons with prostitutes, severe endometriosis requiring emergency surgery, and severe lupus with very sharp pleuritic chest pains that were very painful, as well as profound muscle weakness in my arms. REPORTER: After ten years of practicing medicine, Christina had to retire because of her medical conditions. Faced with these seemingly insurmountable problems, she cried out to the Lord. Christina Stimson: I remember just thinking that I had the trials of Job, and saying, “Lord, your Word in Jeremiah 29:11 says, ‘For I know the plans that I have for you, plans to prosper you,’” and I started memorizing scripture, going to church a lot, feeding on Christian programming, watching Christian TV as much as I could, and just drinking in the Word of God. And bit by bit, the Lord restored my life. REPORTER: Christina was granted an innocent spouse verdict from the IRS, and all of the credit card debits were absolved in the divorce. She was also successfully treated for the cancer and endometriosis. However, Christina’s lupus was still a major concern. Christina Stimson: I had a lot of hurt and anger that I had to deal with, so I went and undertook five years of Christian counseling which really helped me a lot. About that time, though, I knew that there needed to be healing with my mother. And I said after many years of not talking to my mother, “I am going to call her and tell her I love her,” and I asked for forgiveness of anything I did. Well, the Lord was working on my mom, and this turned out to be the biggest blessing, because we healed on the phone. We asked forgiveness of one another. I love my mother so much. She is saved. She has given her heart to Christ. And the moment that we did that, that very moment, all of the lupus symptoms left my body, and I didn’t have to take one pill again for the lupus. REPORTER: Christina remarried and today has the marriage she always dreamed of. She has been living lupus free for almost ten years and shares her story as a full-time speaker and author. Christina Stimson: Genesis 50:20 says that whatever the enemy intended against us for evil, God will turn around for good for the purpose of saving many souls. So I just see myself as a living breathing testament to Christ and what He did and His redeeming and restorative power to just speak to the brokenness that people maybe experiencing physically, emotionally, spiritually, even financially, to say, “Look, if God could do this for me, what can He do for you?” * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * HOSTS PRAY FOR NEEDS TERRY MEEUWSEN: God sees our need. He loves us exactly where we’re at. He doesn’t just love us in our need, He wants to touch us. He wants to heal us. He wants to give His power to us, to touch and meet whatever our need might be. We’ve got some amazing answers to prayer here. PAT ROBERTSON: Well, we just had with her. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Yes, isn’t that astonishing? PAT ROBERTSON: Lupus and endometriosis. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Yes. Several things. PAT ROBERTSON: Okay. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Well, this is Dennis. He lives in Spokane, Washington. He had a persistent sinus problem. His doctor gave him a CT scan that showed a tumor in the lower right sinus cavity that had penetrated the bone and was near the brain. So they scheduled a high risk operation to remove that tumor in June of this year. Dennis was watching this program in late May. He heard you, Pat, give this word of knowledge. You said, “There is somebody that has a brain tumor and the Lord is taking away that tumor even now. You’ll feel something going on inside your head, and the tumor is leaving at this moment, in Jesus’ name.” Dennis placed his hand on the right side of his face, claimed that word of knowledge. The doctor insisted on the surgery as scheduled but couldn’t find a tumor. Instead, he just found a mass that had the consistency of peanut butter, removed it easily. And Dennis is free. PAT ROBERTSON: Praise God! TERRY MEEUWSEN: Indeed. PAT ROBERTSON: Here is another one, Terry. What is that, Edgardo? TERRY MEEUWSEN: Edgardo, it looks like. PAT ROBERTSON: I’m looking for Eduardo. Edgardo of Lauderhill, Florida, had been getting severe headaches for about a month. His thinking became, quote, “fuzzy,” and it was difficult for him to concentrate. If he drove somewhere, he had a hard time finding his destination, even if he had been there before. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Wow. PAT ROBERTSON: So last September, he was watching this program. Terry, you received this word, “You have lately had a mental fog. God is clearing that for you, and you are going to have total clarity.” He claimed the promise. And when he awoke the next morning, he felt perfectly normal, headaches gone. TERRY MEEUWSEN: Praise the Lord. Wow. PAT ROBERTSON: We’re going to pray, folks. “Father, in Jesus’ name, let the power of God touch people. We thank you, Lord, for these answers to prayer. We hear, Lord, all things are possible for you. There is nothing impossible. Everything is possible with the God we serve. Now, Lord, we hold before you the needs of the people, in Jesus’ name.” There is a woman who has got a cyst in her breast. I believe it’s the right breast, but you have a cyst. And you’ve been concerned it may be cancer. It’s not cancer, but that thing will go away in the name of Jesus. Terry, what do you have? TERRY MEEUWSEN: There is someone else, I don’t know if this is a man or a woman, but you have vascular problems in the lower part of your leg, and it’s not just unsightly. You actually have problems with your circulation because of it. God is healing that condition. That weighted feeling in your legs and that occasional achy pain is going to be gone, and you’ll not have it anymore. PAT ROBERTSON: There is a man who has what’s called testicular cancer. And right at this moment, you’ll feel fire in that part of your body. And God has healed that cancer, in Jesus’ name. You can go back to the doctor or whatever, and you will find it absolutely clean. His ministry started when he was a 20-year-old Bible college student, when he had an amazing vision. Just watch. SET-UP PIECE GORMAN WOODFIN: Youth with a Mission, or YWAM, is one of the largest Christian mission organizations. It’s been evangelizing the world for almost 50 years. The man behind the mission is Loren Cunningham. It all began with a vision he had when he was 20. He saw waves on a map, and the waves turned into young people sharing the Gospel. In 1960, YWAM was launched, and since then has reached 174 nations. YWAM also started Mercy Ships, the University of the Nations, and Water for Life. Loren has preached in every country in the world. He continues to go to almost 40 countries a year and sees firsthand the transforming power of God’s Word. