UnderWing Transcripts PO Box 16282 Clearwater, Florida 33766 540 455-2333 / UnderWing@underwingtranscripts.com ________________________________________ The 700 Club Daily Broadcast Thursday, September 10, 2009 GORDON ROBERTSON: Well, welcome to The 700 Club. President Obama is making his biggest push yet for healthcare reform. He started with his televised speech last night. KRISTI WATTS: In fact, Gordon, the President faces a tough battle getting enough members of Congress to pass the bill. Here is reporter John Jessup with the story. SPEECH JOHN JESSUP: With falling public approval ratings on his handling of health care, President Obama insisted he's in this fight until the end. President Barack Obama: I am not the first President to take up this cause, but I am determined to be the last. JOHN JESSUP: After losing steam this summer, the President offered details about his plan, which include protecting Americans who already have insurance from practices like dropping patients from their plans when they get sick and providing affordable options, like an insurance exchange for those who aren't covered. He also renewed his support for a government-run public option, but he said it's only a part of his overall plan, implying he could accept a bill without it. Mr. Obama told his critics it's time to stop trying to score political points with scare tactics, something that didn't go over well with some Republicans. Rep. Peter King ([R] New York): I thought he was needlessly antagonistic. On the other hand, he did pull back, I believe, on the public option. I think that was hopefully the first step toward honest negotiations. JOHN JESSUP: The President hit back on hot-button issues. He called mischaracterizations of end-of-life counseling, dubbed by critics “death panels for grandma,” an irresponsible lie. He said no taxpayer money would be used to pay for abortions. Some in Congress disagree. Rep. Steve Scalise ([R] Louisiana); The problem is that the bill doesn't change. Mandated abortion is still in the bill. While he claims it's not, the National Right to Life says this approach, his approach, would be the largest expansion of abortion since Roe versus Wade. JOHN JESSUP: The President also countered the claim that illegal immigrants would be covered under the bill, a statement that stoked an emotional outburst in the middle of his speech. President Barack Obama: The reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally. Rep. Joe Wilson: You lie! Group: Whoa! JOHN JESSUP: The official GOP response was delivered by Louisiana Congressman Charles Boustany, a former heart surgeon who says Obama's plan would create government bureaucracy and add to the deficit. Rep. Charles Boustany ([R] Louisiana): I read the bill Democrats passed through committee in July. It creates 53 new government bureaucracies, adds hundreds of billions to our national debt and raises taxes on job creators by 600 billion dollars. JOHN JESSUP: But one Democrat who worked with Mr. Obama in Illinois tells CBN News the President is determined to win this battle. Rep. Janice Schakowsky ([D] Illinois): Don't underestimate Barack Obama, who is a good compromiser, but he has a steely core. This is a man very determined and that we are going to win in the end, and he's going to be the President that brings health care. JOHN JESSUP: President Obama's health care sales pitch is about to hit the road. He will take the message that he delivered to lawmakers on Capitol Hill outside of the beltway and directly to the American public. He’s planning to travel to Minnesota this weekend, trying to build momentum among the American public, while lawmakers in Washington try to hash out reform legislation. John Jessup, CBN News, Capitol Hill. GORDON ROBERTSON: Well, our White House correspondent David Brody is with us now from Washington. David, for you, any surprises in this speech? GRAPHIC: HEALTH CARE PUSH DAVID BRODY: Well, not really, Gordon. Actually, he delivered some specifics we hadn’t heard before, but it was more about that 80 percent that there is pretty much agreement on between Republicans and Democrats, for the most part. But look, I think some of the takeaways here are that there was no land in the sand on the public option. And the President pretty much called out liberals and said, “Look, if we need to figure out another way to do this to bring everybody universal health care, then we need to do that.” So that was obviously interesting. Also, there was a line in the speech, Gordon, where he says, “If you misrepresent what is in this bill, we will call you out.” That may come back to bite him. As a matter of fact, John Jessup in that piece that you just saw where congressmen are already saying, “Look, he’s saying abortion funding is not covered,” or, excuse me, that Barack Obama says federal dollars will not go to fund abortions, but already people are saying, “Well, that’s just not true.” So in essence, there is a litany of things that people can go on against the President here where he’s actually misrepresenting what’s in the bill. And finally, Gordon, I would just say that what the President said in that speech is very similar to what’s going on in the Senate Finance Committee right now. In a couple of weeks, Max Baucas, the head of that Senate Finance Committee, will actually have this bill that they will go through, and that bill mirrors pretty much what President Obama said last night. There is no public option in that Senate bill, Gordon. GORDON ROBERTSON: Well, if there is no public option, is he going to have the votes to get it through? If he loses the liberal ring of his own party, is he going to be able to get this through? DAVID BRODY: Well, we like to say this is soap opera central here, Gordon, here at the White House, because in essence what’s going on quite frankly is in about two