River Worship Center Dishes Blessing

This kitchen is open 7 days a week, 365 days of the year. What’s on the menu? Enough eggs, bacon, sausage, and gravy for a hundred. This is the River Worship Centre in Park Hills, Mo. And for more than two years, they’ve been cooking up free breakfast for their community. The church was about a year old and had 25 people attending when they started serving a daily breakfast. “Our finances were enough to keep the lights on and just operate the church,” says church leader Danny Edwards. Pastor D.J. Edwards says that despite the challenges, God provides at every turn. “It’s an incredible thing to sit back and watch everything just fall into place,” he says. “It’s nothing short of miraculous.” Faithful volunteers are a key ingredient to keeping this free breakfast going. In addition to the breakfast at the church, hundreds of meals are distributed to shut-ins throughout the week. “I’m here pretty much 7 days a week,” says Martha, a volunteer. “The Lord has done so much for me. How can I not do whatever I possibly can for Him?” “We have a lot of single parents that are working full-time jobs that can’t make ends meet for their kids,” adds Pastor Edwards. “We found that a whole lot of the senior citizens that come in were, before we had breakfast, only eating one meal a day.” John is grateful for the church’s outreach. “This place saved me,” he says. “I’m on a fixed income. This free breakfast sure helps me get by each month.” “We stepped out on faith, on what we believed, and the results have been changed lives,” notes Pastor Edwards.
