Relief After Nine Years of Constant Pain
9-year-old Sarean was born with a hernia. He said it hurt all the time. Sometimes he said it was unbearable. “I remember one time when I was playing with my friend. Suddenly the pain got so bad in my stomach that I cried. My friend ran and got my mom. She took me to the hospital.”
Sarean’s family are poor rice farmers in Cambodia. They sell what they grow from a small piece of land. Life has been difficult for the young family. “Sometimes we don’t have enough food to eat because the rice harvest is not good,” Sarean told us.
But watching her son cry because the pain he is suffering and not being able to help him, this is the hardest thing for his mom, Marenna. “It breaks my heart because sometime the pain is unbearable for him. I have been trying to save money for surgery but I can only give him medicine to ease the pain,” she said.
Sarean became a Christian after watching an episode of CBN’s Superbook at the church in his town. The pastor then contacted Operation Blessing to see if we could help with the surgery. We arranged for him to receive a free operation to repair what had become a dangerous strangulated hernia. The surgeon said without the operation, he could have died.
“Thank you so much to the kind people who helped us with free surgery for my son,” said Marenna. “I am happy that I don’t have to see him in pain anymore."
"Now I don’t feel pain at my stomach and I can run, jump and play with my friend,” added Sarean. “And I get to know God too thanks to Superbook! Thank you so much.”
