Daniel's Wall

CBN.com Daniel and younger his brother and sister have become experts at peeling and slicing plantain, a type of banana.  The do it to help their mom with her small business. 

Alicia is a single mom, and has been raising the children alone for the past 8 years.  She sells the fried bananas at the bus terminal.  Her income barely covers their living expenses.  As the oldest Daniel watches the kids for his mom while she is at work.

“Sometimes my friends ask me to play soccer with them, but I tell them I can’t play because I have to keep an eye on things at home.  I was afraid to leave the little ones alone,” Daniel said.   
 
Then disaster struck!.  A mudslide caused one of the walls of Alicia’s house to collapse. 

“Right after we got a lot of rain, one wall got really wet,” she recalled.  “It literally melted and fell down on the beds.”

Operation Blessing quickly responded to the crisis and hired a local builder to repair the damaged wall with bamboo.  For the first time in a long time, Alicia and the kids are feeling more secure. 
   
Then we gave Alicia a grant to help her expand her small business.  That means she’ll have to spend less time at the bus terminal and will have more time to spend with her children.    

 “I do not have words or anything to give to thank you,” said Alicia with tears in her eyes.  “But I know there is a God that never forgets us.”