months, let’s have a talk around Thanksgiving and I have a feeling what you’ll see then is some sort of compromise. Now, what is that compromise going to mean? In other words, most likely, Gordon, what’s going to go on here is there will be some sort of Senate bill without a public option. There will be a House bill, according to Nancy Pelosi, with a public option. You’ve got to go into conference, compromise it, too, and then what happens? Well, at that point, we’re hearing talk about this trigger option, in essence, that there will be some sort of public option that would be triggered in four or five years after the bill takes effect if private health insurance companies actually do not—or they can make sure that cost is under control. If they don’t get costs under control, then the government option triggers in. And so I think that may be the threading of the needle here. Now, there are going to be all sorts of issues with that as well. But this is not about Republican support at this point, Gordon. This is about getting moderate Democrats in the Senate and some of those moderate Blue Dog Democrats in the House to go along. GORDON ROBERTSON: Hasn’t he sort of made a real strategic blunder here? Shouldn’t this speech have come back in July when it was first proposed? You get that kind of support, you get that kind of PR effort going for it. Isn’t he trying to essentially repair a whole bunch of damage done by releasing the bill first and now coming back and trying to look for support? DAVID BRODY: Well, there’s no doubt about it that there are the critics out there that are saying exactly that. Look, but I talked to folks within the White House who said they really would not have done it any differently. And the reason is after coming from the George Bush Administration, Barack Obama campaigned on this idea that Congress is a co-equal branch of government. And so he felt very strongly at the beginning that he was going to let Congress work it’s will. The problem is, if you do that, you’re going to leave it up to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and others to define the debate. And that obviously is part of the problem. But, look, at the end of the day, Barack Obama is going to do what he needs to do. And now he has to regain the narrative. And you’re right, Gordon. Look, no one in the White House drew this up as a September speech to Congress. That wasn’t in the original draft, if you will. GORDON ROBERTSON: Where does he go from here? How does he fix it now? DAVID BRODY: Well, he’s going to pretty much have to deal with Nancy Pelosi in the House. This is what’s going to have to happen. As much as the Senate Finance Committee bill will probably get through at some point, the real struggle will be in the House. That’s where the heavy lifting is going to have to be. And in terms of what the President will do himself, he will go to Minnesota this weekend. He’ll continue to go out on the road. The White House believes that he can explain to the American people why health care is so important in their lives and make it very simple, dumb it down, if you will, which is hard in health care. But if you can dumb it down to a certain degree, they believe he will get a bill passed. GORDON ROBERTSON: All right. Well, thank you, David. DAVID BRODY: Thank you. GORDON ROBERTSON: Lee Webb has the rest of our top stories from the CBN Newsroom. Lee. CLIMATE BILL IN TROUBLE LEE WEBB: Gordon, a key bill on climate change may not make it through Congress this year. Senator Dick Durbin tells Reuters passing the complex health care bill is the Democrats’ priority. Other senators agree, saying they have enough on their plates this legislative session than to work on the climate bill. Most Senate Republicans oppose the bill, so Democrats would need nearly all 60 of their seats to line up behind the climate change legislation. And some senators say that may be one fight too many. MISSISSIPPI LAWSUIT LEE WEBB: The American Civil Liberties Union is suing organizers of a teen abstinence summit. The lawsuit claims that prayer, Bible teachings and Christian music were part of a state-sponsored event in Jackson, Mississippi, and that Mississippi Lieutenant Governor Phil Bryant was introduced at the event as someone who was, quote, “not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” The ACLU is asking a federal judge for an injunction to prevent future summits with religious activity. It also wants the state to return any federal funds used for that event. HUBBLE PHOTOS LEE WEBB: The Hubble telescope is sending back its sharpest photos yet of the universe. Even some scientists are amazed by what they’re seeing. Take a look at this. The first pictures since new cameras were installed on the Hubble last spring. The new photos show ten images of galaxies and nebulas, and one shows thousands of stars, with blazing hot blue stars and cooler red ones. And look at this. This is a nebula that looks like a butterfly, with stars heating up the gas in the surrounding region of space. One senior Hubble scientist says the images can even evoke a sense of spirituality, saying they show, quote, “the grandeur of creation, however it got there.” Gordon, I believe the psalmist had something to say about that, didn’t he? “The Heavens declare the glory of God. The skies proclaim the work of His hands.” GORDON ROBERTSON: The psalmist does say that. All creation declares the glory of God. And Jesus said, “Even these rocks will cry out. They will even sing praises to God.” And here we have just incredible images coming back. I used to be somewhat of an amateur astronomer back in my twenties. And I’ll never forget the first time I saw Jupiter’s moons and then the rings of Saturn through a telescope. It can just inspire awe. And here we have these amazing pictures coming back. If you get a chance, now