I don't need to know the final results from Pennsylvania. 8 points. 10 points. Whatever. By winning Pennsylvania, Hillary Clinton has made an emphatic statement. She is not going away. As a matter of fact, the longer she stays in and wins, the harder it gets for Obama to win the nomination. Why? Because everyday that Clinton stays in the race is a day that she can accumulate evidence to bring to the super delegate jury and say, "I'm your gal."
Before Pennsylvania there was no Jeremiah Wright controversy or any "bitter and cling" comments. What will come up next before Indiana and North Carolina on May 6th? It goes to her argument that he hasn't been vetted and is not ready to be President. Plus, can we be real here on The Brody File? Obama has not been able to close the deal. Hillary and White women (especially over 50) have a bond and Obama simply can't break it. It's killing him. Obama should go watch this movie. Click here. Hillary will let the 'supers" know about this demographic problem too. Plus, she will now argue that she wins most of the major states and battleground states. It's a compelling argument.
Does she have a pledged delegate problem? Yes. Doe she have a popular vote problem. Yes. But with super delegate help these "problems" are not insurmountable. She trails in North Carolina ( though the complexion of the race may change now) and she clearly needs to win Indiana. If she does, I'll see you in Puerto Rico June 1st (primary day) because this thing is going through June. If she loses both on May 6th, it very well may be over.
The Clinton campaign is reporting (as of 1130pm Tuesday night) that they've raised 2.5 million dollars online since the Pennsylvania race was called by the networks. They say 80% of that money is "coming from new donors to the campaign. It's our best night ever."
Final thought: Let's watch Obama campaign these next two weeks. He and his campaign went more negative than ever in the week before the Pennsylvania primary. Obviously they were trying to end the Clinton campaign by fighting fire with fire. But what attracted people to Obama in the first place was his "different kind of politics", the fact that he wasn't going to be your typical Washington politician. Yet Hillary Clinton has been able to bring out the worst in Obama by basically making him go negative. Will he continue to go negative? If he does, he could hurt his brand considerably which plays right into Clinton's hands.
All I know is it's time to get back on the campaign trail. As The Jackson 5 would say, "I'm going back to Indiana." Click here watch my dance moves on the campaign trail.
