Safe in the Center

CBN.com While most parents are able to leave their children in a safe kindergarten, there are some who will never be able to afford this. Zoleka Manenzu comes from this kind of family. At the tender age of five, she spent most of her days sitting and playing on the side of the street, a place where most of the children in the area learn to survive.

“When I was playing on the road I was not safe but now that I am at the day care center I am much safer,” she says.

This day care center was made possible by the gifts of CBN partners. For Little Zoleka this means a place of safety, a place where she will receive breakfast and a healthy lunch every day.

“I love to be at the day care center because I learn so many things,” Zoleka says. “I can count and draw. I enjoy the meal here. My teacher loves me and I like to be here because I am safe.”

“When we came here we saw some kids on the dumps, probably looking for something to put in their stomachs. And the result is that they don’t have meals at home,” Pastor Johannes Mabunda says.

Pastor Mabunda runs the day care center where Zoleka spends her days. His day starts early as his workers prepare the CBN sponsored meals for the day. The good food will help the children grow strong and healthy.

He says, “Without CBN and operation blessing it was literally impossible to have these children and you hear them laughing, smiling, drinking.”

The children that recently graduated from the day care center will hopefully go on to school and have a promising future.

“I want to thank CBN partners, Pastor, and his teachers because I am no longer playing on the street. I am safe in the center,” Zoleka says. “Thank you.”
