Dr. Leman: The First Born Advantage

CBN.com THE FIRSTBORN ADVANTAGE

Dr. Kevin Leman says the firstborn in every family has unmistakable traits that help him or her in life--or make life harder. If you're married to one, you know that a firstborn can be relied on – or can be a real nitpicker. If you work with one, you know they can be tough taskmasters. And if you are one, you know that everybody always expects you to do everything. Perfectly.

Firstborns have some really positive traits. Firstborns are achievers: they get things done. But there's a flip side to always winning. From day one, they're in charge; they always have the thickest photo album, and they set the benchmark for every other child in the family. They get ahead in life and others look up to them. Some famous firstborns are Neil Armstrong, Martha Stewart, Presidents Truman, Johnson, Carter, and George W. Bush, Oprah Winfrey, Bill Cosby, Geraldo Rivera, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Ben Affleck.

Dr. Leman says the firstborn has innate skills that are hard to beat if he or she is balanced in life.  Firstborns feel very responsible for everything that they do and everything they feel they should be doing.    They also have a hard time saying “no” and delegating tasks to others. Balance in life is very important for the firstborn, especially females. It is good for firstborns to learn to “settle” for excellence. This will help them achieve balance in life.Firstborns should remember their strengths and not worry about their weaknesses. They need to celebrate what they have achieved in life.
