Trump Attorney Jay Sekulow: The Report Is Clear, No Collusion and No Obstruction
President Trump's personal attorney Jay Sekulow points out the Mueller report not only found no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, but it's clear there was no action that constitutes obstruction of justice either.
"The report identifies no action that in our judgment constitutes obstructive conduct that had a nexus to a pending contemplated proceding and were done with corrupt intent," the Department of Justice's assessment states.
In other words, the president was not found to have obstructed justice. Still, left-leaning media outlets have been arguing that the Mueller report doesn't exonerate Trump.
"Prosecutors jobs aren't to exonerate. They either prosecute or decline to prosecute. Here they couldn't make a determination of whether there was a violation so they, pursuant to Department of Justice policy, took it to the Office of Legal Counsel," Sekulow said. "And the OLC in conjuction with the Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and the attorney general determined there was not."
