When COVID-19 hit the nation Mexico, more than a million people, who were employed at the time, lost their jobs. People like Blanca and her husband. He was out looking for work when we met Blanca.
“I used to work as a housekeeper, but due to the pandemic, I lost my job,” she said. “And because I’m pregnant I have to be especially careful.”
Blanca said they are also taking care of her sister and her new baby as well.
“I can’t go out and just look for a job. It’s too big a risk because of the babies,” she said. “It’s so frustrating. We really need the money to buy food.”
When Operation Blessing learned about the need in the community, we sponsored a food program through a local church. That program prepared and delivered more than 200 meals a day for an entire month! We also gave families some bleach manufactured by Operation Blessing Mexico to disinfect and keep their homes safe from COVID-19 and other viruses and bacteria.
“I didn’t know what to make because we had so little food,” said Blanca. “But now, thanks to the meals, I don’t have to worry about what my son and my sister-in-law will eat. I don’t know how to thank you! I’m eternally grateful, and I hope God will repay you!”
