Fellowship with God
The Bible reminds us again and again that God is a personal God -- not some faraway, distant Idea, but the Supreme Person, who actually enjoys the fellowship of his people. Unlike some of the cold, unapproachable gods of some religions, our God is approachable. He wants to be near us, and he wants our devotion and love.
The good news is, we don't have to wait for death to enjoy this. Fellowship with God begins now, and it continues forever and ever without end.
I will walk among you; I will be your God, and you will be my people.
Leviticus 26:12
We are telling you about what we ourselves have actually seen and heard, so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
This is the message he has given us to announce to you: God is light and there is no darkness in him at all. So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness. We are not living in the truth. But if we are living in the light of God's presence, just as Christ is, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from every sin.
1 John 1:3, 5-7
Those who obey God's commandments live in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Holy Spirit lives in us.
1 John 3:24
"Where two or three gather together because they are mine, I am there among them."
Matthew 18:20
Since Christ lives within you, even though your body will die because of sin, your spirit is alive because you have been made right with God.
And since we are his children, we will share his treasures -- for everything God gives to his Son, Christ, is ours too. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.
Romans 8:10, 17
If you wander beyond the teaching of Christ, you will not have fellowship with God. But if you continue in the teaching of Christ, you will have fellowship with both the Father and the Son.
2 John 9
"Look! Here I stand at the door and knock. If you hear me calling and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal as friends."
Revelation 3:20
I heard a loud shout from the throne saying, "Look, the home of God is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will remove all of their sorrows, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. For the old world and its evils are gone forever."
Revelation 21:3-4
