Obama Claims Religious Victory

05-07-2008

This was just sent to me from Barack Obama's religious outreach team. They are excited about winning an even greater share of the religious vote within Indiana and North Carolina. Read below from their Religious Outreach Director Joshua Dubois:

Exiting polling in Indiana and North Carolina indicate that Barack Obama is continuing to win among voters of all faiths, winning outright among Protestants and making strong gains among Catholic voters. Obama won 48% of the Catholic vote in North Carolina. In Indiana, Senator Obama has won 41% of the Catholic vote. These are significant increases that build on previous improvements in states like Pennsylvania. Among Protestants, Obama won 53% to 45% in North Carolina and tied 50% to 50% in Indiana.

Bottom line: Don't count Obama out when it comes to trying to sway religious Independents away from John McCain in the fall. The Obama campaign believes they can win some of these voters.