it’s easy. You can get on the Internet and do it all. You don’t have to go out at two a.m. in your backyard with a small telescope and squint for hours in order to get just a fleeting glimpse. These days, technology has literally opened up the heavens for our view. KRISTI WATTS: I love that. God is the bomb, isn’t He? He’s so creative. He’s just cool. Well, just ahead, a look at two Muslim groups inside Iran who oppose radical Islam. GRAPHIC: NUCLEAR IRAN Here’s the question: can they stop the nuclear clock? If Iran refuses, it could move the Middle East one step closer to another war. As Erick Stakelbeck reports, there are some signs of hope. ROSENBERG SET-UP ERICK STAKELBECK: Iran now appears to have produced enough uranium for at least two atomic bombs, this according to a recent report by the UN’s Nuclear Watchdog. The clock is clearly ticking, and the Obama Administration's push for better relations with the Iranian regime has, so far, failed to make gains. Dore Gold (Author, The Rise of Nuclear Iran): They'll exploit any time you give them to get themselves closer to the nuclear finishing line. And then we'll be in a whole different world. ERICK STAKELBECK: While the west seems unsure about how to deal with Iran, the Islamic Republic and its allies appear supremely confident about their mission. But there is a growing number of Muslims in the Middle East who do not agree with the radicals, and they're beginning to speak out. Fehida Layadi: Are you Jewish, are you Muslim or are you Christian? I don't care about it. ERICK STAKELBECK: This Moroccan Parliament member says that democracy and religious tolerance could transform the Muslim world. Fehida Layadi: I hope that one day, I will see an Iraqi, a Saudi or an Iranian look at it the same way. ERICK STAKELBECK: Another group has joined these reformers in challenging radical Islam. Raised Muslim, they are turning to Christ in record numbers and sharing the Gospel at great personal risk. Father Zakaria Botros (Egyptian Revivalist): Islam is not the answer. Jihad is not the way. Jesus is the way. Jesus is the truth. Jesus is the life! ERICK STAKELBECK: Author Joel Rosenberg's new DVD, Inside the Revolution, takes you into the very heart of the Middle East, where he says radicals, reformers and revivalists are battling for the soul of the region. Erick Stakelbeck, CBN News, Washington. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * FOCUS GUEST: JOEL ROSENBERG GORDON ROBERTSON: Well, joining us now is Joel Rosenberg. Joel, it’s a pleasure to have you back on The 700 Club. Joel Rosenberg: Thank you. I appreciate it. GORDON ROBERTSON: This is wonderful. We seem to be at a real critical point in the Middle East. And I know you’ve written about it. You’ve written about we’re seeing the fulfillment of Ezekiel, some prophecies there where Russia and Iran seem to be closer. I never thought, in my wildest dreams I never thought that the two of them would somehow become allies in this. Where do you see us prophetically? Where are we on this time clock? Joel Rosenberg: Well, on the first hand, Gordon, we’ve seen Ezekiel 36 and 37 basically come true: the rebirth of Israel, Jews coming back to the Holy Land after centuries of exile, and we’re beginning to see the end of Ezekiel 37 coming true, God breathing spiritual life into the Jewish people, more Jewish people coming to faith in Yeshua, in Jesus, as the Messiah than ever before. My family is a part of that. The question now is Ezekiel 38 and 39. Russia, Iran, these other countries, are supposed to form an alliance against Israel in the last days. That’s what Ezekiel says. It’s never happened in 2,500 years. It seems to be happening now. I think we have to be cautious. God could kick the prophetic can up the road decades or whatever. But look at what just happened on Monday. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made an emergency and briefly secret trip to Moscow. Why? The reports this morning are that he was there to talk about Iran’s nuclear program and Russian anti-aircraft missiles that Iran has purchased and has not yet received. Why is this important? Well, it could be important prophetically, Israeli’s prime minister understanding the Russian-Iranian connection. But it’s also important because if Iran gets these Russian missiles to defend their nuclear sites, the window closes very rapidly for Israel to be able to take preemptive action. And this is what’s so dangerous, because apparently the new IAEA report from the UN shows Iran has enough enriched uranium that we know of to build its first two weapons. And that’s what this new documentary film, this is what we go into, is how serious is the threat. And in the film, I interview Netanyahu before he became prime minister again. He talks about preemption. How would he make that decision. He couldn’t talk about it on the record now, but it’s in the film. GORDON ROBERTSON: Well, Danny Ayalon was on this program recently, last week. And he said that he still thought Iran was two to three years away from actually having enough material for a bomb or actually assembling a bomb. That assessment now seems to be going away in just a week, to say this window is now much shorter. Joel Rosenberg: This new IAEA report indicates they have enough enriched uranium for two. And in this morning’s Wall Street Journal, you have the former US ambassador to Germany Dan Coates and several of his colleagues saying, “Look, they could probably have a weapon by next year.” Let’s say Ayalon, the former Israeli ambassador to the US, is correct. It’s two or three years out. Still, for an Israeli prime minister, how do you make that calculus? How do you decide? Because once Iran has the bomb, their apocalyptic theology says they’ll fire. So you have to hit first. And that’s what makes 2010 such a dangerous year. I would say as football