But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. – Colossians 3:14
DAY 40: "Perfect Love"
Do you believe God sees you as very lovable?
In Matthew 22 Jesus teaches us the first and greatest commandment—to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul and mind—and then the second: to love our neighbor as ourselves. In order to fulfill these commandments, we need to fully understand that God loved us first by sending His only Son, Jesus, to earth in order to demonstrate perfect love to mankind; to believe that Jesus died for our sins, was buried and resurrected and now sits at the right hand of God; and to know that our salvation is in Him when we confess with our mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead. When we can say with confidence that we are loveable in God’s sight, then reciprocating His love becomes a joy. Learning to love the Lord with all our heart, soul and mind is a Spirit-led lifetime journey. We listen to His voice, follow in His footsteps, remain in His Word, trust in His direction and pray without ceasing. And loving our neighbor naturally comes from the afterglow of basking in His love for us and our love for Him.
Thank You, God, that You will lead us in the days ahead to live our faith, to love You more fully and to demonstrate Your love to our neighbors across America.
