Pray for America - Day 29
If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. – 1 Peter 4:11
DAY 29: "Giving God the Glory"
How thankful are we? When we express our appreciation, whom are we thanking? Or Whom might we not be thanking?
In reading Luke 17, we learn about 10 lepers who were standing at a distance from Jesus, asking Him for mercy. Jesus told them to go and show themselves to the priests. The lepers did as He said, and they were cleansed. Realizing he had been healed, one leper returned and, with a loud voice, glorified God. The healed leper fell at the feet of Jesus, giving Him thanks. Jesus responded by asking the whereabouts of the other nine and why only one returned to give glory to God. When we have miracles such as healing in our lives, let us not stop short by thanking only the doctors, or the great medicine, or the intercessory prayers of others. But let us first return to the throne of God and give Him the glory—then in our conversations begin first with praising and thanking God. We don’t want Jesus questioning our whereabouts and our thankful hearts.
Pray that prayer warriors across America exemplify their faith by giving God the glory first. Then let our prayers of thanksgiving be offered to God on behalf of others.