season starts, we may be at the two minute warning, and it’s why we are trying through the film and this national town hall meeting that we’re doing tomorrow night with churches all over the country to get them involved and thinking, “All right, how do we pray for the peace of Jerusalem and how do we get the Gospel through everywhere in the Middle East and stand with Israel right now?” GORDON ROBERTSON: Back to I guess sort of the geopolitical analysis here, why in the world would Russia supply missiles or missile technology to Iran? What possible purpose is there in that? Joel Rosenberg: Well, aside from the prophetic and the geopolitical rationale, it doesn’t make normal sense. But you have to think about Vladimir Putin and his team. They are czars in their heart. They’re expansionists. They can’t move west, because NATO is moving east. They can’t move east, because China has nuclear weapons. They claimed the North Pole a couple of years ago, but their only real advantage to grow as an empire is south. And Iran is the key anti-western player. So I don’t think the leaders of Russia believe in this Shia eschatology, this end of the world theology that’s driven by a genocidal cult in Iran. I think they just think, “Well, these are good old fashioned anti-western enemies, so let’s work with them.” I don’t think Russia understands . . . . GORDON ROBERTSON: “The enemy of our enemy is our friend.” Joel Rosenberg: Yes, but they’re playing with fire. And it’s coming to a head. GORDON ROBERTSON: Well, it’s interesting you say the old czars. Is this a push for a warm water port kind of thing? Joel Rosenberg: It is. Ultimately. GORDON ROBERTSON: Is expansion south to get access to I would assume the oil fields and everything? Joel Rosenberg: Control oil, build an anti-western alliance. This is a serious threat. And I think, look, if you look back to the book of Esther, what do you find? You find a Persian leader calling for the annihilation of the Jews. And what was the defense? The United States? The western alliance? No. It was prayer and fasting. Mordecai and Esther said, “There is nothing else we can do than mobilize people for prayer and fasting.” And that’s what I’m trying to do with the film, with the book, with this web cast tomorrow night. GORDON ROBERTSON: That was amazing. God had an agent who was the wife. And are we seeing things within Iran that are glimmers of hope? I know with the revolution—and maybe revolution is too big of a word—the protests in the streets over the last election, there seem to be some glimmers of hope that perhaps this regime could be thrown out of power and someone a little more stable put in. But in the aftermath of it we have a cabinet that’s really radical, a new defense minister who is a terrorist. These are harsh words, but I don’t have any others. He’s a terrorist. And hasn’t just the danger level really escalated as a result of the internal problems in Iran? Joel Rosenberg: It has. And we have seen this battle. The battle I describe in the film is the battle between radicals and reformers on the one hand. And we’ve seen that all this summer. The radical Muslims control the government in Iran and have this end of the world scenario. People, the vast majority of Iranians, can’t stand that. They don’t want that. They want freedom. They want democracy. And we saw this battle in the streets. But the untold story, except by CBN and some Christian outlets, is the revivalists, that underneath it all, God is drawing more Muslims out of Islam to faith in Jesus Christ than ever before. We interviewed some of the key Muslim converts, some of the leaders as you saw on the program a moment ago, the clip. These are Muslims who are preaching the Gospel. They are coming to Christ. It’s extraordinary. And tomorrow night on this InsidetheRevolution.org web cast, we’ll have the Billy Graham of Iran: Hormoz Shariat. GRAPHIC: FOR MORE INFORMATION LOG ON TO CBN.COM In 1979, he and his wife were radical Muslims in Iran, shouting, “Death to America.” Then they thought, “Well, let’s maybe not death to America quite yet. We’d like to go to graduate school.” They came to southern California. Their marriage started breaking up. The wife came to Christ first. Then he did. Now they preach the Gospel by satellite to between seven and nine million Iranians every weekday night. He’ll be on this web cast to say, “All right, what is God doing?” Behind the headlines, God is moving powerfully. And that’s our hope. And I think we just need to mobilize, as you’re doing and as Pat has been doing. We’ll be praying for Pat. We’ve got to mobilize the church. We’ve got health care issues and economic issues. They’re serious and they’re real. But when you think about the threat of radical Muslims controlling nuclear weapons and the church being the only one that really understands the risk and having the answer, the hope of salvation through Jesus Christ for Jews and Gentiles. We’ve got to mobilize. We’ve got to move. We need the greatest wave of evangelism in the Middle East in the history of the world right now. GORDON ROBERTSON: A lot of people think that what you’re talking about, that radical Muslims can become converts to Christianity, is impossible. But yet, you’ve got in this documentary one of the former drivers for Yasser Arafat, a radical Palestinian. He was a sniper, and his job was to kill Israeli soldiers. And he is now a born again Christian. Joel Rosenberg: Yes. Look, he worked for Arafat. I worked for Netanyahu. The two of us shouldn’t be in the same room without one of us in handcuffs, but through Jesus Christ transforming both of our lives, we’re brothers. And it’s an amazing story. And he tells his story in the film, and he’s just one of many. I’ve been to Iraq three times in the last 18 months or so, and in the film you’ll meet one Muslim who came to Christ and then was captured by elements of the mahdi army, the army trying to bring in this Islamic messiah. They put a bullet through his head. I interviewed him. God literally resurrected this man, and he is telling his faith. He’s not even a preacher. He’s a businessman. But his story is so powerful. I saw the bullet wounds on both sides of his face. But these are just the types of examples of how God is doing something in our midst that we wouldn’t have believed if we didn’t go sometimes ourselves and see it. Is Joel 2 coming true? In the last days, God says, “I’ll pour out My Spirit on the young, the old, men, women.” GORDON ROBERTSON: All flesh. Joel Rosenberg: All flesh. And this is happening. And He says, “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” GORDON ROBERTSON: How can people participate? How can they see it? I know you’ve got an event. Joel Rosenberg: Yes. GORDON ROBERTSON: How can they get involved in it? Joel Rosenberg: Well, you can go to InsidetheRevolution.org and watch the web cast tomorrow night, Friday, September 11th, from seven to nine eastern. GRAPHIC: FOR MORE INFORMATION LOG ON TO CBN.COM And it will be re-web cast at ten p.m. eastern for the western zones. More than 750 Christian radio stations, several TV networks are showing it. And there is a trailer of the film, Inside the Revolution, at that site. You can also sign up for an e-mail newsletter to get prayer updates. We love you get people involved. And the DVD is available at stores all over the country now. GORDON ROBERTSON: Well, I appreciate you, Joel. I appreciate what you’re doing. You can get a copy of this DVD also. It’s available on the web as well? Joel Rosenberg: Yes, on the web, Barnes and Noble, wherever books are sold. GORDON ROBERTSON: I would encourage you, we’ve been calling for prayer. We’ve really been calling for intercessory prayer leading up into Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur. I really feel burdened that we need to pray. This is a very crucial time for Israel, for America. And now more than ever, the church needs to pray. So get involved in this. Get informed. Realize that, yes, God can pour out His Spirit. He wants to pour out His Spirit. And He says, “I shall pour out My Spirit on all flesh.” And it’s wonderful to see. Let us pray in the glory of God and see what can happen with that in the Middle East. Kristi, over to you. KRISTI WATTS: Thanks, Gordon. Well, coming up on The 700 Club, we have an amazing story of a young woman who met the man she wanted to marry. Woman: We had gotten engaged. And then just out of nowhere in his house, he actually ended up raping me. I didn’t know how to be that woman that it happened to a second time. KRISTI WATTS: See how she was healed from this trauma without therapy. That’s up next on The 700 Club. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * SPOT 2A: SWISS AMERICA Pat Boone: Pat Boone here for my good friends at Swiss America, the company that has helped Americans to rediscover gold for over 25 years now. You may have noticed gold prices have more than doubled in the last five years, but do you ever wonder why? Economists say the top five reasons are: a falling dollar, which also creates number two, a rising cost of living. Third, increasing demand for gold worldwide. Fourth, political uncertainty. And fifth, new Wall Street gold funds. It all adds up to higher prices ahead. Gold offers safety first and then profit. A wise economist has said a portfolio without gold is like walking around naked in zero degree temperatures. So don’t get caught in the cold without gold. CARLA MATMATI Carla Matmati: I’m Carla Matmati. I’m 24 years old. And you would never believe how much life I’ve lived in those 24 years. When I was 14, I was molested at school. It made me feel like I was nothing. It made me feel dirty. I was just hurting so badly. I didn’t care what kind of friends I had, just as long as I was accepted. I really, really love music. I started playing the viola. I think I started singing later. I started playing professionally when I was 14. If I was first chair in the symphony or did well in competitions, then I felt like I was something. That’s really the only time that I felt special. I went away to college. I did pretty well at first, but I started partying. We had had a party in our apartment, and I ended up getting date raped. I honestly thought my life was over, completely over. I didn’t know how to walk through it. I didn’t know how to just be a normal person. I was living in a nightmare. I would have done anything at that point to escape what I was feeling. I had started drinking a lot, really heavily. Anything I could get my hands on, I would do. I had tried drugs, marijuana to cocaine. So at night, if I wasn’t out at a party, I would just be up or I would pace. One night I was in the hallway, just by myself. I just heard a voice say, “I still want you.” And every time I say that, I feel it all over again, because I had an instant realization that Jesus, God, the God who created everything in the whole world, wanted me. He was telling me that He wanted me, that He had still wanted me. And so I knelt down and said to Him, “Jesus, I don’t want to die anymore. I want to live.” I woke up the next morning, and I was happy. I had never felt happiness before like that in my life. I was changed, and it was because of Jesus. It was because He wanted me. I had completely stopped doing drugs and sleeping around and drinking and everything. I met somebody who I thought was a really good Christian. He pursued me for a long time and wanted to date me. And we had gotten in a relationship, then we had gotten engaged. And then, just out of nowhere, in his house, he actually ended up raping me. My initial way of dealing with it was to pretend like it never happened. I didn’t know how to be that