A Deadly Infection

Imagine not having enough money to buy the antibiotic that would save your daughter's life. That's when you brought the help.

Transcript

Dilsea is a sweet little girl who live high in the mountains of Honduras with her mom and dad. Her dad Julio grows corn on his small farm, but it doesn’t bring in enough money to pay for everything they need — like the strong antibiotic they needed to treat their daughter’s bronchitis.  Her mother says, "She couldn’t breathe well because of the cough. She would choke." Dilsea’s parents walked three hours to the closest health center to have their daughter checked. But they only had money for cough medicine, not a strong antibiotic to fight infection. Days later Dilsea’s cough turned into a deadly form of pneumonia.  "We would get sad, because we didn’t have a way to buy an antibiotic that was powerful enough to fight the pneumonia. We wondered if our little girl would die." That same week, Operation Blessing came to their town to set up free a free medical clinic. For Dilsea, the help came just in time. "A neighbor took me, and I told the doctor about our daughter’s breathing problem. He examined her and gave her a powerful antibiotic. Today our daughter is no longer getting sick. We see that she is happier and has more energy when she is playing." To make sure the family has enough money to take care of their daughter in the future, Operation Blessing bought them some chickens to start a small business selling eggs. "I’m grateful for Operation Blessing, because they saved my daughter’s life and for the chickens they gave me. We will have food from some of the eggs, and we will sell the rest! Thank you Operation Blessing."  You can help others like the Dilsea and her parents.
