New Pro-Family Obama Ad

08-15-2008

Barack Obama is featured in a new pro-family Christian campaign ad put out by The Matthew 25 Network. The Christian Political Action Committee is breaking new ground and in their support of Obama they've done a remarkable job of breaking through the media clutter to get noticed. You can watch the ad above. The ad will run Saturday night during the

As for my analysis, the ad is extremely effective because it highlights one of Obama's strengths and that is his family. The Republican Party wants to demonize the guy as a crazy liberal ( a la John Kerry) but the problem is that unlike Kerry, Obama has the straight laced family narrative. You couldn't run a syrupy gushy pro-family ad like this with Kerry because he didn't have the cute little kids and he was on his second marriage.

With Obama, he has the wholesome family image going for him. That is a big time strength and the folks over at Matthew 25 are astute enough to understand that. In addition, Obama's personality and smile exude a loving demeanor towards his family.

Obama's liberal record on social issues will be challenged by social conservative critics and they have quite a few elements to work with. But when Obama showed up in red states throughout the primary season he was able to dispel the idea that he somehow has horns if you know what I mean. His critics may want to paint him as a Kerry or a Dukakis but Obama's life narrative and his wholesome family image (young children included) make that much harder to do.

This pro-family ad will begin airing on TV Saturday night during the Compassion Forum where McCain and Obama will appear at Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church.
