Dr. Alveda King Joins The 700 Club in Honor of Black History Month

BLACK HISTORY MONTH

In 1976, President Gerald Ford implemented Black History Month which has been celebrated in the United States every February. President Ford said, “The month was to “honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.” Some African Americans in America’s history that Alveda highlights include: 
•    Tyre Nichols - She’s very concerned about the ongoing violence around the country, including the death of Tyre in Memphis. All police brutality is not race based. In the case of Tyre, he was Black and all of his punishers were all Black. They didn’t see a human being. They saw a perceived threat maybe. Man’s inhumanity to man. “We can either walk the high road of brotherhood or the low road of man’s inhumanity to man.” — MLK  We must learn to live and not kill each other. "We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools.” — MLK
•    Megan Markle – She is an ethnically blended person who married into the British Royal family. She is the wife of Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex which makes her the Duchess of Sussex. When asked about her ethniticity she says, "My dad is Caucasian and my mom is African American. I'm half black and half white."
•    Erma Clardy Craven - Prior to Roe, as a social worker, Emma sounded the alarm. She put out a topic piece on Abortion, Poverty, and Black Genocide which showed up in a pamphlet. Around 1972, it was a chapter in a book she wrote. It was because of her, Dr Mildred Jefferson and pastor Hiram Crawford, that pro-life groups and organizations started to form. Erma passed in 1994 when LEARN, Inc. was planning to present her with our Pro-Life Pioneer Award. That year, with Dr Haywood Robinson MD, Chairman and Akua Furlow, Executive Director, we unanimously agreed to present it posthumously and renamed the award The Erma Clardy Craven Award. The next recipient to receive it (live) was the late Hetty Pasco, a civil rights activist who was jailed and was an adamant advocate for life. Prior to the pandemic the latest recipient was Connie Eller. 
•    Bishop Dean Nelson -minister and executive leader who currently serves as the executive director for Human Coalition Action, a national nonprofit organization serving women and families in metropolitan areas. 
•    Ben Carson – retired American neurosurgeon and politician. From 2017 – 2021 he served as the 17th United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. In 1987, he led a team of surgeons in the first known separation of conjoined twins joined at the back of the head. Alveda just completed a voice over for Harriet Tubman in Ben’s Star Spangled Adventures for Kids series, a free cartoon series created by top Hollywood talent to teach kids about our country’s history and values. 

Alveda says people of all ethnicities were mentioned in the Bible. Galatians 3:28  - “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Jeremiah 13:23, “Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? Then you also can do good. Who are accustomed to doing evil.” Song of Solomon 1:5 “I am black but lovely, o daughters of Jerusalem, like the tents of Kedar, like the curtains of Solomon.”

FAMILY LEGACY

She is the daughter of the late slain civil rights activist Rev. A. D. King (Alveda became an activist herself at the age of twelve when her dad took her to her first march in 1963) and the niece of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who was killed in 1968 by an assasin’s bullet. A.D. and Martin Luther King’s message to “love everybody and do the right thing” is what their families continue to try to do to follow in their footsteps. They preach the message of love and forgiveness.

Alveda is the guardian of the King Family Legacy. She oversees that the truths that have made the King family influential and prosperous are protected and continue to be shared. She highlights the King's core value of fighting for justice because it is the very essence of who they are. Fighting injustice started with Alveda’s grandfather who lobbied hard for black privileges while pastoring at their church. Alveda’s father promoted credit unions for his church members and encouraged people to further their education during the civil rights movement. She serves as Chair of the America First Policy Institute’s Center for the American Dream works to remind people of her uncle’s message, “There’s only one human race.”

ABOUT ALVEDA

She is a Christian evangelist and founder of Speak for Life, and Alveda King Ministries. She is also an acclaimed author, Fox News Channel contributor, Fox Nation host (for a cooking show which came about as a result of her cooking demo on the 700 Club, NEWSMAX blog contributor, twice elected to GA State House, past presidential appointee, 2021 recipient of the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award, and is a film and music industry veteran.

She also focuses on the evils of abortion and calls for the same civil rights for the unborn. She works hard in fighting for the stability and foundation of the traditional family while promoting values and morals. She also offers tangible resources for families in need so they can live prosperously to their full potential. She explains, “We aim to educate through community events, mentoring programs, media campaigns scholarship awards, coalition-building Christian advocacy groups and other means of positive reinforcement in order to lead people to Christ in expectancy of life, family, hope and ‘agape love’ in the global community.”
