The Great Physician Is Here

Have you placed your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Great Physician? 

In Jeremiah 8:22 the prophet asked, “Is there no balm in Gilead; is there no physician there? Why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?” 

I believe Jeremiah longed for God to apply the healing balm in Gilead to their wounds of brokenness, illnesses, and suffering. Ultimately, the healing balm came to Gilead and the rest of the world through the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the only One who can heal and restore us to health and wholeness.

Many years ago, at the age of 70, my father was admitted to the hospital for the very first time in his life. I did not know the diagnosis or symptoms that caused his illness but when I walked into the room, he was desperately sick. His face was pale; he felt very weak and in pain. 

I had never seen him in this condition. Suddenly, worry and doubt came over me, but I refused to let these negative emotions and feelings dictate my actions. So, I chose to trust God and pray His perfect will instead. 

In faith, I prayed for his healing and told my father that I had something to give him. I hurried home and returned with a cassette player, earphones, and healing Scriptures for him to listen to while he was in the hospital.

I came back to visit him three days later. My father was smiling, sitting on the side of the bed with his bags packed, waiting to be discharged from the hospital. It was truly a miracle and an incredible praise report!

This confirmed in my heart the words from Proverbs 4:20-22:  

My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. 

We thanked God that my father’s strength and health were restored and Dad maintained a heart of gratefulness to God for His supernatural healing power for the rest of his life. My father walked in divine health and abundant life to the age of 92. 

Jesus Christ is the same compassionate physician now that He was during His earthly ministry. In Him, there is healing balm for every disease and restoration power for every infirmity.

Will you seek His healing balm for your health, deliverance, assurance, and pardon?
