Martha's Vineyard Inspiration Weekend

CBN.com One hundred and fifty years ago, Martha’s Vineyard welcomed 15,000 to 20,000 revivalists over summer weekends creating “Cottage City,” a photo-op of colorful cottages in Oak Bluffs surrounding the 1870 Tabernacle which seats 1,500 people.  David Barton, a historian, says a new revival begins every 150 years and believes that the five-day event in June will be part of it, bringing revival again to this very spiritually dry area of the United States.

“We are losing our rights as Christians,” says SQuire Rushnell.  “For example, the National Day of Prayer.  Every single day, we are assaulted.  This event is an attempt to stand up for our rights in this most bluest of states.”

In 2008, SQuire and Louise DuArt performed for Dr. Charles Stanley and the In Touch staff for their Christmas party.  During conversation with Dr. Stanley, SQuire and Louise mentioned that they lived on Martha’s Vineyard.  They told him about the 1870 Tabernacle.  The next day, SQuire and Louise got a phone call from Dr. Stanley’s office saying he wanted to preach in the Tabernacle.  So in June of last year, Dr. Stanley preached on Martha’s Vineyard.  SQuire and Louise believe that this was the start of the spiritual awakening for Martha’s Vineyard.

Dr. Stanley reminded them that every major revival started in the northeast section of the United States.  “We believe the greatest awakening will start here,” says Squire.

Speakers include Dr. Charles Stanley, American Idol finalist Mandisa, Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, Avalon, soloist Mara Getz, David Barton and Squire and Louise.

Seating is $20 for one day or $75 for all five days.  For more information, please visit In Touch Ministries.
