Pray for America - Day 11
Who is like You, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? – Exodus 15:11
DAY 11: "Holy is Our God"
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty. He is set apart and is like no other. He is perfection, morally excellent, and holy in righteousness. He shines brilliantly and is beautiful and majestic. King David worshiped the Lord in awe of the beauty of His holiness, with all the earth trembling before Him.
In Leviticus 11, God commands us to be holy. What does holiness look like for God’s children? Holiness is separation from sin. It is living consistently in line with the Word of God. So why are many believers defeated and discouraged in their battle against sin? Why do God’s children look more like the world? Why can’t we have victory over our sins? Because we are so success-oriented, have we become more focused on our own victory in conquering sins rather than understanding how much our sins are breaking God’s heart?
In King David’s prayer in Psalm 51, he acknowledges sinning against God and God alone. As prayer warriors for America, let’s bring our sins before the throne of grace and ask for forgiveness with God’s holiness as our standard. Our prayers of confession and repentance will take on a deeper sense of remorse knowing that our own sins and the collective sins of our country have grieved and are grieving the very heart of our God.
