Getting Back to Financial Health

CBN.com - Rex and Rosa Johnson love taking in a beautiful sunset at their home in the New Mexico desert. Shortly after they moved here though, Rex lost his job when his company downsized and they had to live on savings.

“Sometimes it was hand-to-mouth,” Rex explained. “I'm doing my best, and that's all a man can do.”

Meanwhile, Rex was home more often and started watching The 700 Club with Rosa, who had been a long time viewer. The Biblical teachings on the show reminded him of the importance of giving and tithing faithfully – something they hadn’t done for years.

“As I got interested in The 700 Club, I started remembering when we were tithing regularly and were doing these things,” said Rex. “It would seem like we would need some money and somehow it would happen. I would get overtime and something unexpected would happen.”

So when Rosa suggested they start giving to CBN, Rex was way ahead of her.

“God made a promise, and CBN brought that out and it kept resonating in my mind. He said, ‘Try Me.’ And I said, ‘I’m going to do it.’” 

So the Johnson’s became CBN partners. Soon after…

“Once I made the commitment, the next day I got the phone call for a job I didn’t apply for. Yes, I was surprised it was miraculous!” exclaimed Rex.

In fact the job was better than the one he applied for. The Johnsons believe it was because of their faithfulness to give. Now they are excited about giving, and say there have been times they couldn’t wait to increase their pledge to CBN.

Rex said, “I'm working out watching The 700 Club and Gordon's talking and I'm sitting there getting stirred in my heart and I'm thinking, ‘I need to give a little bit more money.’ I said, ‘Lord, let me finish my workout first.’ So after that and I did my cool down I went in and increased our pledge.”

Rex and Rosa are convinced that through their giving, God has blessed them in more ways than they can count.

“I’m able to give. I’m able to save. I’m paying our bills,” said Rex. “And now I wouldn’t think of not giving to God. So, I’m feeling good!”
