The Brody File caught up with Marcus Bachmann at The Daily Grind coffee shop in downtown Sioux City, Iowa before tonight’s GOP debate.
Michele Bachmann’s husband has been by her side throughout this campaign. He tells me that she can definitely win Iowa and reveals to me that it was Michele herself who came up with that now famous, “Newt Romney” line unveiled at the last debate.
Also, earlier in the campaign Marcus and Michele liked to dance on stage at campaign events, so could "Dancing With The Stars" be in their future? Watch below.
David Brody: Can she do this? Can she get a ticket out of Iowa? Top three? Maybe win this thing?
Marcus Bachmann: Oh yeah. Michele has, if you look at her history even sometimes at the stroke before midnight when people come right down to it they study the person and they understand that Michele has not flipped flopped.
What Michele says she’ll do and that’s a rare commodity today when you understand that many of these other candidates have not had the kind of consistent record.
Brody: I’m wondering if that ‘Newt Romney’ line is the new 999 line? That’s a heck of a line. That got a lot of attention.
Bachmann: We have a few advisors and she just came up on that on her own.
Brody: Did she really?
Bachman: Oh yeah. Oh yeah like she does many things even the people on the team will say where did you get that one from? Well that’s Michele and that’s kind of the beauty of Michele - is very authentic, very real. It’s not someone who has risen to the top here for any calculated plan. It’s been who Michele is.
Brody: Let me just say whatever ends up happening what about 'Dancing With The Stars'? You and Michele on stage? You can do this Marcus.
Bachmann: You know that has never crossed my mind. You know Michele is actually a pretty good dancer. She is. All I have to do is twirl and she does the rest so it would be fun. Thanks for asking!
