'Breakthrough' Earns Oscar Nomination for Best Original Song

Oscar nominations were announced yesterday, and among them was a nod to the standout song "I'm Standing With You," featured in the Franklin Entertainment faith-based film Breakthrough. 

Breakthrough is based on the inspirational true story of one mother’s unfaltering love in the face of impossible odds. When Joyce Smith’s adopted son John falls through an icy Missouri lake, all hope seems lost, but Joyce refuses to give up and her steadfast belief inspires those around her to continue to pray for John’s recovery.

The original song, penned by 10-time Oscar nominated Diane Warren, is performed by Chrissy Metz, star of TV's This Is Us. It's also her first single and music video. The outstanding performance just garnered Metz a music deal with Universal Music Group Nashville, and she's currently working on a country album set to release later in 2020.
