Carney Prepping For First Briefing

It feels a little bit like the first day of school in the White House Briefing Room today. New Press Secretary Jay Carney will deliver his first briefing at 12:30p.m.

The White House Press Corps (including me) has been eager to hear from him. Monday was his first official day on the job, but because it was "Budget Day" around here, he didn't brief reporters. OMB Director Jack Lew did.

And yesterday, of course, we heard from Carney's boss, President Obama himself.

"I figured that I'd give Jay one more taste of freedom before we lock him in a room with all of you," Obama joked with reporters during yesterday's press conference.

Carney has been with the President, and present for press coverage, all week. He's been prepping behind the scenes, cramming and practicing with advisers.

Well... today is the day! It will be the first time former TIME reporter Jay Carney is on the other side of that famous podium. White House Wrap wishes him well.