woman that it happened to a second time. For a little while I really questioned God, because it would have been really easy to go back to drinking and to drugs after being raped a second time by somebody who was supposed to love me. And it had crossed my mind, but immediately I just knew none of those things ever worked. The only thing that ever worked was Jesus. I would pray. I would just say, “Jesus, I need you,” until the pain went away. And eventually, probably a year or so later, someone pointed out that I wasn’t the same. I had realized that He had started healing me, healing my heart. I had a friend at the time who was traveling with Eddie James. And they needed a singer, and Eddie heard a little bit about what I had gone through and wanted to try to help me out. So I went to audition to sing with Eddie James, and I ended up traveling on the road with him for four years. And after he had heard my testimony, he had me share my testimony at different churches and conferences and places. I love the way Jesus loves me in my weakness. We give Him all of our junk. We give Him all of our pain, and He gives us joy and peace. When it’s all said and done, when everything has happened, it’s all done, that was the road. As bad as it is, as rough as it is, that was the path the led me ultimately to Jesus and to knowing Him and to feeling His love. I just have everything I thought I never could have. I have a wonderful husband. I have a five-month-old little girl. I lead worship for children. And some of my best memories in life are when I can put my arms around somebody, and I was able to pray for them and start them on the process of their own healing and restoration in their own walk with Jesus. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * GORDON MINISTERS SALVATION GORDON ROBERTSON: You can be restored. He still wants you. I don’t care what’s happened to you. I don’t care what you’ve done either, because Jesus can come in, and He can make it all new again. And He can forgiven, and He can cleanse, and He can restore. And the message He wants you to hear today is He still wants you. And He’s saying to you right now, calling you by name, “I still want you.” And I don’t care which side of the equation you’re on, whether you’re a victim or you’re a victimizer, because on either side you’re bearing pain. On either side of that, you’ve got guilt. You’ve got shame. You think that if anyone ever finds out, if anyone really knows, if anybody really knows what happened. Well, there’s somebody who already knows, and He’s hurting, too, because you’re hurting. And He says to you, “If you’ll only let Me in. If you’ll only open that door, let Me in, you can turn all of that over to Me, all of your shame, all of your guilt, all of it. I’ll make you new again. I can restore you. I still want you.” Now, if this is for you, if this is what you want, all you have to do is turn. You don’t have to have the enemy accuse you anymore. You don’t have to listen to the “You’re no good,” that “You’re just trash,” that “Who would ever want you now?” You don’t have to listen to that anymore. You can listen to your Creator, your Savior, your Messiah. He’ll come. He’ll give you peace. He’ll give you joy. Yes. He’ll take all that pain. He loves you so much that He died for you. And He wants to be with you for all eternity, all eternity. There is no sin He can’t forgive. There is no hurt He can’t heal. So if this is for you, if this is what you want, just bow your head. Pray a very simple prayer. Let God come in. Let Him remake you. All He asks is that you say yes, that you say, “Jesus, okay. I want to live again. I want to live again. I don’t want to die. I want to live again. I want you.” Will you do that? Bow your head. Say a simple prayer. Let Jesus do all the rest for you. What He’s done for others, He will do for you. Pray with me. “Lord Jesus.” That’s right. Say it out loud. “Lord Jesus, I open my heart to you. And I ask that you come in. I ask that you forgive me. I ask that you take away my shame. I ask that you take away my hurt and that you come into that secret place, that place I don’t talk about. I ask you to come there and heal me there. Jesus, I want to know you. I want to hear your voice. Speak to me now. Forgive me now. Heal me now, for I ask it in Jesus’ name.” Father, I just pray a baptism in your forgiveness, that your love would just wash over them and wash away all that shame, all that rejection, all that hurt. And just let them know right now you still want them, you still need them, you still want to have them with you. Do it now, for we ask it in Jesus’ name. If you just prayed with me, what I want you to do is just make a toll-free call: 1-800-759-0700. Israel will build nearly 500 new apartments in a northeast Jerusalem neighborhood despite objections from the Obama Administration. Just days ago, the Israeli government approved building more than 400 apartments in Jewish communities in the West Bank. The Palestinian Authority has demanded a total building freeze from Israel in the West Bank and Jerusalem as the price for restarting Middle East peace talks. But Israel claims it is going ahead with the projects that were already in the works and that the largest West Bank settlements must have room for natural growth in their communities. RAMADAN FAST? LEE WEBB: The mayor of London is asking people to fast during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Boris Johnson says even if someone is not a Muslim, they should fast to experience Islamic life and to better understand their Muslim neighbors. Johnson also encourages Londoners to break their fast by going to a local mosque. The mayor says, “Muslims are at the heart of every aspect of society. Their contribution is something that all Londoners benefit from.” Israel National News wonders, though, whether Johnson