Yoky Fernandez, a single mother in the Dominican Republic got some bad news. Her doctor found a suspicious mass during a routine surgery. Doctors did a biopsy, which confirmed Yoky’s worst fears. "It was a malignant cancer, so we needed to decide the best way to treat her -- and we agreed that the best solution was to operate and remove the tumor," says Yoki's doctor, Rafael Valdes (MD, Pathologist). But as Yoky made plans for a second surgery—this time to remove the cancer—fear began to fill her thoughts. "I thought, they are going to remove my bladder. I’ll need a catheter. I will get infections and maybe my kidneys will fail, and I will be dead in six months," she remembers. Yoky wasn’t worried so much for herself, She was concerned for her two boys – especially her younger son. She prayed to God, "If you don´t have mercy for me, please have mercy for my children. If I die, who will take care of them?" Yoky saw The 700 Club on television and noticed they had a telephone number to call for prayer. She picked up the phone. "I prayed with a counselor and I said, 'Jesus, I give you my life. I give you my heart. I give you all I have, and I ask you to have mercy on me.' " "The counselor asked if I believed God could heal me and I said, 'Yes!' If God raised Lazarus from death, then cancer is nothing for Him," she says. The next week, Yoky asked her doctor to do the tests one more time. "We sent the biopsy to two different places and to God's glory, they said the cancer was gone. There was no evidence of it at all," says Yoky. "They said all that I had was a bladder inflammation." Dr. Rafael Valdes was stunned: "I have no explanation. If there had been a surgery, I would say the tumor was extracted. But in her case, there was no surgery. And the second round of tests showed that the surgery was not needed because the tumor was gone." When Yoky first was diagnosed with cancer she was afraid she would die and leave her sons without a mother. Today she celebrates her eldest’s son’s graduation from medical school! "I learned God is merciful. I came to Jesus. I was healed, and I have salvation thanks to The 700 Club," says Yoky.