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * GUEST: LOREN CUNNINGHAM PAT ROBERTSON: Well, please welcome back to The 700 Club our dear friend, the head and founder of a group called Youth with a Mission, YWAM, Loren Cunningham. Loren, what a delight to see you. Loren Cunningham: What a delight to see you. What a joy. I was first here I think 42 years ago. PAT ROBERTSON: Well, we’re still here. Loren Cunningham: Yes. PAT ROBERTSON: We both had about 50 years of ministry, and here is something called The Book That Transforms Nations. Is this your latest? Loren Cunningham: This is the latest one, yes. I talk about having been to every country in the world now, that I have noticed the difference of the power of the Word of God on nations. And when they are undergirded, when that’s their foundational piece, the Bible, that it literally transforms nations. And I was with the king of Norway, and I said, “Why is that your nation has been declared the richest nation on earth per capita? It’s also the most educated in many ways and free. And yet, in your grandfather’s lifetime, when he was a little boy, they were one of the poor nations on earth. They were also a place with no freedom. They couldn’t go from one town to the next without governmental approval in their country. And they also were illiterate as a people?” And he grabbed my arm, King Harold—he’s very animated. He said, “Loren, I don’t know. I’m asked that question often, but I just don’t know.” And I told him how Hans Nielson Hauge, a 25-year-old farm boy, didn’t know how to read or write, but somebody handed him a Bible and said, “This is God’s book, and it’s good for every area of life.” Now, they could have said, “This is God’s book and it will get you to Heaven,” which is true. That’s individual. But the corporate concept of every area of life, and he said, “If that’s God’s book, I’ll learn to read.” He did. He met Jesus. It started the Hauge revivals. One out of four people in his nation read his books, 40 books about what the Bible says about government, about marketplace, all the categories. He spent, well, ten times in prison, and the last time, ten years. And that’s where he did a lot of his writings. He died at 53. And they broke his health in prison. PAT ROBERTSON: Why was he in prison? Loren Cunningham: For preaching. They had no freedom. PAT ROBERTSON: Okay. Loren Cunningham: And he traveled 10,000 miles on foot and on ski. He couldn’t even ride a horse because of the laws at that time. And he told everyone, “Get a Bible. Learn to read. Teach your children to read. Start teaching each other in the home.” And they laid the foundation that the enjoyment of that is in their society today. You can say, “Well, oil brought it. This brought it.” No, no. Oil is in Nigeria. I was just there. It doesn’t bring revival. And it doesn’t change culture. It has to do with the Bible itself, the Word of God becoming alive in the hearts of the people. And they commit to it, and then you build a solid foundation. PAT ROBERTSON: Tell us about that vision you had when you were 20 years old. What did you see? Loren Cunningham: That was 1956, June. And I was in the missionary home out in the Caribbean, John Wilkerson’s home. And Wednesday afternoon, I was praying by the bed. I was going to speak that night. And so I was kneeling by my bed in the guest room. And as I prayed, I just saw this tremendous—of course, God speaks in your language. I was a surfer as a teenager in California. And I saw these waves that became waves of young people by the millions going across every nation on earth sharing the Gospel. That was a time no young people traveled at all. We were the odd ones. There was a team of us, of five guys just deciding to go out in the Caribbean and preach. And since that time, we started in 1960, so next year is our 50th anniversary. And we have seen over 4.5 million young people go out short term, and we have about 20,000 full-time missionaries in 177 nations over the earth. PAT ROBERTSON: Marvelous9China has a great destiny. Loren Cunningham: I do, not for all the reasons that are usually talked about, but because they are becoming more and more Christian. And they’re turning to the Word of God in great numbers. It used to be just the peasants. And, as you would know, it’s gone into the cities now. It’s going into the elite. And I prayed with one of the most influential men in the nation. I had a whole day with him, praying. And he’d weep and seek God and we’d teach and so on, and then part of the next day. And he just loves the Lord with all of his heart. He’s just a brand new convert, one of our missionaries baptized. And as we’re seeing the changes taking place, they’re taking place at all levels. And the government has a think tank—I’ve gotten this from three very valid sources—in Beijing for 20-some years looking at the various worldviews. And this word came out just recently, authenticated, that they believe the best in the world is the Jesus worldview. He says, “We don’t like denominations. We don’t like organizations.” Those things they’d rather not, but they are really looking to that. But as they get to a tipping point, about 25 percent, and they’re not there yet, but as they get there, it will give them automatic underpinnings to build the great nation.