plans to suggest Muslims and Christians fast on Yom Kippur in order to better understand their Jewish neighbors. Instead, just one day after the fire, Carl and his wife were back on their feet and ready to rebuild. Here is how they did it. THE LUNDS TIM BRANSON: Carl and Ruth Lund of Ohio have been married for over 40 years. Since day one, farming has been a way of life. Carl Lund: It’s an area that is totally dependent upon God. We prepare the soil as He prepares us. He says we plant those seeds, He’ll do the watering. TIM BRANSON: The Lunds have always been faithful tithers and CBN partners. Carl Lund: God wants us to plant our seeds in fertile ground. And there is no doubt in my mind that CBN and 700 Club is fertile ground. TIM BRANSON: The values of giving and serving were ingrained early on. In fact, the Lund View Farm was passed down to Carl by his father and grandfather. And it’s always been the family’s only source of income. But late one night in 2005, something happened that threatened to close the farm permanently. Carl Lund: There was a person laid on the horn out in the driveway, and he wouldn’t go away. And immediately we got up, and he said, “There is a fire at the milk house.” TIM BRANSON: The building didn’t fare so well. Now the Lunds had another problem: what to do with 40 homeless cows. Carl Lund: A friend of ours in New London had just sold his herd. He says, “Just bring your cows over, and you don’t even have to worry about it.” TIM BRANSON: Now, they had an even bigger concern. With no way to milk their cows, how would the Lunds earn money during the time it took to rebuild the barn? Carl Lund: And a friend at church says, “I know you’re going to be in financial need. Here is 4,000 dollars.” TIM BRANSON: That same day, their neighbors asked if they could clean up the rubble. Carl Lund: In a period of three hours, they had the whole mess cleaned up. TIM BRANSON: Less than 24 hours after the fire, the Lord not only provided housing for the herd and a cleaning crew, but money just kept pouring in. Even though the Lunds were surprised by the generosity of their friends and neighbors, they believed that the Lord was living up to His promise. Ruth Lund: He’s in control. And that is so great. Carl Lund: We can equate with Luke 6:38 in terms of “give, and it shall be given back to you, heaped up, pressed down, until it’s pouring over.” TIM BRANSON: Today, God has completely restored Lund View Farm, and Ruth and Carl are back to work. They understand both figuratively and literally the concept of sowing in order to reap a great harvest. Carl Lund: Just as we wake up, and the sun is shining, and there is a gentle breeze in the air, there is nothing God can’t do. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * KRISTI WATTS: I love their spirit. I love their attitude. Even as I was watching the story, I was thinking about in the Bible it talks about seed time and harvest. When you plant that seed, the crop is not going to grow the next day. It needs to be fertilized and it needs to be watered and different things need to happen for it to come up. GRAPHIC: 1-800-759-0700 CBN.COM But when it comes up, it always comes up at the most perfect time. And I tell you, if you want to sow seed into a phenomenal ministry where you can reap a phenomenal harvest, this is the place to do it, the ministry of CBN. I tell you what, because you do, God is going to honor you. He is going to bless you. And so I’m asking you right now to sow a seed and become a 700 Club partner. It’s just 65 cents a day. It’s 20 dollars a month. And the Bible talks about how everybody, the nations, will know His name, because Jesus Christ is Lord. And that’s really why we’re here. So we want to ask you to call right now: 1-800-759-0700. Or you can log on to CBN.com. And when you do, we want to encourage you to also use something called Pledge Express. That’s automatic transfer where the bank does all the work. GRAPHIC: FREE WITH PLEDGE EXPRESS 1-800-759-0700 CBN.COM And when you do, we’re going to give you this wonderful teaching series that—what do you get Gordon? Every month? GORDON ROBERTSON: Every month. KRISTI WATTS: Every month you get this. It’s called “Power for Life.” And either Gordon or Pat teaches. And so we want to encourage you with that. So call in right now. And don’t forget to ask for Pledge Express. Gordon. GORDON ROBERTSON: All right. Well, when the lump in Ray Hayworth’s neck turned out to be cancer, he said the world stopped for him. But it wasn’t long before his wife Billie went into action fighting for her husband’s life on her knees. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * RAY HAYWORTH ANDREW KNOX: Ray and Billie Hayworth are pretty happy with where they are in life. Their kids are grown and gone. And they’ve been married over 46 years and still consider themselves best friends. But their lives were altered dramatically when Ray found a golf ball size lump on his neck. At first, he saw no reason for concern. Ray Hayworth: That first day, even probably for the first week, I really had no thought of what the results would be. I wasn’t worried about it. There was no pain. If there is no pain, there is no worry. ANDREW KNOX: Billie was immediately alarmed. Billie Hayworth: And I kept noticing him do this. And I said, “Why do you keep doing that?” And then he said, “Well, look at this. I’ve got this knot on my neck.” I thought it was cancer immediately, instantly. And I said, “Oh, honey. This isn’t good. I don’t think this is good.” Ray Hayworth: My wife caused me to realize the severity of it and the importance of getting some answers. ANDREW KNOX: Ray’s doctor called with the results of the biopsy. Billie answered the phone. Billie Hayworth: And I said, “Please tell me, is it cancer?” And she said, “Well, yes, it is. It is cancer.” ANDREW KNOX: Ray had not