Grandma and Grandpa Wimon never thought twice about taking in their three grandkids after their mother got remarried and abandoned them. “I knew it would not be easy to take care of them, but it’s better for them to live with us than at an orphanage,” said Grandma Wimon. “I love my grandchildren very much.”

Nine-year-old, Praewa, loves her grandparents too. “We are very happy here! Grandma and Grandpa give us lots of love,” explained Praewa. “They help us with homework, and we help them with the chores. We like to hug and kiss Grandma before bed.”

Lately, the couple has struggled to provide food for the children to eat. To make money, grandma cleans houses and does laundry. Grandpa works in construction when jobs are available. On days they can’t work, everyone goes hungry.

"It pains me when the children have nothing to eat. I feel so sorry for them. I get instant noodles from the store on credit just so they can have one meal that day,” explained the grandmother.

“We were very hungry. Grandma cooked the instant noodles for me and my brother and sister,” said Praewa. “Grandma and Grandpa didn’t eat any that day.”

So, CBN’s Orphan’s Promise met with the family and provided them with some emergency food. Then, the organization provided equipment, supplies, and training so Grandma Wimon could set up a snack business in front of their home.

“We sell hotdogs, sandwiches, Thai coffee, iced drinks and desserts. We earn up to $21 a day,” said Grandma. “We have a lot of customers,” explained Praewa. “On weekends, I enjoy helping Grandma at the snack stand."

Grandma’s business is doing well. She says that now, they have plenty of money for food and expenses. “Now, my grandchildren eat well every day,” said Grandma. “I’m able to give them money for school, too. Thank you for helping me take care of my grandchildren and giving them a better life.”

“We don’t go hungry anymore,” said Praewa. “Thank you very much for helping our family.”
