Gun Control Advocate: 'We Have an Epidemic of Gun Violence in America'
Gun violence kills more than 40,000 Americans each year, while mass shootings account for only 2 percent of all gun-related deaths in America today, Kristin Brown, a gun control advocate and the president of the Brady Campaign and Center to Prevent Gun Violence (Brady) told CBN News Monday.
Appearing on CBN News Faith Nation program, Brown said, "The common denominator that we find in shooting after shooting, and El Paso is really no different unfortunately than Dayton is the role of assault-style weapons and high-capacity magazines."
She told CBN News her organization believes Congress did the right thing when they banned assault-style weapons for about a decade. The Brady organization thinks its a problem that the ban was allowed to lapse.
"We think that ban should be reinstated and we think there should be restrictions on high-capacity magazines," Brown explained.