one, but two types of cancer: carcinoma and melanoma. Ray Hayworth: Our worlds actually stopped. Probably the lowest part of my life is when the doctor said, “You have cancer.” Of course, your heart goes to the bottom at that point. Billie Hayworth: And at night, I would lay my hands on his neck. He’d be sleeping away. And I would just think, “Satan, how dare you! How dare you come against us like this! Greater is He, God, who is in us than you.” And I would just yell, “I command you in the name of Jesus, you get off of his neck! You get off! You get off of his neck!” ANDREW KNOX: Friends and family started praying. Ray Hayworth: That really means the world. It lightens your load. You don’t feel like you are carrying it by yourself. You feel like that they’re concerned and that they’re lifting you up to God. And so that elates me. ANDREW KNOX: The lump went completely away. A trip to the doctor confirmed the cancer was gone. Billie Hayworth: She looked at Ray, and she had his chart in her hand, and she said, “I don’t know what you did, but whatever you did, don’t stop. Keep doing it.” And he just raised his hands and said, “Oh, thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus.” And I looked at her, and I said, “Doctor, we just prayed. We prayed, and we had others praying.” And I said, “God has healed him.” Ray Hayworth: I was elated when the doctor said there was no cancer. None of the scans showed any. And there was no evidence of any cancer in my body. ANDREW KNOX: Ray has had no sign of cancer for three years. He says the Lord gave him a scripture that signifies God’s amazing power. Ray Hayworth: “Be still and know that I am God.” That’s my theme for the rest of my life, just to know that God is still there. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * HOSTS PRAY FOR NEEDS GORDON ROBERTSON: And incredible story. Incredible story. I love what she did there. “Satan, you have no grounds here. You don’t belong here.” We need to realize, he’s a trespasser. He doesn’t have any right in your body. Illness has no right in your body. If you’re redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ, He owns you. He paid a tremendous price for you. And He’s also given us dominion. And we need to take dominion. We can take dominion over cancer. We can dominion over illness, sickness. He has paid the price. By His stripes we were healed. He has taken away all sin, all consequence from sin and all illness. He has borne our infirmities, taken away our pain. He has done it all. When He said, “It’s finished,” He meant it. It’s over. And now all that’s up for us to do is to apply it, to believe it. “These signs shall follow them that believe. They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” We just saw a tremendous example of that. We’ve got some others here. Here is one from Rochester, Minnesota. Linda, nine years old, broke her nose. She began to have chronic nosebleeds two or three times a day. Eventually, she went to the Mayo Clinic and had a procedure done, but it didn’t help. Then last June, she was watching The 700 Club. Kristi, you had a word of knowledge about someone who kept having a bloody nose. She added, “The Lord is healing you from that right now in the name of Jesus.” Well, Linda claimed the word for herself. That same day, same day, she stopped having nosebleeds. She hasn’t had any since. That’s good. KRISTI WATTS: God is so awesome, Gordon. I’m just still reeling about that story, because I love the wife who placed her hand. You talk about fight the good fight of faith, she was fighting. And I tell you, it’s a warfare, but we will win with the glory of the Lord. Okay, here we go. Carol from California tore the tendons in her left foot. Her foot was placed in a walking cast, and she was told to expect surgery within a year or two. As time passed, the condition of her foot deteriorated and her doctor scheduled the surgery. Then Carol was watching The 700 Club. Gordon, you had a word of knowledge, and you described her condition exactly. You said, “God is healing that entire foot right now, in Jesus’ name.” Well, that next morning, Carol followed Gordon’s urging to do what she couldn’t do before. She tried standing on her tippy toes and found out, guess what, she could. Her foot continued to improve over the next two weeks. And when she saw her doctor, he was amazed, and he actually canceled the surgery. GORDON ROBERTSON: I love canceled surgery. KRISTI WATTS: Don’t you, though? GORDON ROBERTSON: That can happen to you. In an act of faith, lay your hand on that area of the body that needs healing, and we’re going to claim blessings for you right now. Pray with us. “Lord God, we just come into agreement now, and we claim your Word, when two or more agree touching anything it shall be done. So together, we say out loud, be healed. Satan, you have no right to this body. Infirmity, you have no right to this body. Illness, you have no right to this body. You must leave now and be gone, in the name of Jesus.” There’s someone, you’ve got a problem with your left ankle, a severe ankle sprain. You’ve torn ligaments, and it’s a lot of pain. God is healing you right now. He’s restoring that joint now. What you couldn’t do before, do it now. Get up, put some weight on it and see what’s going to happen. Kristi. KRISTI WATTS: The Lord is healing someone. There is a lump really at the very, very back of your head. The Lord is healing that. There is another woman with a rash underneath your arm. The Lord is healing you from that. It’s a burn, actually. It’s a burn. Thank you, Jesus. GORDON ROBERTSON: And chronic sinus infections are being healed right now, in Jesus’ name. Amen. If you’ve been touched by God, we want to pray for you. We want to share your good report. Call us: 1-800-759-0700. GRAPHIC: 1-800-759-0700 CBN.COM God bless. We’ll see you tomorrow.
