Jo Weitz: 'He Cares for Us'

It was the beginning of 2008, and I just couldn’t get over a cold. I finally went to the doctor and found out that I had pneumonia and liquid in the lungs. I was extremely ill. I could hardly stand or do anything. This went on for a couple of months, until I started feeling better. Toward the end of that time, it’s like a growth developed in my throat. It was very difficult to swallow, and I preferred the softer foods. Even talking to people on the phone or praying with people on the phone, it was like my throat would just hang up. I had been to the doctor about this more than once. She didn’t know what was going to happen. I might have it forever, she just didn’t know. I was on antibiotics. I was also on a cream that I needed to put in my nose. I was of course praying and talking to the Lord. But even praising Him, my throat would hurt and I thought, 'This is so strange. This is not right.' So I sat down on my couch, watching The 700 Club. They started to pray, and that’s my favorite part of the program. They described my condition to a T. There’s someone else out there, and it’s like when you swallow, you have to swallow over something in your throat. I don’t know what it is but God is healing that condition for you and taking it away. I just couldn’t believe it. I said, "That sounds like me. I’m going to claim that. I know this works in Jesus name, and I put my hand up. Thank You Lord, thank You Lord." I heard this loud pop. It was very much like a pop gun a child would use. I looked around although I knew the sound was internal. I’ve never experienced anything like that. Then I noticed my throat was kind of warm. You know something is different. It was gone. I couldn’t wait until my husband got home so I could tell him. I was just rejoicing all day in the fact that here I am just one little person, not an important person, and the Lord Jesus Christ, the Creator of everything, bends down to answer my prayer and cares that much for me. That is so incredible how He cares for us as individuals. I’m one person out of how many billions of individuals and how many people God cares abut. Possibly there is someone else on the planet, but that one was for me.
