Will Doughnuts be Joseph's Cure?

Aunt Ribka's doughnut business could not bring in enough money to get little Joseph's hernia surgery. That's when you partnered to give him surgery and the family the means to profit in business.

Ribka started a donut and snack business in Indonesia with one goal in mind: to save enough money to pay for an operation for her nephew Joseph. "Three years ago we found out that my nephew had been born with a hernia," Ribka said. But Ribka found it difficult to save enough money for the surgery. "I prayed and asked God to please bless our business and to make a way for us to pay for the hospital bill," Ribka said. Over the next year, Ribka and the family were able to save $200 from their profits. But still it wasn't enough to pay for the expensive hernia operation. Then the business took a turn for the worse. "Last month our donut sales dropped to the lowest point ever," Ribka said. One night Ribka saw a story about an Operation Blessing medical mission on Solusi, CBN’s Indonesian version of The 700 Club. "Suddenly I realized that God might be showing us the way out," Ribka said. Ribka wrote a letter to Operation Blessing and asked if they could help. She also sent them their life savings of $200 to help with the costs of surgery. Within days of receiving that letter, Dr. Anna from Operation Blessing arranged for Joseph’s operation. A doctor repaired the little boy’s hernia and soon he was able to go back to school. "I am happy now," Joseph said. "I can run and play without pain. Someday I want to be a doctor so I can help people in need." When asked Joseph if he knew who had helped him, "Operation Blessing," was his reply. Also, Operation Blessing returned the $200 that the family sent to help pay for the surgery and encouraged them to reinvest it in the family business. "I was speechless! God knew that we needed it to survive our donut and snack business," Ribka said. "Thank you for helping us, you have shown us God's great love through your service." Your faithful gifts keep The 700 Club on the air in the Indonesia and all around the world. If you're a partner, you are there for people like Joseph when medical treatment seems impossible. And that's not all. CBN is helping to feed and clothe children in the U.S. and abroad, is providing medical care to those in desperate need, and sharing the love of Jesus.
