Myles Munroe Loss Stuns Christians Around the World

We are still learning more about the Bahamas plane crash that killed celebrated pastor Myles Munroe Sunday. The tragic loss has stunned Christians around the world.

Pastor Myles Munroe, his wife and co-pastor Ruth Munroe, and three other ministry leaders were killed in the crash.

The ministry's website indicates its senior vice president Dr. Richard Pinder, youth pastors Lavard and Radel Parks, and their son Johannan were all among the nine people on board the small, private plane that crashed Sunday night in the Bahamas.

Munroe was founder and president of Bahamas Faith Ministries International but with his wife Ruth by his side, he quickly became an influential, international religious leader.

The Bahamas-native founded the ministry in the early 1980s after studying at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

As an international religious leader, he wrote dozens of books and delivered sermons around the world, often appearing on popular Christian programs like CBN's 700 Club.

"People are becoming aware that life cannot go on as usual anymore. That their experience with God has to be something that is relevant, consistent with their present day needs. They all need a sense of impacting their community, their environment," the renowned teacher once said.

Munroe's impact on his environment and community was clear when church leaders broke the news of his death to members of his church.

"Words cannot express what we feel tonight," one member said.

Aviation experts say their private plane had departed from the capital of Nassau and crashed about 5 p.m. Sunday while attempting to land at Grand Bahama International Airport in Freeport.

The ministry's website also says pilots Stanlet Thurston and Farkhan Cooper were on the plane. There is also one addiitonal passenger whose identity has not been released.

CBN reporter Efrem Graham, who has been following the crash, spoke more about reactions to Munroe's death, the leadership conference, and more.
